Now Now Now.... You have to understand the development cycle a little. They could not start making new content until F2P went live. So you have your baseline - the date which that started was Sept. So it takes devs like 6-9 months to release something they start on and thats being nice. Even though we were promised more content, you have to give them time. In my eyes Lotro started over again in Sept. We had the little fluff update in November with some class changes, etc. That was just an appetizer. So the raids come out in Feb/March maybe even April, that puts them on track for a 6-9 month development time. Regardless of how you look at it, we will see more content in 2011 than we saw in 2009/2010 combined. This year was a complete joke for new content in this game and I am surprised more have not found the door more appealing.

If SW:TOR had come out in 2010 instead of next year I think we would be seeing less people now. Turbine lucked up on that one, but they cannot afford to do something like that again. Go ahead and start saying that TOR is not a Lotro-killer. I agree it is not. But it will be a HUGE 800 pound gorilla (wookie) in the room and I have heard way too many people talk about trying it out for it not to be considered some kind of threat, and I do not just mean here in ME. I honestly think that we might see some of the smaller titles go under because of TOR. I could see games like Fallen Earth who are already struggling go completely out of existence. STO I think has a lot to lose from this game as well as it is already weak to some. Anyway back on the subject at hand. I will buy a painted skeleton horse because I want one and I tried to get it on 3 toons, almost everyday in the festival and failed miserably.

The game only just went F2P. Honestly, were you expecting the game to go F2P and we suddenly have new content every month right away? I'm thinking the releases go for 2011 will be where we can judge if F2P (and the store) is really going to drive the content.

Stuff can't happen overnight, and I'm willing to bet there is a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes that we are not privy to.

I'm only expecting what they promised: "more frequent updates" and also "more releases each year". So far we haven't seen them. They didn't say "more frequent updates after we catch up late next year".

So based on the release of new content this past September, when would be an acceptable timeframe for the next content release? It's only been 3 months.

Then you're in luck. They've already said there will be updates early in the year. The only "late next year" that has been mentioned is the full-blown expansion, not raid/instance/free/book updates.

People who preordered the game originally became Founders; depending on where you bought your preorder from, you received a different starter cloak that were not available to non-Founders. More cloaks were added (currently, if I make a new character, I receive three cloaks in my bags up front).

As a Founder, I've had access to them for three years. It wouldn't bother me a bit if they were made available to other players in the store.

Smart move by Turbine... plain and simple. It will make them money which is there sole motivation for creating this game in the first place.

As for cheapening an "accomplishment".... well as others have said it really doesn't. What exactly was the accomplishment on this horse anyway? Beating the RNG?

It would have been nice if there had been content in the November update. Two months from September to November, three months from November to February. That would have been roughly on par with the SoA/MoM-era release schedule.

Yes. February is what they've said. However, as I said earlier, February to November is 6 months between content. That's not "more" of anything.

Agreed, there is no way I'd waste money on that...

I think that the rarity makes certain things have a mistique that makes people want to try to do more in game, it was always neat to see something and stike up a dialogue with another player and ask where they got something, and then do what it took to get it. Now, what's the point, just open the store and it's bound to be there...I find that while I do everything to not acknowledge the store when I'm playing, something just doesn't feel right.

And we better start seeing a glut of new content soon with all this new "dev" money :P
Oh, what's that, new content is ONLY available for purchase through the store... :P

At least they waited three years and gave us Founders plenty of time to enjoy our "stuff." Unlike another less than year old game you and I could both name. (we've both been on that forum, though my user name is different)

As a Founder and longtime player, the Bree horse, etc., being made available at this point to other players is not an issue for me. I'm glad other players get a chance to enjoy these items. I'm not squirming and don't feel cheated in the least.

From where I sit, VIPs and especially Lifetimers still have the best deal of all. As a lifetimer, I'm still not paying for the game, but I am getting an allotment of Turbine Points as a Loyalty reward. I see much ado about nothing in some of these threads.

VIPs will continue to receive free updates (as already announced a number of times) except for the major paid expansions (i.e., Moria, Isengard) -- just the same as it always has been.

The content designer I know has been working long and hard designing, well, content (i.e., quests and storylines). He designs nothing for the store. Making that connection is "stuff and nonsense," nothing more.

This is why there won't be any further major expansions like Moria. It's far more profitable to just create some little doodad that can be sold in the store.

Hmm, I could have sworn we just recently had an announcement concerning the next "major expansion," plus info about new level cap raids, level 30-40 instances, raising of the level cap, new PVMP material, and then some.

I don't mind these items being for sale in the store. I wish there was more fluff for sale in the LOTRO store.

The horses are just a toy in the game. It has no impact on the leveling inside the game or giving anyone an unfair advantage.

I'm sure some of the Yule gifts will end up in the store in a few months. It frankly doesn't bother me.

Imagine what it must be like to win a car for free and then find out that they are selling the car to the general public!!! I think I would never drive that FREE car again!!!!

Seriously, I don't even know if the steed is account wide or character purchase only. I do know that I got four of them on three accounts in the family. So that amounts to a $60 or more savings.

I guess I'm just a simpleton that views it as "I got mine for Free, Simply by playing the game".

Here's the "rarity" folks, it's getting one for Nada, Zip, Zilch, Zero! It still looks just as "cool" as it always did and if you were impressed by me on my FREE steed, well, I hate to tell you, but I got it by clicking on a box in a cheesy but fun haunted hobbit hole.

People complaining about mounts in the store is nothing more than keeping up with the Jones's...they are upset that more people are getting what they have. WoW experienced this same thing when raiding on easier (heard from a friend). All of the "hard core" folk got upset that "scrubs" could have their gear.

    In lotro it is mounts.
