I am a founder with the 9.99 subscription option. I discontinued my subscription back in 2007 but am interested in joining the F2P that launches on the 8th (currently in the beta). My question is, will I be able to move to and from VIP/Premium at any time for 9.99?
Also, I purchased the Moria complete edition (retail) a couple days ago but haven't added it to my account yet. Since it comes with 30 days free, will that screw up my account and create a second subscription (thereby losing the 9.99 founder rate) or will it merge into my current subscription?
I believe the 9.99 rate requires that you never unsub.
You can use the complete edition to upgrade your SoA account. You have to make sure you do it right. That key can be used to upgrade or create a new account. Based on the forum threads a lot of people end up creating a new account.

That's correct if you went inactive (sub ran out) you lost the founders pricing forever.
How do I qualify for Founders pricing?
Founder pricing will be offered to customers only as long as they meet the following criteria:
A valid Pre-order product key activated within 30 days after the LOTRO launch
Activated a retail product key within 30 days after the LOTRO launch
I am a Founder. What happens if I cancel my account?
If you cancel your lifetime subscription, you will be redirected to our Account Management website for lifetime members. If you selected the discounted recurring pricing plan and wish to cancel, you will receive a warning that you will lose your discounted pricing.
If you cancel your account but your subscription has not expired, you will still have the option to resume your account at founder's pricing. If your subscription has expired and you wish to resume your account, you can do so at the regular billing prices.
Any characters on the cancelled account will remain on the account if the account is ever reactivated.
When is the latest I can register for Founders pricing?
It is no longer possible to register for Founders pricing.
The latest someone could have registered for Founders pricing was 59 days from the LOTRO launch. For example, if you had activated your Pre-order key for expiration on 4/29/07 and then activated your retail key on day 29, you would have had 30 days to decide which Founders pricing plan you would like, including the Lifetime Membership*.
*Please note: The Lifetime Membership is available only for so long as this game is in service.
Can I give my Founders program pricing to my buddy?
No. Founders program accounts, like all Turbine accounts are non-transferable.
Any attempt to transfer the account will result in termination of the account.
Founder's Offer Terms & Conditions
Retail purchase of the full version of game is required to redeem Founder’s Offer, which expires 30 days after commercial launch of the game (April 24, 2007) unless Pre-order and Launch Product Keys are activated prior to the expiration date. Founder’s Offer is not transferable. Founder pricing valid for so long as game is in service and account is continuously maintained without termination. Game play and level advancement will be restricted during Open Beta. This Founder’s Offer is available to players located in the U.S. and Canada only.
* Subject to service availability
Internet connection required and online subscription fees apply. Game access subject to network and server availability. System requirements may change. Purchases are non-refundable, subject to applicable laws. Acceptance of the end user license agreement and terms of service is required.
The following terms and conditions apply to The Lord of the Rings Online™: Shadows of Angmar™ Pre-order Program and Founder’s Offer:
1. Only players located in the U.S. and Canada who purchase a Pre-order for the online PC game known as The Lord of the Rings Online™: Shadows of Angmar™ (the “Game”) are eligible for this Pre-order Program and Founder’s Offer (“Founders”).
2. Pre-orders purchased at retail or online contain a pre-release beta version of the Game only. The full version of the Game will be sold separately when the Game is commercially launched in the U.S. and Canada (“Launch”). Purchase of the Launch version of the Game and activation of the associated Launch Product Key is required to redeem the Founder’s Offer. Pre-order Product Keys will expire on, and may no longer be activated after, the thirtieth (30th) day after Launch (the “Expiration Date”). The anticipated Launch date of the Game in the U.S. and Canada is on April 24th, 2007.
3. The Founder’s Offer includes the following:
a. Special pricing options - specifically, either a monthly subscription fee of $9.99 per month or a one-time Lifetime Membership fee of $199.00 (“Founder Pricing Option”). Founders may select only one Founder Pricing Option (i.e. $9.99 monthly subscription fee or $199 Lifetime Membership fee) when registering for a Game user account at Launch. The Lifetime Membership will afford a Founder who purchases the Launch version of the Game with online access to the Game in the U.S. or Canada without charge for so long as the service provider determines, in its sole discretion, to make the Game commercially available. The Founder Pricing Option will not apply if a Founder’s Game service account is terminated for any duration of time due to cancellation, non-payment or otherwise. If a Game account is re-activated after an account termination, the then current online services pricing terms for the Game will apply. This Founder Pricing Option is only available if the Pre-order Product Key and Launch Product Key are activated for an account on or prior to the Expiration Date (i.e. 30 days after Launch).
b. Open Beta privileges - specifically, those Pre-order purchasers who activate their Pre-order Product Keys and establish an Open Beta account by no later than the date specified on www.lotro.com/founder will have guaranteed access to the Open Beta (or other pre-Launch programs thereafter). Gameplay during Open Beta is subject to network and server availability and may be interrupted by the service provider for testing and system and software updates. Also, a Founder who activates his/her Pre-order Product Key prior to Launch will be able to preserve his/her characters and associated levels and inventories as part the Launch account associated with the Pre-order account (“Character Transfer”). Prior to Launch, all characters will be limited in their total advancement (i.e. level-capped). Character Transfer is only available if the Pre-order Product Key is activated prior to Launch (and characters are created) and a Launch Product Key is activated for such Pre-order account on or prior to the Expiration Date (i.e. 30 days after Launch).
c. Unique In-Game Items - specifically, characters created prior to Launch by Founders will receive an Enchanted Cloak of Regeneration and a Ring of Agility (“Open Beta Items”). The Open Beta Items are only available if the Pre-order Product Key is activated prior to Launch (and characters are created) and a Launch Product Key is activated for such Pre-order account on or prior to the Expiration Date (i.e. 30 days after Launch).
4. Purchases are non-refundable, subject to applicable laws. Founder’s Offer and Pre-order Product Keys are non-transferable.
5. Gameplay requires Internet connection. Players are responsible for their own telecommunications charges. Online subscription fees apply. Players’ personal computers must meet certain minimum system requirements to play the Game; however, the recommended system requirements are advised for better performance. The minimum (or recommended) system requirements specified in the Pre-order materials are based on the Beta version of game. The system requirements for the Launch version of the Game may differ from such specifications. System requirements may change from time to time.
6. Acceptance of the applicable end user license agreement and terms of service for access to the Open Beta and the live service at Launch is required.
7. Visit www.lotro.com/article/246 for further information regarding this Pre-order Program and Founder’s Offer or updates to these terms and conditions. By entering your Pre-order Product Key, you hereby agree to the foregoing Terms and Conditions (which may be modified or updated from time to time on www.lotro.com/article/246)

