Re: Lore-master's, a little common courtesy please!
Although I respect what you’re saying, I don’t see the big deal. I’ve always used either the eagle, or raven, as my primary companion. As a LM I can’t imagine going into any encounter without my trusted companion, and feel much safer in any city knowing he has my back.
Of all the annoying things in LoTRO a flying pet is low on the list. These days there are players dueling in busy areas, like vaults and crafting halls, something Turbine needs to put a stop to. It’s common to see people, and even Kinships, with immersion breaking names that have no place in Tolkien’s realm. To add insult in injury, players are running around slapping strangers, and using emotes that force you to take action against your will, these simply need removed.
No, I don’t see a LM’s companion as an issue …. Unlike elves riding goats in Lothlorien …. Now there is something that is very annoying.!
I bring word from Lord Elrond of Rivendell. An Alliance once existed between Elves and Men. Long ago we fought and died together. We come to honor that allegiance.

Yeah it takes 6 seconds to re-summon when you leave the safety of the town for the wilds of Middle Earth. It's not like you would think to check your status (buffs, gear, pet) before you go to engage mobs or likely are to encounter them. I guess that's just me...
I'm sorry but LM class = pet. Not having a pet is like playing half a toon, my pet is my companion and friend, right. I would never dimiss my pet as a "common courtesy" because I don't believe it as such.
Re: Lore-master's, a little common courtesy please!
+rep Pica. Im astounded by how many people manage to get right on top of npcs. Then I have to go through the tiring process of using my select closest npc hotkey instead of clicking him. Also, bringing an eagle to DN is a lot if fun... some hunters should show more respect to wildlife.
Re: Lore-master's, a little common courtesy please!
LOL Stupid Bird!! I am forever chasing my G/fs Raven thinking its a node, always have to remind her to take it off of agg when we farm.... tried the arrow through the heart and eating it since I too figured it'd be a tasty treat, but its a bit stringy and a little dry for my taste, Eagle is a much better tasting bird.
Re: Lore-master's, a little common courtesy please!
I tend to run with a linx for the sheer ease of knowing it wont aggro everything but if I felt the need to keep a raven out I'd rather not have to un-summon, do some quick sales, Re-sommon then put the boosts back on the pet every time I walk threw a town to fix equipment or sell some vendor trash. And then risk running out into the wild without a pet. A lore master without a pet is like a hunter with no bow.
I know the pet can be annoying but as long as the lore master walks strait to the npc the pet will remain behind them and probably out of peoples way. Its only when the lore overshoots then turns is the pet usually a problem. (or if the lore besides to purposely park their pets. In which case this thread wouldn't stop them)
It just seems like a lot of steps for a lore to do EVERY time they may cause a POSSIBLE Issue that can be fixed with a small camera angle shift.
As long as the lore masters pet isn't directly on or mostly overlapping the npc it shouldn't be to much of a problem.
Re: Lore-master's, a little common courtesy please!
Pets are not useful in towns if some find them annoying why not dismiss them? I am not bothered by visual so much but raven cawing is loud and annoying.
Re: Lore-master's, a little common courtesy please!
Nope not happening. Won't even remember to do it.. even if I wanted to. I don't camp ah anyways and if im near limlight or some ####.. you can forget it.

The thing is actually bigger than the Hobbit pony.
This is why I like my tundra bear cub. It's fairly inoffensive size wise and has additional cute value.
Of course if you *want* something to be in the way, the outrageously sized polar bear is... Well, I've seen it sit on a hobbit and the poor thing vanished and I don't want even to think about where the hobbit ended up.

Re: Lore-master's, a little common courtesy please!
Maybe the bird of the lm is annoying, but it is part of our gameplay and our role, so I can understand, if people keep them around.
I use the lynx, when not raiding, so no trouble there.
But before going on about the lm pet people shoud stop standing in the npc or going afk after using their vault. I use the storm in a glass (I dont know the english name) to get free sight. You woud be surprised, how many people are still laying on the groud after 5 min.
Re: Lore-master's, a little common courtesy please!
This is how I keep from annoying people easily. I agree the birds do kind of make it difficult to click on things sometimes. Sometimes they even get in the way when I'm looting a mob. So I generally dismiss them in town.
/alias ;Dismiss /pet releaseall
/alias shortcut ;Dismiss 8
8 will now dismiss any pet you have out, replace 8 with whatever slot you want it in.
Re: Lore-master's, a little common courtesy please!
I never bring my pets into the AH or any other non combat place, it's useless and they even get in my way..leave your pets at home, they are easy enough to recall. If you've gotta show them off to a friend take them someplace out of the way..Perhaps some no pets allowed signs posted would do the trick.
Re: Lore-master's, a little common courtesy please!
Honestly releasing your pet and bringing it back out once isn't a problem but some people do multiple short trips often or at least visit towns once or twice a day. THAT'S when its a hassle. It be like asking someone to unequipped their armor and put it back on each time they leave town or a hunter to unequipped their bow. As long as the pets not camping ON or right next to the NPC or they don't afk and camp for 10 minutes I really do not see the problem.
