Okay all, v1.08 has been released that fixes a few bugs/issues that I've run across recently.
The latest version according to lotrointerface is 1.07.2, did you forget to send the new file to them or are they just being really slow in posting it?

Nope, it was my fault. I just forgot to update the version number on the file. File was 1.08, and now LotroInterface shows the same
Lotrointerface is still showing version 1.07.2 being the latest and greatest for me.
EDIT: Nevermind. The downloaded file is named 1.07.2, but the .plugin file in the download says 1.08. I'll learn to read the comments on lotrointerface first before posting here.

I have been having a problem lately with palantir.
In these two screenshots I show I have only loaded 2 plugins. In the 2nd one, I show the error that occurs after just using one fear pot. Also when just palantir is loaded, the same error occurs. When just buffbars is loaded there is no error.

This is a known issue, but at this point one that doesn't have a known solution. Considering how recent the issues have been, I can only assume that it has to do with v1.08, and since I've been unable to replicate this issue yet, I'd like to give a possible reason/solution for it.
Starting with v1.08, coolDowns are now being stored in a separate settings file than what they used to be. This was done to make it so that cooldown settings were always stored per character, regardless of chosen scope (i.e. account/server).
Because of this, when Palantir loads the first time, all of the cooldown settings will be completely blank, possibly resulting in this "nil" error message. So please make sure these boxes are filled with actual numbers (even for skills without a cooldown - just put in 0), and see if this fixes the issue.
Please let me know if this actually does fix the problem, so I can let others know.
I then clicked on a pot and there was no error again. Hopefully some of these more goofy errors will be cleaned up with the release of more and better language. Not on your part. You have done an excellent job. I have liked Palantir since beta.

Ah very good to hear
While I could've put in some code to automatically fill the boxes with zero if there's no data, something I will do in an update that will be released sometime this afternoon/evening, it's nice to know that I don't have to spend hours finding a problem that I currently don't see on my end
---------------------
Since I just mentioned the update, I'm going to kill two birds with one stone and put down the changes that are going to be coming with v1.08.1, when I release it later.
This update mainly will address display issues involving hiding the UI (F12) and repositioning the UI (Ctrl+\) Namely:
When hiding the UI with the setup window open, the setup window will hide as well, and when hitting F12 again, palantir and the setup window will display correctly
When hiding and displaying the UI, Palantir will remember "Show only in combat" and hide debuff bar settings.
Palantir will now display when you enter UI Positioning mode (Ctrl+/) if it's set to show only in combat. It will also return to its appropriate settings when exiting that mode.
Combinations of Hide UI/Positioning modes will work closer to how it works with other elements. Namely, entering into Positioning mode while the UI is hidden will not display the positioning window until you choose to show the UI.
Finally, if a cooldown hasn't been set since v1.08, Palantir will automatically replace nil values with 0, to avoid errors.
This is released...it will be available at LotROInterface once it has been approved.

I'm running v1.07.2 and as soon as I use a pot of any type Palantir goes nuts any time any action is taken: I use a skill, I get a heal, something dies, someone dies.
Other plugins in use are: buffbars 1.1.3 (this is where I have my pots), and lotropad 0.71.

Due to the changes in which file which Palantir saves cooldown information, you need to reset your cooldowns. The cause for this error, is if you notice in your options, all the cooldown settings are blank (i.e. nil).
Or, you could simply just get v1.08.1, which will automatically set any nil cooldown to zero upon loading. Please let me know if you continue to have problems
Without reading the change logs, I didn't have this problem with 1.04 which I upgraded from on 10-10-2010 to 1.07.2; but I digress and shall download and install 1.08 which is dated 10-04-2010 and is labeled qx_Palantir-1.07.2.zip on the lotrointerface site
*EDIT*
The cool down auto set didn't auto set, but it works after manually setting everything to 0.

