Re: TUTORIAL: How to upgrade F2P account with Mines of Moria retail box
I should've read the box better, guess I was too excited. :P I suppose I'll just have to wait till the Moria expansion pack goes on sale in the lotro store and hope I've accumulated enough tp by then. Or hope I find it in an actual store. lol
Re: TUTORIAL: How to upgrade F2P account with Mines of Moria retail box
If you're interesting in purchasing the expansion take a look at the following thread for information on how to go about doing so with the least cost to you:
if i have two subscriptions in one account, both F2P, which i don't know how and why i got the 2nd one, do i have some options to choose which subs should i upgrade/activate product key?
I'm worried about activating my product key/30 days free VIP to a wrong subs.

You should contact Account Management and tell them your situation. They can give you advice on what to do.
Re: TUTORIAL: How to upgrade F2P account with Mines of Moria retail box
I just got my MoM Complete Edition Box Set from Amazon and entered the code an hour ago and received this message:
You have successfully upgraded your subscription! Thank you for your patience while we process your request. Changes to your subscription may take up to one hour to be processed. You may not be able to log into the game or forums during this time.
Thank you for your purchase of The Lord of the Rings Online™: Mines of Moria™ Complete Edition! You’re now ready to enter Middle-Earth. An email receipt has been sent to you that provides additional details about your purchase.
You will not be billed by Turbine, Inc.
When I logged in to my account, it is still reflected as "Premium" but I have two additional character slots and access to Rune Keeper and Warden. But I am still unable to access the other skirmishes and quest packs that I haven't bought previously. Did Turbine remove the 30 days free VIP access? But it says on the box I have 30 days free gameplay...I'll be having a difficult time to call Customer Support because I live overseas. @_@

If I buy a new coppy of mines of moria from amazon and use the product code will i get the expansion and 30 days of VIP? Will the expansion come with the premium classes?

Yes... but ONLY if it is the US (Turbine) version. If it is the Codemasters version, it is worthless.
Re: TUTORIAL: How to upgrade F2P account with Mines of Moria retail box
So, I just scored an over-the-counter MoM (feel like I may have just slain the last unicorn!). Haven't activated it yet, but thank you for this post - will def make use of it!
I've read several suggestions for best use of upgrading to VIP and then back to Premium, and have seen different advice - wait for Level 20, wait for Level 35... my question is, what are my options for ''best use'', and what are the tradeoffs? I only half-understand that any material and options opened as VIP will be kept as Premium, so I'm guessing that once I activate I want to schedule 30 days of intense leveling - but to what goal(s)? And what would be a rough ''checklist'' to prepare for that?
I've currently got the standard 2 FTP characters, both approaching Lvl 20, and I'm not itchin' to activate and then regret that decision if I hit a wall in a dozen-or-two levels. Depending on what I get for practicing some patience, I'd rather wait - but I'm not sure what I'd be waiting for, or how best to set up for that moment...
So, any advice/suggestions/personal experience (good or bad) would be welcome - and/or a link to a thread that talks about exactly that - thanks!
Re: TUTORIAL: How to upgrade F2P account with Mines of Moria retail box
Here's the deal, roughly:
You can do a VIP quest at level 20 to get the riding skill for free. If it's not on sale, the riding skill is 95 points, which is fairly trivial in the grand scheme of things (to me, anyway). You can buy the riding skill as soon as you're out of the starter instance whether you're VIP, premium, or F2P, but for some folks this is the over-riding reason to get VIP at around level 20.
In your early 30s, you're going to run out of free content. You're probably also frustrated with the gold cap, lack of bag space, lack of trait slots, perhaps lack of auction house slots, swift travel is about to become an issue, craft guild advancement may be an issue, and - you need somewhere to quest.
When you go VIP, it *permanently*, on any toon logged in during the VIP period, gives you: 5 bags, all trait slots opened, all swift travel routes open (providing you meet level and rep requirements, but that's true of everyone), no gold cap, and 5 AH slots. You get to keep all that on any toon you log in during a VIP period, even after your subscription expires.
Subscribing also gives you temporary access to all the quest packs (not the expansions), so you can go to Evendim, North Downs, Forochel, Angmar, Eregion, etc. etc. Some people like to sub mid-30s and use that time to quest through the rented quest packs and then buy Mines of Moria.
If you have alts, that may not work out so well. But if your main is around 32-35 and you like the game, it's as good a time to subscribe as any. You also have full access to crafting guild advancement while you're subscribed, and if you get to Master of Guild, you keep that, even when the subscription is over. If you wanted to guild another toon, or if (as is likely with RoR) there ends up being another tier of advancement, you'll need to either subscribe again or buy guild access.
Best advice I can give you is to apply the Moria code when you want to, but during your VIP month, create and log in any toon on any server you might want to play in future. Makes for a tedious evening, but the benefits are really worth it. Use your VIP month to get your main through some content, and sample as much as you can - then you can decide, which, if any quest packs, you want to buy, and all your characters will have the 5 bags, 5 AH slots, all traits, swift travel, no gold cap perks forever, so long as they were logged in whilst you were a subscriber. You will get two extra character slots during your VIP month, so fill those in, too - when it ends, you'll get to decide which characters you want to play, and the ones you don't are simply locked until/unless you buy a character slot for them - you won't lose them, in other words, and they'll also retain their former VIP bennies.
Re: TUTORIAL: How to upgrade F2P account with Mines of Moria retail box
I will just emphasize a bit on what Chanah said:
The riding skill for free is nice but really not an issue at all.
What you want is the downgrade perks like traits slots unlocked, 5 bags, no gold cap and also swift travel.
Especially swift travel is something you will really like later on.
Currently as f2p you have 2 slots.
With spending money you get to Premium and get another slot permanently. Also you will have the MoM expansion and this will grant another 2 slots.
This makes already 5 slots after you drop back to Premium that you will keep.
During VIP you will get another 2 like Chanah said.
It is important that you fill them all on different servers like the main one you play now, some RP servers, some 'big' servers e.g. just in case you want to check in there at one point.
The more characters you have that have VIP downgrade perks the more you might want to invest into them and keep them around on different servers.
Getting TP is really not difficult the first couple of levels and it will allow you to buy content.
But in the end it is up to you if you prefer to play a single toon or multiple alts even if it is just to their 20ies or 30ies to see how the other classes work.
As for buying content always check for sales. Only buy content if you really really need it when it is not on sale. Keep some TP always banked to be able to profit from sales.

Have you already logged off and re-started the game? Sometimes you need to re-log to let your game sync-up with their account systems.
If that doesn't work, contact customer service. You'll probably want to verify you didn't accidentally make a new account with your code rather than applying it to your current account. Whatever the issue customer service should be able to handle it.
