Thread: Only Way To Get Mirkwood Is Through Store?

On the account login page, the banner says "Mirkwood Now Available, Sign In Below To Upgrade Now!" But there is no upgrade button. Is the banner wrong, or am I missing the button somewhere? I'm L60 and I want to buy Mirkwood, but I'm afraid to use the store. I would have to buy points successfully. And then I would have to try to use the points successfully. Is this the only way of getting Mirkwood? Should I be this worried about using the store for this purchase?

That banner must be a holderover from pre-F2P, but yes, it appears that the store is the only way to get Mirkwood. I have successfully purchased points and used them. However, I would suggest doing so at off-oeak times for now. And be sure to keep your email reciept(s) until you're sure you actually have access to the Mirkwood expansion. That's my personal opinion, anyway.

I spoke with Account Support Jeremy and he confirmed that the only way to upgrade to Mirkwood was to do so through the LOTRO store and it would not be visible until the Mines of Moria had been purchased. As of yesterday he indicated the price was 1,990 points for Mirkwood expansion.
