Known Issues for the LOTRO Community Site
We've put together a list of issues gathered from our own experience and player feedback. Please let us know in this thread of other issues you may find; we are still updating the list (and will remove items as they are fixed).
General Issues- Performance may be intermittently affected as the network team moves servers around.
- Your browser may give a security warning. Please be aware that login IS secure and this warning is in error. If you are concerned about these warnings, we suggest you do not log in until we have resolved the issue.
- If you have ever had a name change, your account name may have reverted to the original name. We are working on a fix for this.
Players with multiple subscriptions on same account will only be able to use one profile on the community site. If you have an old beta or trial account this may be the account selected (it will only have Free Player access). We will fix this issue as quickly as possible.Please note thatlotteries andtournaments are currently intentionally offline!Messaging is now a global system and your messages on the community site are temporarily empty. These will be migrated shortly.- CSS broken on profile page; dropdowns don’t work under some color schemes, can’t change color scheme on profile page (button doesn’t work).
- If you change the color scheme so you’re using dark fonts/light background on the menus, the dropdown menus on your nav at the top right of the screen (My Blog, My Preferences, etc.) still have white text and are difficult to read.
- Upload field does not always appear when trying to select an avatar, re-logging seems to fix it.
- Moria CE avatar is gone.
Formatting in blog entries may be incorrect (missing paragraph breaks, etc.).- Previously uploaded images may not display because the paths have changed. This will be fixed on our end.
Font sizes jump around.Font size too small on some monitors (as a temporary workaround, increase browser font size by holding CTRL while scrolling the mouse wheel up).A white box with "false" may appear when mousing over menus in some browsers.Avatar uploads are currently problematic. You may not be able to upload or replace an avatar until this is fixed.
- When scrolling down the front page with a mouse wheel, if your mouse lands on the Google map it will begin to scroll the map instead of the page.
Too easy to mouse over Moderation when moving to Reply so the menu pops up causing the user to click on the wrong option- Changes to color themes will only “stick” if made on the player’s home page.
Missing Kinship category link to Lorebook
No navigation to player-created categoriesNo bullets on pages; CSS has removed wiki formatting
Accept and Reject are close together so it’s easy to accidentally reject someone- No feedback sometimes when clicking on Request Friendship
- No indication on profile page that there’s a context menu for the person’s name
- If you had a custom avatar image, you will need to re-upload it.
- WYSIWYG editor buttons may be very difficult to see on some color schemes
No way to view a player’s posting history on the forumsNew style private messages don't allow you to click on the user name and pull up their details.Join dates were all reset to September 2010.Reply with Quote is small and clear across the screen from the Reply to Thread button.Dropdowns on certain threads automatically show every option within the thread on every post in the thread when the user’s view is set to 20 or more posts.“Moderation” menu is not intuitive (and should be renamed)- The Reputation icon is almost hidden; it’s the same gray as the background.
Reputation is enabled for admins again. (Admins will not use it.) - Emoticons blend in to some background colors.
The "jump to page" dropdown appears over the clickable page numbers on some pages- The icon for "Hot thread with unread posts" and "Hot thread with no unread posts" appear to be the same. The icon for unread posts should be an open scroll.
Global search that displays forum posts only displays the thread title(works as intended, please use "Forums" option when searching for forum posts, or use Advanced Search)Searching forums often returns no results.

Re: Known Issues for the LOTRO Community Site
When I mouse over the tabs at the top (My LOTRO, News & Articles, Forums etc.) I get a white box on the left hand side that says "false" without the quotes.
It doesn't go away if I move the mouse off the tabs. It does go away at times but I have no idea what I am doing to make it go away.

Multiple Lifetime Subscriptions under the same account also will not permit posting to the Forums.
I do not have a trial or Beta account, so not sure why I am prevented from posting.

Re: Known Issues for the LOTRO Community Site
When you hold your mouse over the poster's name in a post, there is as drop down menu. Sometimes you can't click on some of menu items because the menu closes too soon. So far I've seen this when the drop down menu opens over a quoted text box in the message. The menu will close as soon as the mouse is over the part of the menu overlaying the quoted text box.

Re: Known Issues for the LOTRO Community Site
Also this might or might not be part of the multiple account one. I been set up like this since the original beta. I actually had 2 forum names and somehow I got stuck with the one that I had been using for the past 3 years, now I have to log in with the original alfa forum name. Give me a pm I give you more details if you need them.
Any other forum and I get the you must have a active account. We were discussing it in this thread. So I guess this is similar to the multiple account issue, but I don't have multiple accounts tied to a single name just a different forum name vs login name.

Re: Known Issues for the LOTRO Community Site
The multiple accounts issue is just dealing with LotRO accounts. Having a DDO account integrated w/ your main Turbine information will also mess up posting rights.

Re: Known Issues for the LOTRO Community Site
Fathomer of Riddles avatar is missing.
Uploading custom avatar does not work properly. I cannot get the small avatar to work at all despite it showing properly on the preview, and the large avatar looks right but then does not display as it looks after I've uploaded it. Trying to upload a second, different avatar image doesn't work well at all - after I upload a secind image to try to change the first, I still see the first image (now distorted) in the preview - then some botched version of the second once I give up on trying to edit the one I can't see.Lyriell, Elf Guardian of Carpe Jugulum

I am pretty sure that had to be set by an administrator. I'm not sure how much value it has now that people can upload custom avatars, but we can certainly restore your custom title at the very least.
I think I've seen this a couple of times now - can you try logging out and logging back in?“Behold the Chinchillas! They ride to war!”

