"As many of you are aware, we live in dark times. The shadow has arisen once more, even now in the hearts of men and beasts.......It is a lonely road we tread, for many of Illuvatar and even Aule's children have given themselves over to darkness."
"For many moons I sat under the stars, and in the shadow of the Lonely Mountain pondering my doom. As I played my lute near a stream in Dale, I fell into a deep slumber......and I heard a deep voice as the sound of the waters of the sea. The voice said that I would follow the streams of Middle Earth to many lands, and gather brave hearts to battle the shadow.......From that moment forward, I knew my course."
"Now many days later I have traveled the lands making friends and have formed the bonds necessary for a foundation of a great kinship. As my vision was conceived in the shadow of the Lonely Mountain, so I have named our house: The Lonely Mountain Band."
And so it was, A humble beginning, but blessed to succeed by Illuvatar himself! The kinship grew and waxed strong over time, becoming great and well known among all of the free peoples of Middle Earth. Souls of all races continue in the struggle against evil under the noble banner of "The LONELY MOUNTAIN BAND". We call out at this critical juncture to see if peradventure there may be more who will steel themselves against Sauron and his minions. We look for heroes in the making as well as those much seasoned in battle! Crafters, musicians, bards, are you looking for a place to call home? Will you answer the call? What say ye of humble origins?
To keep our spirits up in these desperate times we offer many events to all peoples, to set aside time for laughter, and ale, and reflection. "OLD WINYARDS" is our house band. The "BBB" Troupe, an interesting and sometimes rogue traveling film and music show, resides here. And look for the "Anduine Ensemble" among our ranks!
WEATHERSTOCK is our flagship event! In fact, it is the largest player event in LOTRO! A yearly "Battle of the Bands" in a 4 hour marathon on top of Weathertop! 300 gold in prize monies makes it the richest player event in this game! Ale flows freely, and the choicest pipeweeds are imported just for this event. A perfect setting to allay the cares of the world! Open to residents of and visitors to the Landroval server.
WINDY ACRES RANCH is a new and exciting horse related venture run by our own Kiralynn. Among other things, we are kept posted of the latest in horse availability, and all horse racing events. Know thy horse! Open to all horse lovers on Landroval.
THE SPRING RACING CARNIVAL. Initially founded by Duvelon from the "Leaves of Lauralin" kinship, we have since been allowed to promote and organize. A yearly horse racing series which is quickly becoming the second largest event on Landroval next to Weatherstock. Horse shows, fashion events, free ale, the spirit of competition and gold winnings, what more could one want in a festival? All told, over 450 gold in payouts over the course of the event series. Open to all citizens and visitors to Landroval.
ALES AND TALES. Another LMB run exclusive weekly event. (180- plus weeks running- 3 and a 1/2 years of Ales and Tales weekly) and the "Nibbles and Nobs" party for the early attendees. Tales, music, dance, and ale all come together for a most enjoyable social. This is an open event to Landroval and a great place to get your RP experience started.
Brand New! Our own LONELY MOUNTAIN MILITIA ! A level 6 plus completionist group/s adhering to C.A.R.P. rules; (Challenge-Adventure-RolePlay). There was great interest in our maiden run! Role play adventure righting wrongs in middle earth one challenge at a time. Presently at level 7. Open to any kinnie or alt of kinnie
SUNDAY NIGHT SIEGE. Our weekly incursion into all places evil in Middle Earth. From 3- man small fellowships to 24- man raids, this is payback time to Sauron! Open to all kinnies.
LMB owns 6 neighborhoods and we are planning for a 7th! One must have shelter, a place familiar to rest after long campaigns. Our mighty Band looks out for those whom we take in! Solidly assembled homes hewn with the choicest woods and stones assembled by master craftsmen, all for your comfort, with neighbors such as yourself to ease into those things social.
End game play is regularly run, but we do not specifically raid for gear. At this point several of our members are leading regular group runs and they are being formed multiple times daily.
If you should think to sojourn with us, to form bonds that cannot be broken by any mortal means, then put your hand to keyboard and apply to www.alesandtales.com. To keep our kin drama free, we have an application process, and strongly advise any applicant to attend one of our weekly events or just hang out with any kin member and ask questions.

