I actually made one already. But it's a native windows application and not Java. You can download the first version here: SongbookFiller and give it a try. I hope it works!

I could have a look to make it work with a linux environement ...
The problem is .... where are the sources .... probably a secret .... as usual !!!
Hm, it might require some additional libraries installed - wish I knew :-/. I made and compiled it with Visual Basic .Net, but the source it's 95% the same as the original .hta version, at least aside from the 'Visual' stuff.
Is there a reason you can't just hook into the chat handler and watch for the output of /playlist? It'd solve the system interoperability problem, although you'd have to actually get it to work on the different language versions of the client.

Yes, that would be possible nowadays. It's probably not without its problems, but I could see it working somehow. Even if it wouldn't be a totally smooth experience. Not that the current one is either :P.
I have downloaded and installed Songbook in the correct locations and have ran the out of game portion of the program to generate the library. When I go in game and attempt to load songbook the game says Unable to load "songbook". This plugin is used extensively by my kin and I followed the instructions there but no luck (http://www.sonsofnumenor.com/communi...id=12547#15722). When I look at the instructions on my Kin's site and look at the screen shots, compared to my windows I see an XML file named lotroplugin that I do not see or even see mentioned in the instructions. Should I do anything with this?
I believe that some of the file structure is not correct if this happens. That xml isn't necessary, though it does come with the latest versions so it's good to make sure you have version 0.83. So either the songbook.plugin file is in the wrong place or the plugin itself is. Does it list Songbook if you type /plugins list?

If I type /plugins manager the game opens the Plugin manager and is says Installed plugins (None) in the text box. I refresh and still nothing.
When I extract the plugin after download should I keep it in the Chiran folder or move all contents out?
Thank you for the fast response.
I found a similar situation on Page 4 of this posting so I went and deleted my Music folder and the original PluginsData folder that was there before I installed the plugin. I then extracted the download again and left everything in the original Charin folder and ran the window program. That worked. I then logged in and typed /plugins manager and the songbook was listed. YEAH!! It now works, even though Back in Black does not sound so good on a Lute compared to an electric guitar.

I think I know this issue so I'll just paste here what I posted on LotroI. Hopefully it will help you as well.

Invisibility issue is familiar and usually related to the client/windows locale settings (and decimal format specifically). I'm not sure if this is the same but you could at least try the following:
Unload the plugin, delete SongbookSettings.plugindata, and then change line 27 in SongbookWindow.lua to read (this matches version 0.83):
Settings.WindowOpacity = "1";
Original one should be similar but different value at the end. Then you can load the plugin again.
first,Chiran thank you for this fast answer. Unfortunatly the problem still exists...I hope you will find a solution for this Problem in the next time.

Ah, I was hoping this would solve it. I'm not sure what the problem is since I'm not seeing it myself. But I'm pretty sure it's related to localization in any case.
Another Song Book Filler - especially for WANs, but also useful for LANs/local disks
Hi,
I have programmed another Songbook data filler, but with local caching - especially useful if you are using distributed music folders somewhere out there in the cloud (but may speed up your local updates, too). Have a look at http://lotro.hanft.de/wansongbookfiller/ for more information.
Since this is an .EXE, you'll have to trust my honesty - I wouldn't mind publishing source code, too; but it's written in Delphi 7 (which I know best), so if you just read it (aside from German-language comments), I could have deleted the trojan horse before - and to compile it yourself, you'd need a pretty expensive Delphi compiler. So the source code wouldn't make much sense to you, would it? If it wipes your disk, I agree that you request a lifetime ban at Turbine for me, OK? (Seriously, without UAC confirmation in Windows 7, it just can't wipe your disk or do something really evil.)
BTW, the "local caching" is a CSV file in your PluginData folder which you could easily import into OpenOffice Calc or Microsoft Excel for some further processing (for example, populate an SQL database, or create a playlist automatically, etc.).
You know the button which you click to open songbook. well it kinda disappeared and its annoyring to have to type the command all the time so does anyone have a solution to how to get my button back? thnx
Of course, Chiran himself knows best, but in the meantime this may help (at least, it did help me, some time ago): Have a look at the file Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\Plugins\Chiran\Songbook \ToggleWindow.lua (just open it with Editor/Notepad). Around line 17, there is something like self:SetOpacity(0.25); - you might change this to 0.75 or 0,75 (depending on your local settings) or even just 1 (then 1.00 or 1,00 doesn't matter). This should make it darker and easier to locate. Some lines above, you can vary "SetPosition" and "SetSize" to meet your needs.