Re: Known Issues for the LOTRO Community Site
I'm confused as to whether this means that multiple subscriptions are able to use only one profile at the moment and this is being fixed, or whether it means that multiple subscriptions will only EVER be able to use one profile.
If the latter, can we have an explanation as to how we will be able to access characters on the community site that are on not the subscription used for the profile? I'm by no means a whiz at this stuff, but I can't see a way to see my other subscriptions except as a guest visiting that page, since I only have one logon.
Many thanks for clarification.

My character are not under my account. Can't use any widgets that reference my character data. My characters also do no show up in skirmish leaderboard. Also, the community site think my user account is not active, and I can't post to the normal forums

Re: Known Issues for the LOTRO Community Site
I'm not sure if this sort of thing will be corrected with the profile issues but thought it was worth mentioning.
I appear to have 2 separate my.lotro blogs.
My old one still working from a bookmark I have and has all my info still available. The url appears to be forwarding from my previous address as I was goldenstar not user-988354
http://my.lotro.com/user-988354/
And my new one with my new assumed forum name Goldy_Lhim
http://my.lotro.com/user-43208/
Also the recent blogs widget on the home page is not showing recent posts (still from sept 8th)

Thanks!

Re: Known Issues for the LOTRO Community Site
It was posted a bit earlier in the thread that DDO accounts may cause the problem - is this true? I'm thinking not. My DDO account info (incl. forum name) is different. The forum name I had listed when I logged on to LOTRO (with my game login/pass .... *grrr* -doesn't THAT feel non-secure) is the forum name I used back in the beta testing days 3.5 years ago. As for the multiple-account thing: I only have 1 LOTRO account.
I don't know if this info. helps you guys in solving this irritating problem of not being able to post (or more importantly file bugs of which I'm having a few in-game).

Re: Known Issues for the LOTRO Community Site
Some guides in the forums have the top menu selection repeated throughout the guide. It looks like it occurs where there are predefined #references to jump down the page from a Table of contents. EDIT: I noticed it on the Legendary Item guide in the Legendary Item forum.
Also, the menu drilldown can be stacked on top of each other and unreadable. If you need me to send screenies, let me know where/who to send them to.
I'm using IE7 on Windows XP with 1280x1024 resolution.
Hope this helps!!!

Statistics are not being updated properly. This includes the skirmish log and activity log for each character. I checked the statistics for both the characters I have been using since the last update and they state that the characters haven't done anything since Labor Day.

Re: Known Issues for the LOTRO Community Site
Just got something to add. Browsing threads gives me some wierdness where a good portion of menus I'm assuming ones that are supposed to be available when hovering over a members name are showing up in the middle of the thread. (screenshots below) Hovering over the menus with my mouse in just the right position (once I find the right position) seems to make them disappear.

This makes it incredibly difficult read a thread.Last edited by MrsAngelD; Sep 10 2010 at 07:47 AM.

Re: Known Issues for the LOTRO Community Site
Well... if it isn't true then my account is bloody borked in a different way. I only have 1 LotRO account under my Turbine Account, but I have 2 DDO accounts (a prior subscriber and a Free Play). I can only post in the "Free" areas of the forums.
It could be, of course - now that I think of it, more related to those of us who Beta Tested the game (I didn't change my forum handle between Beta and Live). Though the whole "multiple account" bullet point makes me think it is related to the DDO accounts rather than Beta history.

Re: Known Issues for the LOTRO Community Site
To add to the list of avatar issues, please see the thread Avatar Issues.
The word "reset" worries me. Does this mean it is a permanent change or have our actual join dates not been lost and there is a fix in the works?
I'm hopeful that the poor use of the emoticons with the white halo (that don't blend into some backgrounds) is also being looked at. I see those are still a choice and while they have obvious colors to make them easy to see, using an image with the white halo is an extremely bad choice.

Re: Known Issues for the LOTRO Community Site
Those links themselves take you to the forum home page; what you want to be looking at is the drop-down menu that comes up when you hover over those links. They'll bring up each server then hovering over each server brings up a list of the characters on those servers.
~~~~~~~~~~
As a side note on this, clicking on "My Characters" and "My Kinships" shouldn't bring you to the forum home page. If they cannot bring you to a list of your characters and your kinships then it shouldn't take you anywhere, i.e. they should be linked to #.◊ Ophelia Darkfell ◊Master, Storm of the Valar"Love all, trust few, do wrong to none."I believe the words you're looking for are... Re: Known Issues for the LOTRO Community Site
I'm going to add this here, i apologize if its been brought up before. For the past several days since the revamp of the forums, my BF and I have been unable to log into the forums with our 'game login info' as stated.
My BF likes to have long complicated passwords using alphanumerics and symbols. With the long complicated password, i was unable to login to the forums, but i could login to the game. I went into my account page, and changed my password to something easily remembered, using only letters and numbers (no symbols), and now I am able to login to the forums.
I just wanted to post this for the people who are unable to login to the forums, to see if this would help them out; and to make the admins aware of it. Apparently the authentication cant handle passwords with symbols.
