Thread: Thickest of skins Part IV-quest for tier 5 tailor

ok so i'm in the middle of trying to get access to tier 5 tailor, and the recipe requires drake-hide. I went to the area of the map the quest tracker indicated, and all that is there are a bunch of "cold worm"s. They look fairly lizard-like so i assume they are the drakes in question. Only problem is I have killed roughly 20 of em so far with no luck on the drake hide drop. Either this hide is a rare drop or else i'm killing the wrong monsters.... Can anyone shed some light on this quest?

You are in the right area but they are the wrong thing.

Keep going into the area and up a ramp, there is a drake that paths down that ramp.

Also, the hide will only drop if you have the quest, you can't get it on another character and give it to your tailor.

I *think* that a drake does spawn in that area (the shard dropper) -- however, that is a rare drop, and can be very difficult (especially at level or solo). Your best bet is to head up into wormland, up the ramp, and find a smaller drake. Any of the smaller drakes will drop the hide needed for the quest.

How do you launch quest Thickest of the skins IV ? im a level 36, and master artisan tailor ive sought out brenda in ost guruth, ive sought out the expert tailor in esteldin and neither of them launch the quest for me..

ive already started making master lvl crafts, and i was under the impresion, thickest of the skins IV was to unlock that ability.

So i am not sure if lotro has done away with that quest? , im not high anuff level? or if it unlocks after I complete the first teir in master lvl crafting?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, some quests were deleted a little while back. In their place are some easier ones.

The only quests you have to do for crafting now is the Superior Facility and to open up Artisan (tier 4), both of which are done at the same time and become available as soon as you are proficient in Expert (tier 3).

If you already had the Superior Facility quest done when Update 3 was patched, then you are free and clear and won't have any more Crafting quests at all.

Before reading the responses, I went ahead and grinded out the first tier of master lvl, and nothing happend and I started to get a little worried.

Where can I find these quests? I have reached maximum proficiency in the Artisan level, but cannot get it to flip to master.

I know I am missing something, but dipped if I know what.

Maybe talk with a Tailor trainer? I know that worked for Expert to Artisian.

You have bumped a thread started in 2010 and last bumped in August 2011. Things have changed since then.




There is only one crafting quest per production profession now, and it is the "make 3 items and hand them out" when you are ready to unlock Expert mastery.

If you've finished Expert proficiency (360/360), make sure that you have all previous tiers completely mastered, then take the quest from your Novice Profession vendor, who will direct you to an Expert Profession vendor, who will have you complete a quest involving making a few items and handing them out.
