If I typo something searching, waiting the 20 seconds is irritating. Wonder if there could be something more clever that still preserves the intent of keeping the load on the underlying server/database reasonable?
Amusing output just seen (note the 73)?!?
This forum requires that you wait 20 seconds between searches. Please try again in 73 seconds.
Please add more constraints to your search. Searches that return all or most of the database are a bad idea.
Actually, even when I don't typo something it's highly irritating. One example is when I go looking for something a developer or community relations person said - I often cannot remember exactly who said it, so I start down the list. If I get no result, I try the next most likely name -- I don't just do it for everyone because 98% of what's returned will be from players. (Suggestion: it would be sweet to be able to select everyone from a special group called "Turbine"...).
Anyway, if they have to limit it, I'd really love it if they made the limit something like "no more than 3 searches in 60 seconds" than "no more than 1 search in 20 seconds". That would solve the typo problem, and would help with other issues too. Unfortunately, it would probably also drop performance some since more people would be able to do more queries in bursts of 3.
