    Cooks' or Tailors' Guild?

My main is a Yeoman. I'm Kindred with the Cook's Guild, and I do like the 25x superior recipes, but I'm having lingering doubts about my choice not to do Tailor's Guild.

Does anyone have experience doing both? Since I'm already Kin with one guild, should I stick it out, or am I missing on some epic recipes?

There's nothing really epic in either guild; if you're getting utility from the 25 for the price of 10 crit foods, stick with it.

The biggest hangup with the Tailor's Guild recipes is the same as that for Metalsmith - the guild recipes are the crit versions of the 1-shot recipes for the same tier, and all require shards. That makes the per unit value of those items stupidly high while the stats are only a marginal improvement.

The only time I break my tailor out is when I need to equip an alt, and I usually don't use guild recipes for that. At endgame, the Lothlorien rep armor (also available as a guild recipe) is alright, but it doesn't sell well - too much armor with better stats available from quests and instances.

The only possible exception would be if you're a burglar or rune-keeper; guilded tailors can make legendary class items for those two (burglar's tools, rune satchels) once a week. It's a relatively small payoff for a rather long grind when you're already kindred with the cook's guild.

Honestly, I'd stay with the Cooks guild over Tailor. You can always make another toon to do Tailoring as well, explorer's are good if you really want the benefit of being in the Tailor guild as well. I may be too biased though as I like cooking a ton more than I like tailoring hehe

I didn't realize that the Tailor Guild recipes were just crit versions of the non-guild recipes. That is a big dissappointment. And I do get a lot of mileage out of the 25x superior foods.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Re: Cooks' or Tailors' Guild?

This is an older thread, but I thought I’d drop my 2 cents in for another opinion.

So much depends on how much you like to cook. Some people love it. For myself it is the absolutely last crafter I bring out and I often buy supplies like blackberry tarts on the AH.

Given how time consuming and how much storage and item juggling one needs to cook it often isn’t worth my time.

I also have a tailor and he tends to bring in a steady income and so I find the other comments here misleading. No I don’t often make Gala/Mirk armor on my Tailor. But I only get one pattern a week and can make three cloaks from that pattern and the cloaks do sell. I also can make amour for lower levels and it also sells and I can jump to 21st and have the crafting hall, vault, and AH all nearby. And I can make the items quickly put them up on the AH and get to playing. Where on my cook seems I lose hours and hours trying to cook and farm.

Lastly, cooks cannot make any LIs and the LIs that the other crafters can make can bring in big bucks (though sometimes one has to take advantage of game changes to really make money).

That said. I’d suggest looking at jeweler. The LIs sell well and the jewelry sells great.
