Re: So how long did it take you to download LOTRO?
Just took me about ~11 hours to download via FilePlanet, but I'm on a 1.5Mbps DSL line (I live in the middle of nowhere, literally, so that's the fastest available )
For future reference I strongly recommend using the FilePlanet link because I've personally had no end of problems using Pando Media 'booster'. From crashing constantly to endless download loops (where it spent six hours redownloading the same ~200kb -_-), before the FilePlanet link I was prepared to patch from my launch day installation CDs because it was the only way I could get it without using PMB.
So in short, thanks to everyone who's kept that link floating around the forums!
Re: So how long did it take you to download LOTRO?
Dang, and I thought mine was bad. I was downloading for a good three hours, then i had a three hour long real-world event. I was being weird and didn't want something to happen to my computer because it was plugged in, so I turned off my computer (after pausing the dl) and waited another 2 hours.. So what, about five hours? xD
Re: So how long did it take you to download LOTRO?
My friend took 4 days via sneakernet and USPS.
Friend: Hey, you play LOTRO, can you send me a copy of your install?
Self: NP. Zip onto a few DVDs and put in a mailer.
USPS: ............delivered.
Friend: Unzip onto disk, run the TurbineRegisterGDF.exe, and play.
Sneakernet - We may be slow, but all your data arrives in one packet.
Re: So how long did it take you to download LOTRO?
I downloaded the high-resolution version (11GB) and it took me 19 hours in total. The first attempt failed because when it reached 66% (roughly 7.2GB) it did the whole "lost connection to the servers" and after several attempts, I had to re-install Pando. On the last attempt I downloaded it over in blocks of a few hours, just so it wouldn't fail. I managed to resume the download three times. Perhaps that's the way to do it? Anyway, I have the files, I shall no longer need that Pando Media Shafter should I need a re-install. Turbine might be powered by their 'fans' but in this case they were serviced by some idiots.
Re: So how long did it take you to download LOTRO?
The initial download took 7 1/2 hours, setup and patches took another 3 hours. Got on and played for 2 hours before the server went down for 5 hours. Been fun.
Re: So how long did it take you to download LOTRO?
I took me 8 hours, when I seen this I stopped the download and then at bed time I downloaded it again so it would be waiting for me the following morning.
Re: So how long did it take you to download LOTRO?
put the computer to never go on that black thing and go chill somewhere else OR just go to another page while it loads and it aint really no 94 hours maybe 5 hours :/
my computer used to take 3 hours to download, but then i had to reset my entire computer and it now takes 9-11 hours! i have downloaded it but it kept going really slow then freezing so i deleted it. i love playing, what should i do?

Reason: forgot to add something else
It took me about 3-4 days to download due to bad mirrors/slow downloading times and internet having modem issues. (which is still not solved, I might add) It was better on my old computer, but then again we didn't have the phone connected directly to the internet. My old comp had to play lotro on the lowest settings and still lagged like heck, but at least it was consistent. I can play it on my new comp with no problems now. (Other than current internet issues) Sorry, got off topic there. :s
Re: So how long did it take you to download LOTRO?
2 days of progress-37% 5000 bytes-58 kilobytes per second estimated time (1000 hours(or so) - 38 hours)
Decided to restart the fuggin thing and wait till i had access to better internet. tried to make the LOTRO flash boost but it keeps saying "Directory not correct" how do i get it to work anyways... and should i delete pando media booster? seems like a smart thing to delete it from all the complaints from it or keep it and crank up my run speed (more megabytes for it to chew up and increased kbps).
I really want to play LOTRO but should i feed it my time... I was inspired to play it becuase my friend showed me it on his laptop and in little bit of time i was hooked and already level 8...
Well...... i have downloaded lord of the rings before on my windows and it takes 12 hours for it. Now im downloading it on my mac and its taking longer which is okay, but would be better if went faster so the only solution for downloading it faster is by having a full bars on your WiFi Network.
the download a couple of hours... the installing takes much longer, always hate new updates since a little update easily needs a install time of 2 hrs and i don't have a slow pc
On my brand new Win 7 64 bit Dell PC it took me around 6 hours to download and about an hour to update and install. That was with using Wi-Fi and my PC is around 20 feet away from my router and it's a pretty bad connection speed for my area as well, so I thought that was a fairly good time as I started the download just before I went to work (I was only at work for 4 hours that day) and it the download finished pretty much 5 minutes after I got in my house.
I wish Turbine would take it upon themselves to keep the download files up-to-date!
Its pretty sad that when after the long download the install takes place. Then the error code and restart.
When the client starts the update at -205% 28.. Thousands is shameful. I can see one or two fles but not
thousdands its like you left the download files alone since the beginning!! I suggest you update them once a week
and if that is too hard to do at least once a month!
I'm downloading it, and at the moment it's jumping around from 31hrs to 45hrs, 75,324KB out of 2,109MB, 0%, 90KBps. I'm also downloading Mabinogi at the same time, which says 3hrs, 255,936KB out of 3,034MB, 8%, 215KBps. Should I pause Mabinogi if I want LOTRO to be quicker? I'm kinda more keen on Mabinogi at the moment though...