I am generally in-game evenings Sunday through Wednesday. If you wish for information about the Lonely Mountain Band or want the details about how to apply for membership you can contact me in game or Doribolger at mylotro.
Thanks I found it but forgot to put a bio on my app. Will this cause a problem?
I don't believe it will be a problem, but should you wish to go back and add a bio (which would be great, we'd love to know more about applicants!) you should be able to go to your application and edit the post.
Also, for those who apply and are looking for an officer in game to recruit you, you can also watch for me as Lennidhren, Horazio or Horazia.

Harperella, current leader of the Lonely Mountain Band, at your service. Galenswerd Swordsong and myself have led this band for a number of years and we are a well established kinship. Well established, but not static! We are constantly bringing on new activities and events as well as trying new things as a kin. You can find me in-game on the following characters:
Harperella
Harperiel
Thundergust
Harperengu
If you want to get a hold of some Lonely Mountain People, the quickest way is to join the alesandtales chat channel via this command:
/joinchannel alesandtales
That will assign the channel to one of four user chat channels. You can then contact us like so:
/1 Are there any officers of the Lonely Mountain Band available for an interview to join?
Hi I signed up to join your Kin, because it looked like a very good match for me.
I play bass guitar IRL, and am really interested in doing more with the in game music system, so this Kin seemed like a great fit. But after applying I don't see my character listed in the roster to claim.
I'll try and find someone tonight in the alesandtales channel but thought I might mention something here as well.
If I'm just being impatient then feel free to smack me with a rolled up newspaper and I'll go lay by my bowl until it's done.
The Lonely Mountain Band is still growing, no doubt in part due to our regular Monday Ales & Tales events. I would like to let folks know that we have also begun regular kinship runs through various instances on Sundays and from time to time on other days of the week.
Mild bump to keep on the first page. We now have over 370 members! With 20 plus recruits waiting for membership. We should hit 400 soon! Remember we are light to med rp friendly! No requirements to roleplay. Many new adventures are starting such as DEED groups,...RP grouping and we now have our own music band "Old Wineyards". Also stepping up our grouping into the more dangerous areas of Angmar for those legendary items. All this along with our regular events, Sunday Siege, and Saturday Epics.

Here's a slideshow of our recent RP adventure across Eriador and into the Halls of Crafting. The background music is by our founder, Galenhir Swordsong.
Now with new interkin llf channel goodness! In its first week lff has become easier and a lot less time consuming! By application by kinship, not open to general playing public. Of course all Of our kin members and recruits have access to this new channel.

The Lonely Mountain Band has finally filled all the kinship houses on Raglan Road, with Swordsman in the Sky and The Harp and Dragon. We plan to open another kinship neighborhood in the Shire this coming March.
If all of the kinship houses are full does that mean recruitment has ended? I'm not familiar with all of the game mechanics concerning kinships since I was only in one for a short time before I switched servers. No one in that kin ever discussed kinship houses/neighborhoods. I would be more than happy to fill out an application if there is still room for more members. I don't RP but enjoy seeing other RP and I always attend your events!
Certainly there is room for more! The kinship houses are part of the Raglan neighbourhood that we banded together to buy out; the personal homes in that neighbourhood are owned by LMB members and the kin houses function as the Ales and Tales tavern, Lonely Mountain Brewery, Harp and Dragon Inn, etc. However the housing is not connected to recruitment, and we are still bringing in new members nearly every day. So head over to alesandtales.com if you wish to apply for membership!

