Has the fat lute really gone tiny? Is it really dead?
I hope it is not, but it is giving me a 404 error.
I did not make often use of it, and maybe that is the problem.... not many peeps are devoted Lotro-musicians.
But it was really the only place I could find the lotro-ABC's I wanted.
I have only recently started playing LOTRO, but I love the music system. I've made a Minstrel and I really enjoy just standing around one of the smaller towns in the area (or somewhere in the wild) and playing to myself. And if others can get some joy out of it, then that is but an added bonus to me (^_^) Therefor...

So do I, Amorey. The site has been down since I started playing this game. That they're just having it down for maintenance makes me very happy. I can hardly wait for it to be ready again. Hopefully, I can find some of the songs I've been looking for there (like "Colors of the Wind", "May it be" in a One-file (since I can't play multi-files or zip files on my computer) and "Where do I go from here?" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfTieVPjN7E ) (^_^)

Its a terrible shame to see the Fat Lute down. I have sent more people there in the past as it has always had the best tutorial for beginners in my opinion. But for those who love song. Do not fret. There are other sites out there to find songs of great quality at. Until the Lute is returned to us, you might try using Songbook of Lauerlin which has been around for many years now and has a huge selection of songs ranging from solo on up.
It can be found here:http://s1.zetaboards.com/Songbook_of_Laurelin/index/
Another really good site though new, is ABC Music Source which can be found here:http://w11.zetaboards.com/ABC_Music_Source/index/
Both of those sites are run by bands with quite a lot of experience and may provide you with some relief until the Fat Lute is once again back up and running
^ i would really love to know too, i just went to search me some music and found out this sad news lots of evenings with lots of songs (from fatlute) we spent with friends together, kind of relax that was..
many people put lots of their work there and i hope its back up and soon!
To folks coming to the Songbook of Laurelin to look for music, just a couple quick things:
Although there are quite a few solo tunes posted there, the bulk of the library is multipart songs, so make sure you're grabbing a solo if that's all you want.
The search option isn't that pretty box at the top of the page--that's the shout box. Search is an option on the upper right corner of the page
Feel free to play any tunes you get anywhere you want, but be sure to credit the arrangers!

Since Warden isn't coming back, we've purchased a new domain, and this will be the new home of TFL.
The website is an incredibly basic place holder... but at least it gives you access to your work, so please hold back on any criticisms for now; We know what needs to be done.

Woot! Glad to hear this Figgy! But sad to hear that Warden isn't helping anymore
I just have to remember where I put songs I uploaded long ago lol

Wonderful to see that the songs themselves are online.
*grins* definitely basic- even nothing for the search bugs to catch yet. I had to type in the url in the search bar to get anything up XD
I'll let folks know that, at the least, the songs themselves are up online.
I cannot wait to see the final product. Thank you, Figgy.

To be fair, he has been dealing with illnesses (his mom's and his own), update 9 stuff and the general Holiday crush.
The navigation throughout the LotRO site is horrible. You can quote me on that.
You say "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" like it's a bad thing...
It's working fine for me! Ruu said he'd had to update the server because the traffic is pretty high which is nothing but good news imho. That may have been why you were having problems a few days ago. Is it working ok now?
Updates will be coming soon (tm). I have no control over how soon, but they're in the works.

So let me get this straight, is the site only a placeholder or can we actually get files from it?
The files are actually there.
What you'll want to do is create a blank text document (ie. *.txt) or abc file (ie. *.abc), then copy the song info (that is, everything from "X:1" to the end of the text) from the web page and paste it into the file. Put that file in your music folder and name it appropriately.
