Thread: Help for New Members!

Suillad, Imladdies and Imlassies!
I'm setting this thread up as a resource for first time LotRO players (and anybody else) who needs a hand with the ropes in this game. I'm also looking for volunteers.

If you need help in-game, look for any of the following people. You may see if they're online by sending ./who <name> or ./t <name> <message> or sending an in-game mail from a mailbox. Names listed horizontally are different characters of the same human player.

Just leave your name/nickname, and toon names (I realize you probably won't know for sure until launch, but that's why we have an edit button!) as a reply to this thread, and I'll add your name.

I had the same worry, but what will be, will be.

I'll post some names on the 8th. I know some that I want but who knows if I shall get them.

Who else wants to log in and create characters named after people in this thread just to annoy them?

i would never do that.... but ya i dont think you should let everyone know what name u intend to use. hah

That is a good point, but it's a little late now. Luckily, I have multiple characters on other servers (and on other MMOs, in fact) using those names, so I won't be too vexed to not have them on Imladris.

Already helping the new players. Never been much of a "kin" person, but started one on beta just to help out new players thinking I'd only have a dozen or so join up. Well now I'm up close to 400! We decided to reform, for those interested, on Brandywine, but starting here might be an interesting option.

I have a helpful advice episode of my videocast coming out on Sept. 7th, but also plan to be in here on the 10th to answer questions for the new LOTRO fans.

I'll definitely be out and about (hopefully on launch day) to help. I'll probably use one of the character names in my sig, and perhaps even start a kinship (if anyone wants to help ).

As for the kin, I'm planing on starting one,
and if you don't mind the name -- I'm pretty attached to it, but not clutching it in the foetal position -- I think co-founding it would be pretty cool.

I'm most definitely up for co-founding something; it's better off in the long run because I can't always be on to help run things.
As for the name, I'm fine with most anything as long as it's not... overly crazy .

I'm currently using all internet from Starbucks while attending 17 units of college classes, so I won't exactly be on 24/7, either .

I'd feel better having another leader there to help smooth things and to help patrol and be present when I can't be there

Basically the same thing for me, except I'm using dorm internet* and only 16 credit-hours .




*Surprisingly enough, the connection is actually pretty good.

The starbucks connection is pretty good, too.
A couple of flops now and then, but much better than the public library around here, which is liable to go down for a few hours without anybody giving a rat's derriere.

I'll be there to help also. Not sure which of my many names I'll choose but I'll be on to help the late-nighters if needed.

I'm eager to aid the newcomers as well! Sign me up.

I think the greatest help the older players could give would be farm/cooking and selling at AH...

Been around since launch and will be creating a new character here, certainly up for answering any questions new players might have. Add me to the list once I chuck up my characters name once he's created.

I would like to sign up for this. I will be around as either Aerik or Aelwyn.

Zach, I got my names (Bellus and Scormus), so they'll be around to help on the 10th. I even got that night off from work, so I'll be around a lot. You can include in the list Adrian, Calian and Den, all of whom are other names I grabbed today.

Managed to get my character created, so anyone with Q's hit up 'Rez'!

I'll be on and off throughout most late nights as my newborn hunter Andirien. usually online between 1AM and 5AM Eastern time. Currently I am still in Celondim.

I think the people on this server are great so far. Count me in to help... my characters are "Love" and "Hope". :-)