I have a few questions if someone wouldn't mind answering them.
1) Does the LMB have a level restriction of any sort?
2) How does one exactly go about applying? I've been to the site and saw the application form. After filling it out (do you want the biography there as well?) do you wait for someone in LMB to contact you, or do you want me to contact someone myself? (and how on earth do you search for people in LotRO? I'm used ot the WoW system, so I'm probably just missing something obvious.)
Anyways, sorry if these are obvious and/or kinda dumb, but new ot LotR and looking for a kinship, and LMB came highly recommended by a few people. Just wanting to make sure I do everything properly the first time through.
No level restrictions at all! One does have to be out of the beginner instance to get an invite to kin proper. Level 7 ish.
Heres what you do; apply at the kinsite, fill out a bio if you have one, but it is not required. Once approved there you will get a followup post which reads like,...
"Welcome and Thank you for choosing us! All you need now is to find an officer! you can /joinchannel alesandtales to chat and one will get with you right away!"
Something must be in the air because we are having incredible growth in the last two weeks on the order of 2 per day average.
EDIT; We do not accept lorebreaking names on the order of "Rofldude", or "IpwnuNow", or "Ihaztankmore",...in that vein. And we also prefer our recruits and members to be at an age of understanding that being in a kinship is a team effort and some maturity is needed.

There's always something going on at the Lonely Mountain Band!
This last month, we spent focusing on crafting. We collected materials as a kin, passed out recipes, then had a crafting bee each Saturday for a different craft each week. It was great to see the community building aspects of crafting working out in our kin, rather than a single closed system of alts for a single player.
In the coming month, we'll be focusing on RP and bios with a RP Orientation class and RP adventures in addition to our normal recurring weekly events.
Alrighty! we will be celebrating our 3rd anniversary this coming Friday and Saturday! March 25-26. Over 400 kinsite members are invited to participate in our huge party on those days!

We are also Participating in the SPRING RACING CARNIVAL as a kinship co-sponsored event! To be held Friday April 29 and Saturday April 30. Look for our exclusive event , WEATHERSTOCK, in June.

You look and sound like a splendidly fun group, I have just started up a new minstrel named Haladora here on Landroval. I have come over with the codemasters migration. Admittedly i do have most of my characters on Eldar but i am hoping to try a little RP and all I had heard about Landroval seemed good. I hope to see some of you at your fantastic festival (work and timezone permitting of course)
We look forward to meeting all Lauralin and other EU server players! As I post this, we are 3 days from our kinship presented "WEATHERSTOCK"! The largest and richest player event in all of LOTRO!

A reminder that our alesandtales channel is also a interkin lff channel for those soloists and small kins to use to gather groups and raids from a "pool" of players.

I would love to join! I used to play a while back before F2P, so I'm learning again but I am very eager to RP. Would it be okay if I applied or would I be rejected outright?

Whether you love playing music in-game, roleplaying, or simply finding others to share your adventures in Middle Earth, the Lonely Mountain Band likely has some aspect you will enjoy. Hovering at 65 with little need to do end-game raids over and over, I've really enjoyed making music and sharing banter with my LMB kinmates while having the ability to help others level and attain gear. There are more aspects to our kin than meet the eye as well. Being so large, there are members who play in several bands, write on blogs, and create role-play events. We also have deed and skirmish nights to help members actually slaughter things. It's certainly not for everyone, but it's a good time in my book, and I recommend it. - The Beard
You will not believe how helpful and generous the Banders are until you join.
They are also fanastic roleplayers and talented musicians!
Even if you love the kinship you're in, roll an alt and send them an application.
You won't be disappointed!
Adding a bit of detail here are some of our events running with some regularity.
Monday evening 'Ales & Tales' moves location each week for a moderate RP concert, storytelling, dancing party with free pipe-weed and drinks provided. This event is always open to the public including allowing non-kin to play a song, tell a story or recite a poem. The house band "Old Winyards" is a largely pick up band so you may even be able to join the band.
Wednesday - currently assisting with organization of the "Exiles of the Riddermark" RP arc leading up to the opening of the new expansion pack at which time we will run a group "mounted invasion" into the new territory.
Friday deed runs
Sunday - Sunday Night Skirmishes (low to mid level), Sunday night Sieges (mid to high level instance runs), Lonely Mountain Book Club (meets to discuss and do readings from the master, recently completed "The Hobbit", currently working through the "Silmarilliion")
Every Day - lots of RP lite kinchat.
New recruits should note, we are pretty serious about keeping kinship chat channel to in-game and game/Tolkien related topics. Other private chat channels are provided for OOC and RL chat.
most of our activity is lite to moderate role play oriented, though many members do not role play at all and role play is not a requirement.
