Discussion: Thundercats Online?

Warner Brothers currently has the rights to the new Thundercats cartoon that's coming out next year. Is there a chance we might get to play Thundercats online in the near future? My magic 8-ball says to ask again later.

Are they still doing that goofy music Thundercats? I thought that idea was hated to death by fans years ago. Musical Thundercats was a bad idea then and it's a bad idea now.

No the musical ThunderCats is off. The new cartoon will be on Cartoonnetwork and done by Japanese animation Studio 4°C. They did The Animatrix and Gotham Knights. Larry Kenny who was the original voice of Lion-O is doing the voice of Lion-O's father. So alot of the fans are excited that he's on board. I can't wait for this cartoon as I am a complete ThunderCats nerd. I think an MMO could be fun i'd just be worried it would be done badly

I doubt there's gonna be a MMO. my money's on an attempt to get toy deals, and maybe push a movie through

I don't know I could see it being an MMO pretty easy. I guess it just depends how far Warner Bros wants to dip into the online gaming world and how popular the show ends up being.

I'd play it. WB could use the cartoon to advertise the mmo with tie-ins and stuff. Watch next week's episode and find out what tactics the Thundercats use to defeat Alluro.

Unless the MMO has been in development for several years already, don't expect to see this for nearly a decade. If I had to bet on a Thundercats game coming from WB, it would be an action RPG, most likely on the console(s), and certainly not an MMORPG. They take way too many years to build and too much money to invest for a property as limited as "Thundercats".

That makes sense, but I wouldn't rule out an online game. Just don't expect something in the scale and complexity of LOTRO. At the very most, it will be on par with the recently released f2p game "Clone War Adventures". So expect a bunch of mini-games where you pay either microtransactions or a modest monthly fee to access more minigames, and more cosmetic options.

At the very least, expect a free web-browser game.

My memories of the original are a bit hazy and would expect to be disappointed if I was to see the series again, but that looked good and could be quite interesting.
