Farm it out to a web development company.

While I did file a community bug report. I wanted to post here so people would try and take notice and file if they see it as well.

I've got characters appearing on my character tab that are most definately not mine.. I dont even have characters out of the intro on Laurelin, let alone a level 28 minstrel with a name I've never seen.

Majority of the links including the menu bar entities and the hyperlinks to posts from the New Forum Posts widget/page does not seem to work for me majority of the time. I click on a link and the page does the load animation but comes back to where I am or sometimes goes to the main Forum's page.
Also when replying to a thread, an error message, (see screen shot Link below) that I cannot do the specified operation and I need to log in, appears multiple times in a row while I am logged in all that time, and then after several attempts, and lots of frustration it works finally.

Its really annoying.

I've never seen this before, while I am free to play it has never been a problem before. I can still see other posts and threads is this just a problem with that thread or did you guys change something?

The old thread may have been archived, or locked/restricted (For violating the NDA, or many other things.)

I am unable to change the avatar for my kinship. It worked fine for my personal avatar but when I try to change my kinship avatar... when I get to the "select an area to use" for cropping, I cannot click anything... The "cropped image" preview stays black. What's more is... If I use an avatar with a transparency, it fails but sets my kinship avatar to solid black. If I use the same avatar but add a black background in photoshop, the avatar actually shows a "missing image" icon...

Nothing works with the whole community site. I am only getting errors! On all my characters, except my Monster char I don't care about!

I cannot even access My Preferences without getting the same error:

Error: An error occurred while processing your request. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Is this because we are European players? If so! When will we ever be able to make use of the mylotro features??
As I thought when moving away from codemasters to Turbine, that we would finally be able to make use of mylotro! :-/

Nearly the whole european community is bugged. Somebody on the german forums did a bit of testing around. It seems to be related to "old" kinships, when you have a character in a kinship, that was founded preF2P. Said poster left the kinship with all his chars and everything was working fine. The moment he joined back, the blog, character sheets etc. were buggy again. Several others replied, that they are indeed in an old kinship and are having the problem, while people who dont have the problem stated, that they arent in a kinship at all or in a very young one.

Guild recreation cant be an option, because we would loose the guild house etc. So can someone please tell us, if you are currently working on this and what timeframe we have to expect.

Sorry if this has been answered, but I'm not about to go digging through 25 pages of posts...

The top post lists this issue as resolved (or, at least I assume that's what the strikethrough means):

• Players with multiple subscriptions on same account will only be able to use one profile on the community site. If you have an old beta or trial account this may be the account selected (it will only have Free Player access). We will fix this issue as quickly as possible.

Yet I'm still having a similar problem. I only have one account. It is a Founder's account and was a beta account waaaaay back when. When I log in to the community site, I seem to have both a beta and a regular account. The beta account can access all of the forums but doesn't show any character or game data attached to it. The normal account seems to be attached to my actual game account, yet only has free player access to the forums. What gives?

Edit: Never mind. I logged in this morning and all seems to be fixed now - the beta account has no forum access at all and the normal account has everything it should. It would really be nice if the beta account didn't get automatically selected every time I log in but that's small potatoes.

I've noticed a problem which I didn't see addressed, so perhaps you can help me.

I've recently made a kin named 'NRA' on Elendilmir, and have been trying to format our Kinship Page.

So far, the edits have been fine, except for the avatar.

You see, I created a kin 'crest' using Gimp, and have been trying to upload it. The site will allow me to select the file and upload it, but when the scaling option appears, It won't let me do anything. This leads to both sized avatars just appearing black.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

1) I changed the name of my Kinship. When clicking the kinship in the title bar it still has the old name.

2) I have deleted many old Alt Chars and still they show up in my character list (Mainly on Meneldor and Silverlode, but Vilya too.)

3) Does not show recent activity of friends Chars.

4) I have selected my main char to display when selecting chars from the tab. It still displays an old char thats been deleted a LONG time ago.

5) When the char screen comes up with the old char. It says I need to log in with that char to get updated. Even though hes been deleted.

I know there are some other problems. Not coming to me right now though LOL.

ANY info would be great.

When going to News / Release Notes / Game Releases and then press Releases / Latest, the most recent update shown there is from March 2011 (in stead of the newest).

Seems this is a problem that's been here for some time then...
Is it THAT hard to get this forum up and running as normal?
I've adminned forums for over 10 years now, never had this kind of stuff.
Come on Turbine, I can't even make changes to my profile.
Let just 1 someone deal with this, who knows what he's doing, for about half a day, and your site can be fully functional again!
Or get a decent make forum, if this one sucks that much...

I see that no one has suggestions. Well, I thought the avatar for the kinship not showing up might be a size issue, so I tried resizing it various times. Unfortunately, this did nothing.

It could be that the file size is too large, but if that's the case, I'm not sure what I could do to lessen it without affecting quality.

Any valuable input would be much appreciated!

I made a bookmark of the dev tracker (http://forums.lotro.com/turbine_tracker.php?tracker=dev) and everytime (once a day) when I use this link to get to the newest dev posts it sends me to the startpage of the forums (http://forums.lotro.com/index.php). I dont know why but it seems that i have to be in a logged session before I can enter different parts of the forum. And this logged session always starts at the same page. (index.php)

Another bug is this:

The clipping problems occour in Firefox, maybe because of the german translation which has longer words. No Problems in IE...
Here are some renaming suggestions to solve this probem:
Start | Tipps | Shop | Neues | Support (or "Hilfe")| Foren | Lorebook | Kalender | Ranglisten | Tubine Punkte (better re-move to "shop") | Charaktere (better remove) | Sippen
Or Simply adjust the fontsize... When i adjust the overall fontsize (strg+) of firefox so that the tabs dont overlap, everything is way too small.