Maybe the brigands will give it back to you then?

Alas matey when i ventured into the camp i found the thief but he left during the chaos might you know which settings to take to change the position of the button to the middle of the screen?

I have never tried it, but you could experiment with coordinates which appear at "Settings.ToggleLeft" and "Settings.ToggleTop" lines:
or even write some coordinates directly into the SetPosition function calls - but I'm not a good LUA programmer (and I don't know Turbine's classes at all, I'm justing using LUA for imapfilter on my mail server). So I'm afraid you'll have to try yourself (and always keep a backup copy of the original file in a safe place ) and/or wait for Master Chiran...
I've downloaded the stuff for Songbook.
I've downloaded the folders for Turbine and TurbinePlugins. (Yes, the folders, not the documentation.)
I've got the folder built for Music.
However, from here out, it will NOT recognize the plugins.
1) Songbook creates a folder called PluginData, not Plugins (which is how a lot of things seem to refer to it). Is this a problem?
2) Given that the PluginData folder now has folders inside it for my username and then my server, where do to the Turbine, TurbinePlugins, and Chiran folders go?
I have logged out of the game client entirely, tried putting these things in each subfolder, logged back in, refreshed the list, and nothing. I've gone to at least four different sites trying to figure this out, and it's now 3:30am and I'm ready to scream.
Help?!
(FWIW, I'm on Windows 7, and have only been in this game MAYBE a month.)
Extract songbook zip to Lotro folder (under your windows Documents folder) to following directory:
'The Lord of the Rings Online\Plugins\'
if there is no 'Plugins' directory then make one first.
The complete plugin directory structure should then be
'The Lord of the Rings Online\Plugins\Chiran\Songbook \'
You shouldn't need the turbine plugin package with Songbook, but it goes to under same 'Plugins' directory as well.

Okay, the plugins now show up on the Plugin Manager (thank you for that). Getting an error but there seems to be a fix for it so I'm working on it.

As you mentioned the '1457 error' in the first version of your posting: Before loading Songbook, you have to create your song list, either by the songbook.hta script in the Plugins\Chiran folder, or by using my stand-alone WAN Songbook Filler (caching the file contents and therefore faster).
You'll have to refresh the song list this way every time you change something in your Music (sub)folder(s) (before loading Songbook).

Yes, thanks Arnhor. Obviously the plugin _should_ load even if there's no library, and fail gracefully - if it weren't for this bug.
I've run into a problem with the songbook window in-game. I've tried uninstalling the plugin and reinstalling it, but for some reason, the game settings for it never change. I had the window open in-game, then changed my mode from full screen to windowed. Now the Songbook window is forever cut off up top. I cannot find a command prompt to move it around or anything, please help me.

I have a fix for this but releasing it just got delayed for some not too good reasons heh. But you can perhaps unload the plugin and delete SongbookSettings.plugindata file. It's at \The Lord of the Rings Online\PluginData\<lotrouser>\ AllServers\. Then load the plugin again.
Or you can even edit the file with Notepad and change coordinates for WindowPosition. Do this while the plugin is not loaded.
I think I know this issue so I'll just paste here what I posted on LotroI. Hopefully it will help you as well.

Hey Chiran, i've had the same problem for a while. Love your plugin and i'm really disapointed that i cannot use it anymore because of that problem. I can't say when the problem started (witch game update or plugin update). If it help you, here's some other info about the problem. When i move my pointer about, i can get the tooltip info for every button/quickslot, when i click on the invisible buttons, it still works. If i click on the setting button, the option panel open up and i can see it clearly. I tried to look around in the SettingsWindow.lua file for any "opacity" setting but there is nothing (wanted to compare with SongbookWindow.lua) I also tried changing the opacity to 1 to no avail.
My game is set to english, my PC is Window 7 Home Premium SP1, went to my settings and my location is set to Canada, format to English (Canada), and keyboard is set to English (Canada) - Canadian Multilingual Standard
Perhaps there is a way to completely disable window opacity like in the setting window so its always visible?

I released a new version but you probably have to to delete that SongbookSettings.plugindata which is at \The Lord of the Rings Online\PluginData\<your lotro user>\AllServers\. Or you have to change the opacity setting to 1 in that file as I described. Just note that it's not the SettingsWindow.lua file that you mentioned.

AWESOME! downloaded the new plugin, went to SongbookWindow.lua and changed every part of "windowopacity" to 1...