That looks to be the case. I had my hopes up because my account page said my subscription plan was 9.99 (although inactive). When I clicked the "Resume" button, my monthly option was 14.99.
So will upgrading my subscription (instead of creating a new one) with Moria complete edition still give me 30 days VIP status?

Reason: highlighting upgrade

It sure will. After that, if you choose not to sub you'll go back down to Premium (Hint - if you're not going to sub - at least at the beginning - fill up your stable with characters, since any created AFTER downgrading are subject to the Premium restrictions (gold cap, etc)

I am sure there is still the multi-month subscription for $30 for 3 months as well as a 6 month and a year one too.
What happened to the 5 friend keys that a founder had? I used 3 of them and should have 2 left? and don't tell me 30 days because those 3 accounts were a year , 2 years and 3 years after launch!! So where did it go?
You can buy a 12-month gametime card for 99$ in the turbine store. That should be cheaper than the 9.99/month sub.
I can't say for certain if that is the amount with tax or if tax is applied in addition to that.

Founder accounts had no subscription from the beginning.
The founder keys that you got expired a long time ago so unfortunately you can't use them but people can just get a f2p or a vip and we didn't actually get any benefit from the founder friend keys anyway . and they do occasionally do the year long subscriptions . The last bunch of lifetime ( not founder) accounts was after moria I think.
Founder - limited numbered edition shadows of angmar a few extra items and lifetime sub from day 1
Lifetime - rarely offered but lifetime of no subs
All founders and lifers got transferred to the new vip status
DOH - im brain dead - don't bother with forums much and it was a top of list and as so many people get confused between lifers and founders that i thought id pop a note on ( i have 2 founders and 2 lifer accounts )
