    Woodworker with Hunter

I am new. I have not been able to find out how to get started in woodworking. I have a crafting quest "Supplies for the Lumber-camp" but cannot figure out how to get the rowan hammer and hafts. Is that part of it?

Also, how do I gather wood?

Wow! Where to start? Have you visited with a Master of Apprentices to learn a Crafting Vocation?

If so, have you read the document that you were given with your crafting tools?

You ask about Woodworking. There are Two Vocations that include that Profession: Armsman & Woodsman.

You also ask about gathering wood. If you're a Woodsman, then you've also got the Forrester Profession and are set. Equip your Forrester's Axe, go chop some wood, buy some wax from a Supplier, go to a Workbench and turn your wood into planks. If you're an Armsman, you'll need to buy your planks from a Forrester, perhaps via the Auction House.

When you've got your 2 planks and are standing at a workbench, make a Haft. Buy a leather wrapping from a supplier. Combine them at a workbench to make your hammer.
Congratulations on that Deed! You found a Nickel! Wanna go to the store & spend it now?

Also, I guess I somehow missed the "documentation" you mentioned. Is there a way to get it again?

    Thank you very much,
I am an Armsmen (weaponsmith, woodworker, prospector). I've gone to the Auction House but there is never anything there to bid on. I'm not sure how to "buy planks from a forester".

A Forester is another player whose vocation includes Forester (an Explorer or a Woodsman). Advertise on the /trade channel that you want to buy treated lumber of whatever level you need, e.g.:

/trade wtb treated rowan, pst with asking price

Keep in mind that treating wood requires a lump of wax per plank (24c), so don't expect anyone to be just giving it away.

If you want to make an offer, start at 1s per rowan plank and go up from there, keeping in mind that 1s doesn't even cover what they could have gotten from vendoring the logs (88c) combined with having to buy the wax (24c) - it's a price to negotiate from, not something you should expect to see accepted as an offer. If I was selling rowan planks, I wouldn't let them go for less than 1s 50c each, and I could probably reasonably expect to sell them on the auction house for 2s 50c or more per plank.

Alternately, consider making an alt to gather and treat your wood or consider switching your vocation to Woodsman so that you can do it yourself.

    Thanks you VERY much!

If I switch vocations do I lose the progress I have made as hunter in prospecting and weaponsmith?

Yes, if you change vocations you will lose any progress in the professions that aren't present in the new vocation. (In other words, going from Armsman to Woodsman will lose progress in Prospector and Weaponsmith, but will retain progress in Woodworker.)

Your class (hunter) isn't related to this at all. You're free to choose any vocation you like - any class can be any vocation.

Yes, but you keep your woodworking progress.

If you have significant progress in weaponsmith, you may want to consider switching to Historian (Farmer, Weaponsmith, Scholar) instead of Woodsman(Farmer, Forester, Woodworker).

As a Woodsman, you can make yourself a new bow every 3 or so levels and, with the help of a cook, help keep yourself fed.

As a Historian, you'd have to buy your new Bows, but you make your own Fire/Light oils, Bow Chants and (with the help of a Prospector) Traps.

Of course you can keep your Armsman vocation and have all the Traps you'll ever need for almost free.

Depending on what server you are on I can help you. I have a forester, woodworker and farmer. Just contact me and we could arrange something.

Can you tell I hate the farmer crafting profession?--^