I see two (possibly related) problems:

- I cannot access all of my characters on the website. When I try to access some of my characters I get this message: "Error: An error occurred while processing your request. We apologize for the inconvenience." The funny thing is: my characters are divided over two different kinships. I can access all characters in kinship A, and I can access none of the characters that are in kinship B. I asked a friend from kinship B and he experienced the same problem! He can't see his characters from kinship B either.

- When I click the kinship tab, after a couple of seconds I get an HTTP error 310: "Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS): There were too many redirects."

It would be nice if these problems were fixed.

edit: might be good to add that I am a former EU player... all of my characters are from the same server so no differences there.

This situation is a known problem with some older EU kinships. Codemasters used a different data scheme for their servers than Turbine. There is EU and NA data format. Turbine's tooling can't interact with some of the EU data. Newer kinships don't have this issue.

Until Turbine gets around to (which may be never) writing a tool to modify the data for older kinships, you are stuck withthe issue. There is another way to solve it - You could disband the kinship. Recreate the kinship which would result in the the kinship data being in the correct format. Turbine could update to read the older kinship data again this solution may be a never get done.

• no public access to charters in my kingship. i cant view them via Characters->Worldname->Charname, but i could view them via the Characters via the Character Sheet at "Home".
• perfectly access to charters outside my kingship. (if i dismiss a char from the kingship i could view the char public a few hours later. other way around: if i invite a char to the kingship i loose public access to the invited char.)

Good luck with it, soon it will be a year ago that we have that problem and you know what? They won't solve it.

The biggest issue and most irritating one to me is the site continuously logging me off rather than remembering to keep me logged in. Very irritating.

My characters are not showing up properly here in the Forum. I have levelled two of my characters, my Guardian to 19 and my Captain from 7 to 12, and the Guardian still shows his old level. Also the Crafting levels are not showing properly either, but I think that's an old bug. The level thing is an issue when it comes to Lotteries, though, since I can not get my Cappie on any Lottery and my Hunter is about to go to 61- same issue.

OR is it just me and Turbine has simply selected me at Random to do evil things to? ;-D

Let me guess... next post will be, "Nope, not random at all.."

I'm not sure if the following is a known error but when I visit the my.lotro page in https I get a error message that this website needs a different Google Maps API Key.. I've not noticed this error before the last maintenance so maybe someone forgot to put the right API Key back after updating the https build..?
Once I click OK on the error the HTTPS status goes invalid as well..

System: Windows 7 (64 bit)
Browser: Google Chrome

So.... one year after migration and still no access to character or kinship related data... I'm disappointed and frustrated...

It is ugly and I'm not quite sure if there is just one thing covered up. I do know that it does this with at least three types of browsers, starting with the highly used Firefox.

The box is not wide enough to fit the kinship tab on there, so it collapses on the next line. The kinship button is the only one that does it, or you would see more buttons added to the right of the kinship button.

I'm sure this has been reported before in here. Perhaps even by me, a year or so ago. I've got the bug again where read private messages are not being counted as actually read - they're always 'new'! This bug started again maybe 1 week ago.

The last time I had this bug I had a suspicion other new messages weren't coming in, either. I don't know if this other issue is happening as well this time, I'm hoping not. Thank you for your time.

same here. The message is very annoying when browsing the page via https

Dropdowns on certain threads automatically show every option within the thread on every post in the thread when the user’s view is set to 20 or more posts.

First Page says that this is fixed.
Today I was searching the Forums and on every Thread and Thread Overview all the Dropdown
were showing up completely, I can't read the Announcements in the Beta Forum because the
dropdown Windows lays over the Content. (And some threads had only 3 posts)

has been deleted?!?!?! I don't know if everyone is having this issue, but the few I talked with in game said they had the same problem. So now I need to try and remember all my friends names and resubmit them, or will LOTRO put my friends list back? :-s

You arent the only one with this issue as me and several others are too I hope they fix it, some of the names I had I cant remember it will be bad if they are all gone.

friends list appear to be showing again, but not showing accurately. The other day (after friends list was restored) it showed my brother as being level 75 and in Trestlebridge, when he was in fact in the Wold and level 77. sigh. I know probably many other things bugged more important, but this would be nice to be fixed.

Another question I have is how to get past friendship status with new areas? I've done most of the quests, and finished quest deeds, but task boards no longer give reputation, so how do we get to kindred status with each group?

You have to do the daily quests to rebuild Hytbold (sorry, can't remember how to spell it). Doing those will give you daily quests in each area- up to 5 a day- that will also earn your reputation with each area.

Isn't it about time to take the forums out of Beta? I mean how many years have we had them for now? 2?

The only gripe me and the hubby have really is the fact that despite ticking the remember me box when logging in, the site will randomly log us out again. That and in chrome sometimes clicking an external link to the forums just brings up the main page. Same with the search function. Not sure if that's a Chrome issue or a forum issue though.

The Known Issues List needs an update since Patience doesnt work here any more.

I started a new kinship, Dawn Riders on Nimrodel a week ago. It lists on searches and my personal page, but when I actually try to follow the link in order to set up a page, I get the message "The blog you have requested is not installed properly. Please contact the system administrator."

I use Win 7 64bit. The same thing happens whether using Firefox (17.0 Beta) or Chrome (22.0).

I see others have faced this issue for blogs, but evidently there is nothing I can do on my side other than report the problem.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

They haven't bothered with the known issues on this website for years, so there's no sense in worrying about them. The site has been broken since Mines of Moria.
