The Finer Things in Life -- A Windfola Weekly RP Event Gather round, all, and let us enjoy some of the finer things in life!
Basic Info:
The Finer Things in Life is an opportunity for the Windfola RP community to get together and share in some of the finer things in life; namely the drinking of ales, the smoking of pipeweed, and the singing of song!
(Currently)The event is every Saturday at 9PM EST. The location will (probably) change each week, so make sure you check up on where it is each week! Your best bet is one of the many pubs found in Middle-earth.
This event is welcome to pretty much anyone who has any inkling of desire to role-play. So even if you have never RP'd before, please come by! We'd love to have you and the more the merrier.
Food and Song will be provided, however if you wish to bring your own that is up to you.
Ground Rules
I didn't want to have to write ground rules, but things have gotten a bit out of hand the last few times and after some collaborating with others, I have decided to post these ground rules for participation in FTIL.
Stay in the Lore -- We don't expect you to take a class on Tolkien. However, this is a game whose lore is deep and well studied. Please be respectful of those that take the time to craft their characters inside the lore. If you are not 100% sure that what you are about to say happened within the storyline, don't say it. Check the lorebook page (Link Below) to find the resources you may need to sort things out.
Metagaming is a No-No -- This means that your character doesn't necessarily know everything that you, as a player, know. No one is supposed to know about the Ring. If you have gone through the Epic Books, your character knows the Fellowship has left and is on an important errand, but they don't know what exactly is going on.
In Character actions have In Character consequences -- If you play your character as a fool who runs around screaming, don't all of a sudden expect everyone to take you serious when you want everyone to come rally to your cause.
Roleplaying is a Team Activity -- Treat others as you would like to be treated. And remember, we all have to work together to make RP fun.
Separation of Game Mechanics and Character Knowledge -- Your character in Middle-earth would not know what DPS, fellowship maneuvers, or stats are. So don't bring it up while RPing! Also, the developers of the game have to make some concessions to gameplay because this is, after all, a video game.

Re: The Finer Things in Life -- Weekly RP Event!
Aaawww! Of course that Saturday I will be MIA from the computer (cursed real life!)! I will definitely try to make it to the next one! Thank you for setting this up, by the way, that's very awesome.
Checking the calendar - crossing my fingers there isn't a hockey game that night Wonderful idea and great way to introduce RP to a server that isn't familiar with RP.
I've only RP'ed a handful of times in other games. I liked it, but the people that I RP'ed with were... shall we say "strange?" (One guy on SWG kept wanting me to be his "slave" and follow him back to his house where he presented me with Princess Leia slave garments that he wanted me to wear.) I escaped. LOL
I'm really looking forward to this. I've wanted to try out some LOTRO RP'ing for a while now.
Thank you for putting this together!

It was a lot of fun! I'm very glad I was able to make it this week; always nice to actually interact with others on a friendly basis. Thanks for setting this up! Hopefully I can make next weeks meet up. Moonie the Loonie
It was indeed fun! It was wonderful meeting you all, and also meeting folks like "Ake" who stopped by and got right into the spirit of the event. Here's hoping the popularity of the Finer Things in Life continues to grow!
Glad to see this happening on Windfola! Hang in there and you'll get your regular audience established soon enough. It took us several months before Ales and Tales was much more than a handful of kinfolk. I also started Elevensies on Crickhollow, which was a twice-daily event. It took about 1-2 weeks to get that well established. I think its grand that another story and music event is forming on Windfola!
Sorry I was so late tonight. I had a holiday dinner to attend and it went longer than anticipated. However I'm so glad to see that everyone got along well without me!

Awesome write up! I'm sorry I missed it last night...I was actually online, on my hunter, just completely forgot what day it was. I will do my best to make it next week!

Sounds like it's been fun! I was out of town for the holiday, but hopefully will be recovered enough to participate this next time (wOOt for New Year's Eve parties!!).
I made a small write-up of this week's gathering at my blog.
We had an amazing turn out tonight! It was so wonderful! Two stories were told, plenty of music and drinking and smoking, and even some drama of our own!

Miss Ghraye is sorry to have missed the drama, but was glad to have arrived in time for the music! I took a screenie of all of us, and plan a write-up of my own as soon as can be!
I'm glad I was able to go to this tonight. I've never experienced anything like that in a game before. If I didn't have to meet a friend at the driving range tonight, I would have stuck around the whole time. I'm planning on returning every week as long as I am able to play. That was fun.
Baraghir, Gletto, Haldhir and Spriddo on Windfola.
It is indeed a lot of fun. I put together a short writeup on last night's gathering, which you can read HERE. Even got a nice screenie of everyone to share with my blogging friends!
Looking forward to next week! I'll remind Miss Ghraye not to dawdle changing clothes, but arrive on time!

That's great, Gletto! I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself.
I've begun a list of all the write ups in the OP.
I'm thinking in a few weeks, once we begin to get a bit more stability, we can start having some adventures and travel to other pubs and inns in Middle-earth. I think it would be quite fun For example one night we could journey from the Pony to, say, the Golden Perch, or something.
Just food for thought!

I see.
As we chatted, a miserly elf working for Bill Ferny tried to move us from the street. He claimed Ferny had issued a noise complaint! After a bit of flashing of steel and words, the elf backed down and decided to join us, after I had given him some Honeybrew.
Ahem. Well, what do you want? Loremasters are *supposed* to be a crowd control class...
Grats on featured player Cithryth! On topic, I have a story written out. Also, I got the Silmarillion! I might be writing stories about that, because Fron's a elf.
Just so everyone knows, I've made a user channel called GRP (stands for Global Role-Play) that we can all use to chat in amongst our small RP community between Saturdays
