What a great quest to tie in some of the events of The Hobbit in with LOTRO.
Retracing the hidden path under Dol Guldur that Gandalf used when investigating the Necromancer with flashbacks of Gandalf getting the map to Lonely Mountain that reveals the secret entrance, reference to the final dwarvish ring being taken from Thrain and his death, and finally that the Necromancer was indeed Sauron risen again.
Agreed. One of my favourite quests in the game, and absolutely one of my favourite LOTRO moments.
This, along with "We Cannot Get Out" and "The Fall of Moria", as well as the dwarf tutorial where you meet Thorin and gang, is the kind of things I want to see more of.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Quite often, it's setting up sequences like this one that inspire the rest of our stories; this was one of the earliest bits we finalized during the planning of the Mirkwood storyline in Volume II.
The time you spent forum-searching for a thread on the quest to necro (and an old corpse did you find) might've been better spent googling the very same thing.