Alright - basically all this confusion is my fault. When I released v1.08, I forgot to change the file version at LotroInterface, even though the actual plugin version, as well as the byline text (i.e. Palantir vX.XX by Digital_Utopia) was labled correctly. Since you got that error, chances are that you downloaded it before I fixed the version number at LotROInterface, and thus were actually using 1.08
it's v1.08.1 that should autoset the cooldowns to zero-which is the version you'll get if you just hit the download button. Again, sorry for the confusion
v1.08.2 has been released - this fixes a display issue, and adds a couple of "Ease of Use" options. Namely:
Palantir was suffering from short-term memory loss when a player changed the "Show Debuff Bar" setting and proceeded to hide/show the UI (F12) before unloading/reloading. This has been fixed with Post-it Notes where applicable.
Palantir will now automatically center itself on the player's screen if no settings exist for that account/server/character (i.e. first run).
A "Recenter Palantir" button has been added to the top of the "Main" options panel. This does exactly what you'd expect it to do. Unless of course, you were expecting it to make you a sandwich or something.
Just wanted to let everybody know that all current and previous versions of Palantir will stop functioning once the November update goes live, due to the changes in the API coming with that update. There will be a new version of Palantir available when that update goes live, and I will be posting a link for a beta version within the next day or so, if you would like to use/test Palantir on bullroarer.
At this point I'm undecided on whether I will include any significant new features in this beta - with most of the changes being compatibility, tweaks, or usability/code improvements relating to new/fixed features.
The beta version will be a completely different plugin (named PalantirB) so if you choose to download it, you can do so without having to overwrite your version for use on live. You will however have to reapply your settings, as it will also use a different set of settings files)
Current BETA changelog (does not include compatibility changes)
Cooldown values will default at zero if no settings are found
Options panel will now allow other LotRO panels to appear in front of it if they're clicked on (note: At this point, you will have to click on the Palantir options panel at least once)
The HUD portion now has an even lower ZOrder, making it always appear behind everything else. Previously it could appear in front of panels that didn't have focus.
The bullroarer edition of Palantir is available now at LotROInterface.com, and a link will be provided as soon as it's available. This version contains the following changes:
Palantir 1.09b
build 1 - (10/30/2010)
Various compatibility changes to make Palantir work with the changes to the API
Options window will now behave closer to standard LotRO windows in regards to stacking/focus
Palantir has an even lower ZOrder, preventing it from appearing above windows without focus.
did some tweaking with bar text position to improve appearance when text is set to bottom-outside
You can now change the color of bar text! This is located under each Bar color picker on the Color pane
Debuff bar cooldown indicator borders are tied into debuff bar opacity, and the cooldown indicators themselves are tied into debuff bar indicator opacity.
Bar structure has been changed again to separate the "fill" from the background, allowing the opacity for both parts to be adjusted independently. This will allow the eventual inclusion of pulsing/flashing effects at specified levels.

Palantir 1.08.3 has been released at LotROInterface.com, most of the changes are in response to the EU launch, including a fix for the "Unable to Parse" error, localization detection, and French and German translations of the Options Panel.
In addition to this, the text display for the Bottom-Outside has been tweaked, and cooldowns will now default to 0 on first run.
I'd like to take this time to thank Vevenalia and Onori for their work on the translations, as well as Vevenalia for testing this version on the EU client.
I may have found a bug in the most recent version or maybe it has always been like this and I've just never noticed it before. I've been managing to fire off the poison cures (the only one I have slotted 100% of the time as I'm a burg and it is a skill) when the HUD has not been up. For example, I'll be riding up to an ore node, dismount, rt. click on ore node to start mining and I'll end up using my poison cure.
It is probable that when I'm clicking on the node, it is right where the invisible poison cure button is and that is setting it off. If you've always been able to use the cures when the HUD has been invisible and I've just never noticed this before, then sorry for this, but as I said, I've never had it happen before this version.
First off, It seems I'm getting really bad about posting updates on this thread - hopefully the majority of you have been keeping an eye on LotROInterface. If any of you are experiencing performance issues after downloading v1.09, I strongly suggest you download v1.09.1 - as it includes a fix that will make Palantir perform as it did before.

First off, there's no reason to apologize. If something isn't working like you feel it should, chances are I don't want it to work like that either
I assume this is happening after Palantir hides itself? (i.e. you have it set to show only in combat?) It's quite possible, that for whatever reason, the quickslots aren't hiding correctly when the rest does. I'll look into it and make another post here when I've discovered the cause and released a fix. Thanks again for reporting this behavior
Edit
Bug found and killed, v1.09.2 is pending at LotROInterface. Apparently even if a parent of the quickslot (i.e. the bar) is made invisible, the quickslots stay active even if you can't see them.

Real life has interfered more than I would like - but it hasn't stopped me from thinking - a lot - about the future of Palantir. Save for any patches due to API changes, v1.x has seen its last update. I've come to realize that adding any more features to it would be an exercise in frustration as, while it was a lot better written than the original Enedwaith beta version, it was pretty much written for just those three bars.
At this point, Palantir 2.0 is pretty much planned out - meaning I have mostly settled on exactly what I want it to be, how I want it to act, and how everything will be laid out. While screenshots, mockups and other images are a little ways off, at least until the code structure is ironed out, I felt it was time to give you an idea of what that plan is, and allow you the chance to put in your own two cents. You can read that here. Feel free to either comment directly in that thread, or this one. So far I feel I've been very fortunate to be on the same page - development wise, with those who are interested in a HUD for LotRO. While I feel confident that I know what you want from Palantir, I never want to be so bold and stupid to just assume so.
I know this feature is not currently possible with the current API, but I'm going to suggest it anyways:
In the event that Turbine ever gives us programmatic access to raid wide power/morale bars..... any chance that you'd be willing to add functionality to Palantir that shows the current power/morale of everyone in the fellow/raid?
Preferably as a toggle option so that those of us that DO care about that information can see it, while those of us that don't will still see the same Palantir we've come to know and love.
oh i loved the vitals bar very very cool finally got it installed correctly took me a little while to figure it out the right way but its working now am new to this, but having fun with it, thanks all for designing it. i love it.
