Tip for newbie Scholars in Lonelands

    Hey,

Just thought i'd share this for other scholars struggling to find materials- I was trudging through the mats required to max out expert before i hit 30, and i stumbled into Iorvinas in the Lonelands, it spawns 5-6 containers every couple of minutes that are loaded with mats, got enough Faded Sindarin to max out in about an hour plus knocked off orc deed to boot.

This is probably old news to some of you, but for a newbie scholar it was a gold mine, even better than the little nest i found in Breelands to max Journeyman.

I'm saving this, but where is the nice section in Breeland?

For the toon that is my historian, I did the shire first so I think I only saw one node there, so what I did, I was just an explorer until I was done with that area. Now I'm in bree and have changed back to historian.

I know there are quite a few ruins I have to go visit, but any tips would be nice.

The Brigand ruins East of Combe is best from experience; iirc, there's at least 3 spawn points there - more if you widen your search further. And if you happen to be a hunter or warden who can ignore aggro (i.e. high enough level), you can run from the ruins to the spider ruins in the swamp - there's another 3 or 4 there, again depending on how wide your search is.

IIRC, the Vale of Anduin (sp) also has about 3 - 4 spawn points but they're too spread up, IMO, and one of them needs to you to get to a hard to reach place.

Honestly, having GMed scholar 2x already, the best advice I'd give is to Wait - at least until you've over leveled the mobs by 10 before you work on a tier. I did my 2nd GM when I was L50 (pre-MoM) and it was So Much Easier not having to fight mobs waiting for a spawn. Unlike Prospecting or Tailoring (worse, since you literally have to fight for each hide), you don't need so many mats per tier that doing it this would feel boring (due to lack of actual "progress" until you have enough to go from 0 - master per tier).

Cool Re: Tip for newbie Scholars in Lonelands

The ruins east of Combe are great as a higher level Warden. I can stroll through and no one attacks me, I can grab the mats as they spawn, and work the elites that spawn for possible rare pipeweed seed drops. Just keep a lookout for high level Elite Wergs that prowl that area. I got ganked by two when I wasn't looking. But a great spot to farm for novice scholar mats. Just leave something for the regular folks trying to level there

Yeah i did that run, those ruins were a goldmine, and once the mobs were gray even easier.

For Artisan, I am having a great run around the ruins in Evendim, so many locations, and only a couple tomb robber, and i need 300 more of them anyway!

I have also knuckled under and maxed farming, and managed to score a couple dozen points from paints and dyes.

The theme is "ruins". That's the only place you'll find scholar mats outdoors. The area NW of Adso has a few, the ruins near the lumber camp, the spider area in the Marshes, the bear area outside Staddle, the ruins between Bree-town and Bree Homesteads.

Thanks for the tips. I managed to get up to proficient and will just hang there. If I'm correct, I believe I need to be journyman to be able to collect nodes in the the 15-20 area so that's where I'm at.

I'll probably go back to hit master after I get my horse.

Don't forget, scholar mats drop fairly often from goblins. Work on a goblin slayer deed at the appropriate level, you can pick up quite a few.
