Re: Weekend of the Wilds--CH Coffee and Tea edition

It was Squirrelly, in Ered Luin, with a nutcracker.

    (Think Clue.)

Well, after a week or so of a sleeping pattern that, while not completely "normal", was at least consistent, I now find myself wide freaking awake and it's 4:04 a.m. There's not a particular reason, at least not any one that stands out. I can think of several contributory ones, none of which I can really do anything about. So, I'm awake.

/peeks at the sleeping 'chillas with envy.

There are a few people who have told me if I ever needed to talk, to call them whenever. I have to admit I'm tempted. Not tempted enough, mind you, since I have nothing too terribly specific in mind to discuss. "Wake up and keep me company," probably wouldn't go over swimmingly, methinks.

Granted, "normal" is a bit of a stretch for me at the best of times, which these aren't, but ... you'd think some things could be leveling out by now. It's just a thought...

But enough early morning whinging. I'm going to go outside and wait for the hobbit pastry delivery. Hope you all have a good Saturday!

Aww, cute squirrel! You must be so proud. In other news, are you planning another skirmish this weekend?

Del, mind if I wait for the pastry hobbit with you? *drags some pillows out of the pillow corner and sets them on the stoop* I've been having a muffin craving for days but I never go out and buy one. Perhaps if a hobbit brings it to me...

As for myself, I have been slaving away over this project for school that has been making me miserable all week, but it's nearly done now! *cue heavenly chorus* So I can quite truthfully say, Happy Weekend, Landrovalingas.

    Aww Delaney
I can offer cookies and some comfort: Physiologically, as long as you have a pattern to your sleep you'll be fine. Now for my psychology spasm: I recently did some study work on group therapy and support groups---specifically "Online forum social support" the empirical data that was collected shows evidence that these established forums that are used to communicate with on a regular basis are just as efficacious as counseling services.

Ok, way too blah.... This means we are more than happy to see you at the Coffee House

    I want some danishes now....

Alditha! Yes there is! Check the Friday thread for my write up
I would have written the rest this morning, but as I sit with my ligaments freezing in the cold weather typing this off my phone, I found out at 8 am that it is the firs day of rifle season... don't worry, Bambi hasn't shown himself yet

Re: Weekend of the Wilds--CH Coffee and Tea edition

Good morning folks. Del hope you feel better after a nice pastry!

Tried posting this morning but silly forums ate my post. Or maybe it was the iPhone. Either way, post vanished.

Nice Gondamon chinchilla skirmish writeup Anariondama! very nice!

Little Slam had a soccer game this morning - well matched - tied 3 to 3. One of his teammates got a hat-trick. Which prompted me to look up the origin of the term hat-trick.

Turns out it originated with a cricket bowler who bowled three wickets in a row, back in 1858. His owner/team-mates chipped in and bought him a hat. Hence the term. It became popular in the 1940's when the Toronto Maple Leafs began buying a hat for any player who scored 3 times in a game, and now today, any time a player scores a hat-trick during an NHL game, fans shower the ice with hats to celebrate the feat.

    The more you know!!!

I'm so happy it's Saturday! Have a great weekend folks.

Ahhh, gotcha! This is what happens when I don't check the coffee thread every day. I shall make an attempt to be there!

I think I watch too much HGTV. I am constantly embarrassed by our house, with its monochromatic "beige" color scheme, clutter, and eclectic decor (I love the word "eclectic"! It's sort of a cool-sounding word for "none of my stuff matches"!)

SMF's cousin is coming over this afternoon for me to alter a dress for her. She is a child of privilege, and although I know she is very sweet, I guess I feel a bit insecure. Living in one of the wealthiest suburbs in OK does not help.

Ok, whining over. I'm going to tidy before she arrives, because poor but tidy is better than poor and slovenly.

    Morning Landrovalrim,

Dont have too much to say this morning. I am exhausted because I have been up since 5 am and my back is killing me. We have a flock of blackbirds that must be nesting somewhere in a park downtown near my apartment. As the sun comes up and they move to the feeding grounds, there must be between 4 and 500 birds flying right past my bedroom window, making all kinds of noise.
Then on top of it, it has officially started to get rainy and cold today. The wind is howling which is making my single pane windows shake! Blech!
But I am off today, and I actually got in game for a bit, and am going back so its all good.

Hey, Momma G, if SMF's cousin says anything at all, you can just sew her up in the dress! /duck

Momma G... I know how you feel. For me it's these numerous tasks - most of which I can handle - but all take more time than I can give. ANd I hate starting a task and leaving it half done. So I end up not starting the task. Like this morning... after the soccer game, instead of diving into cleaning up the garage, I looked, said, "I need to kill some angmarin soldiers" and dove into LOTRO instead!

Ok, I've exited the game, and the garage still looks daunting. So instead, I'm going to tidy the den. Even the den is a bit daunting but it's better than the garage. Do-able in bite size chunks...

    On a totally different topic...
Hey, has anyone tried out the Xbox 360 Kinect yet?

lol Mirrah discovered one on display in Wal-Mart the other day, and proceeded to engage in a rather entertaining boxing exhibition complete with squeals and yelling, much to the delight of the electronics dept staff.

I can relate to doing a smaller task instead of committing all afternoon to the bigger ones (that probably need to be higher priority, but...yeah) I did manage to actually complete a project today, though! I finished re-covering the seats on the dining room chairs. Here is the before and after pic:

Hey everyone. I haven't read through the thread, but I will in a minute.

Things aren't going too well with my current project. I'm working 12+ hours to get this market done for the person that I had to let go. In addition the payment side of things is not looking good. I also think I am being setup to be the fall guy for this project going belly up even though I have done everything I possibly could, and I think way above and beyond what I should have had to do, to make this project work correctly.

I never did end up even close to finishing up Mass Effect, but I went and bought Mass Effect 2 because I can't log into steam for some reason. Stupid steam....

I really really wanted to log in and play last night but I have actually spent the last couple of days (and nights) with an icepack on my right arm/shoulder. Its frustrating ad its hard to rest the stupid thing. I am off for a test on it tomorrow. Can't solve the pain issue til we know what is causing it.

I do hope it went well. I am spending the day watching sappy movies on Hallmark channel. I haven't yet decided if the movies are bringing my spirit up or down. I am pushing for up

We have pigeon invasions in our parks,..one time, they had trained Falconers raoming the park,.unleashing their birds of doom to scare away the pigeons,...unfortunately, a particular Bird of prey got a bit overzealous and snatched a tiny dog into the air( as the urban myth goes) and that's the last we seen of them.
