Putting the user name is sort of silly. OP/author, change this to:
%USERPROFILE%
The script is using environment variables to automatically locate the Windows user directory. The user name that is needed is LOTRO user name. However, starting from version 0.52, the script detects this automatically by reading the Launcher configuration file.

Ah, ok. But then why did you write this?

Got a bit confusing perhaps, but I was talking about why the external .hta script must know LoTRO user name. It needs it to copy the song library to the directory where the in-game plugin can read it from.
Anyway, I released version 0.60 with the changes discussed with NazgulLord previously. As always, waiting for bug reports hehe. Because the database structure changed, you have to run the songbook.hta script to refresh your library before using the plugin.

That makes much more sense now. Sorry to confuse what you meant in this thread.

Installed and tested the newest version of this. Love it! Everything seems to work smooth as can be, the interface is very easy to understand, and I think this will be a boon to all those who like to play music but have a hard time typing out the full commands without the inevitable typo.
I look forward to seeing how well this incorporates this Sunday.
Just this guy, you know.

Just have to say I've been using this for a bit now and absolutely love it. I've loved doing the in game music, but haven't much in the past just because of how much trouble I had sometimes remembering all the songs I had and not making typos and so forth. This is a wonderful addition that opens everything up to me in game. Very very nice, and very well done.

The latest version (0.71) is Nov patch compatible. It also includes a new search feature and a experimental custom commands feature with which you can paste song information to a chat channel using customizable commands. There are 3 example commands you can use to try out the feature. You can use the mouse wheel to cycle trough the commands when the mouse is on the "S" (for Share) button.
Hey-ho,
i'm a new user of the plugin (well i'd like to be, anyway), but am having trouble loading it.
I'm getting the following error message:
...\Plugins\Chiran\Songbook\So ngbookWindow.lua:972: attempt to concatenate field 'Id' (a nil value)
The plugin version is v0.71, downloaded the latest available Turbine package too.
Could someone help me, please? All the other installed plugins are working fine.

Hi,
I would suggest that you delete SongbookSettings.plugindata file in the PluginData folder. It looks like you might have quickly tried an earlier version sometime? I have to fix that though.
Don't remember having tried the plugin before... In fact, i do not have a SongbookSettings.plugindata file anywhere. I just installed the plugin as any other, ran the hta file then tried to load it - so far to no avail.

Re: [Plugin] Songbook
Hi Chiran,
First off, I'm 100% completely new to plugins (in fact this is the first plugin im actually thinking of installing lol).
Anyways, I'm having a problem trying to install your plugin onto my computer. First off, after unziping the file i downloaded off the site, there's no file named "songbook.hta"
So I assumed that the file "Songbook" was the file you and others were talking about in their tutorials on how to install this plugin, so I double clicked to run it, and this is what came up
so, its not finding my data. (FYI the part I painted over is my real name) You can see in the first picture, I've placed it in the plugins folder in my Lord of the rings online folder (just as the instructions said to), but it can't find my user data.
help me please? D:

One thing that might be possible is the duplication of the Chiran folder.
From the screencap it looks like you have:
Documents>LOTRO>Plugins>Chiran >Chiran - then inside that all the files for the plugin
That last Chiran folder should be cut, and all the data inside the first one... IE
Documents>LOTRO>Plugins>Chiran
Try that and see if it works. I just installed it about a week or two ago and it's working fine.
It's an awesome plug-in, and I feel nekkid if I don't load it and see its little note icon floating on my scrren.

Songbook is a bit trickier than most other plugins since it requires an external script to do some work. But can't help that unfortunately. :-(
As Widmore mentioned, that folder structure is at least something to look at.
However, the screenshot from the songbook.hta looks a bit weird too. Or maybe there's some layout problem. It should anyway have an select box with your Lotro user name on it, that is, if everything works correctly. After you've pressed the button it should give feedback on how many songs it found in your Lord of the Rings Online/Music/ directory. If it found 0, then there's another problem to solve as well.

thanks for the help folks. I deleted the duplicate Chiran folder (made sure all the important files were in the first one before deleting), and ran the Songbook script again. This time it worked properly, found my lotro username and found my songs and stuff. Going to try loading it in-game now, and will let you all know how it goes

I found a problem. If you DO NOT have IE selected as your browser, the .hta file will not run. I found I had to open IE, then open the songbook.hta file from the file dropdown menu to get it to run. Or I could have selected IE to be the default browser (nah.... )
Also Taelaeri, Hobbit Minstrel 55; Sunlir, Elf Champion 36; Namri, Hobbit Burgler 61; Vaer, Dwarf Rune Caster 31; Eadalwaru, human Burglar 31; and Eadalstan, Human Captain 36; Vaerlk, Dwarf Guardian 26; Calagsun, Elf Minstrel 23; Sunlair, Elf Guardian 23; Faeled, Hobbit Minstrel 22; plus the other accounts.

Actually it is not about the default browser. I don't have IE as the default browser either. It's just about whether .hta files are registered to be opened with IE. I guess I could have made an .exe file but I was more familiar with scripting languages (such as VBScript) and I do know that plugin/addon communities aren't too comfortable with 3rd party executables. Though on the other hand VBScript does have it's problems as well, but at least the source code is plainly visible for those interested .
First, let me say I love this plugin! However, I had a LOT of trouble getting it to load and what I learned may help someone else. No matter how many times I extracted the files, Songbook just wouldn't load in LOTRO; the game didn't even list it as a plugin at all. Finally, after reading the forums and FAQs for the umpteenth time I noticed that my LOTRO install came with a "PluginData" folder, not a "Plugins" folder. (I downloaded and began playing the game in October 2011.) I renamed the folder, but the rename didn't stick when I reloaded the game and the plugin still didn't work. So I simply added a folder named "Plugins," extracted Songbook to it, and voila! It works beautifully! If you want to make the most of the LOTRO music system, the Songbook plugin rocks!

It's probably related to the access rights of scripts. But at the moment I'm not sure how to fix it. I'll have to get back to you on that, sorry :-(.
hey erm someone told me that my songbook library creator doesnt work because it can`t find my username maybe got some suggestions to solve that?
No I don't think that's the reason at least. The one you mentioned looks like a script error. If the script runs properly, but cannot find your Lotro username, it will give an input box for typing it yourself.
Which Windows version are you using?
You could try opening the windows command prompt with administrator rights. Then run songbook.hta from there. That's is a bit different whether you are on XP or Vista/7.
Another thing that might cause some problems is the Internet Explorer script debugger. You can disable it by following the instructions in here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822521

It's the console window where you can type dos commands. No idea what's it called in other languages, sorry. Then you need to use dos commands to navigate to the place where the songbook.hta is located, and then run songbook.hta by typing the filename. But I really have no idea if it would help, just a wild guess.
However, I'll try to come up with an alternative to songbook.hta. It will take more than a few days though :-/.

First you have to start the console by right clicking it and selecting 'run as administrator'. Then in the console you would write the full directory path to songbook.hta. For example with one command (and replace with your own info):
c:\Users\*****\Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\Plugins\*****\Songbook. hta <press enter>
Of course depending on where you copy the Songbook.hta.
