Yes, it pleases me greatly to receive the "You're insane" response from another hunter haha...
You're just like me! I won 1.5g yesterday from a friend because I told him I could solo that troll in Trollshaws without my spear and sword and he said I couldn't. Leave the melee for the Champs, we don't need it, we're Huntar*s!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!! HUNTAR*S FTW!!!!!!!!!
Re: Things a Hunter would like you to know...because we've got a little free time, s'
This is so funny cuz its true. I literally spent ten minutes in the GB 112112ing it while everyone was like stop we need to organize to defeat the barrow lights.

Well I could just have my burglar suddenly appear in the area where you are and play a little with your mobs.
I'll show up near a mob, attack it and vanish again, only to appear again near another mob and do the same thing again.
And hopefully in the process try and confuse you a little. :P

And I'll tag everything with rain of arrows. My mobs.

Back when I was a li'l hunter, I spied a quest mob I needed around Bree. So being the very cool hunter I am, I popped an arrow into it from max range. Needless to say the little hoppit burg that was stealthing up to it was a bit upset.
I lol'd and went on to kill more things from range.
I am writing a book about the most productive citizens of Middle Earth. It's called "Seven Hobbits are Highly Effective People."

Man... that explains something that happened to me. I was killing stuff (from range, awesome dude) and this mob pops out of nowhere and starts to sass me. "What do you think you're doing, you noob ks!" it says. So I target it, but NONE of my attacks work.
I figure it's bugged, so I submitted a ticket. Something along the lines of...
"Dear Turbine,
This mob has lore breaking dialogue and ruins my immurder. Please remove. Oh, also, it's way overpowered. I was like super stunned or nothing was working, like my spells and stuff (bow spells, HUNTER here). Please remove 'Burglor' from the game. Way OP. Don't make me post in the forums. You have one hour. Thanks."
Huh. It's a PLAYER class. I'm a little embarassed. I even got a full fellowship to try and take it down.
"We have to kill everything in this special area to get him to spawn. THERE HE IS! On my target!"

No wonder they quit and reported me.
I'm confused... I was in Rivendell doing Book 4, and this imposter walked up to me and started talking to me. Guess what his name was, Arragornn, Son of Arrathornn!!! AND HE THOUGHT ID BUY IT THAT HES ARAGORN, WHEN I WAS TURNING IN A QUEST TO ARAGORN. The shame...

Oh, THOSE kind of pots. Ok, cook away, little hobbits!
Did you know there's a hunter melee attack that -heals- a baddy's bleed from the hunter's very own barbed arrow...? That's jacked up.
I don't need shortcuts for battlecries & taunts on any of my hunters, either...but my champs & guards do...!

I meant like chat stuffs. Like "OFF MY MOBS, DUDE", "WHO TOOK MY LOOT", and "vIRGINIA, THE SPAGHETTI'S READY". Stuff like that.

This might be a good time to point out that they're changing a bunch of hunter stuff. If you play a hunter, this largely will not affect you.
If you group with a hunter, please be patient, as they changed our junk and we probably won't notice for weeks.
If you're thinking of playing a hunter and never have, don't bother checking out the changes. All you need is 1,1,2...1,1,2
Re: Things a Hunter would like you to know...because we've got a little free time, s'
Hmmm - surround sound of 2 PCs with 5.1 speaker systems each (10.2 speakers!) Install LOTRO on each computer and login with 2 different accounts with Hunters on each account...that'd be some epic surround sound!
Make sure to pop Focus every once in a while so you can get a Penetrating Shot off first!

I make surround sound by getting my group surrounded by mobs! That's a FIGHT!

Oh, gosh, this thread is so darn funny! I'm fairly new to LOTRO but I've always played archers all the way back to paper & dice D&D in the 80's and so much of this is true. It's also why I so often solo - my most recent online experience was evercrack a couple of years ago but I could never find a group who understood how to use an archer/hunter without getting him killed. Only time I grouped there was to get into instances that required a raid and that had something I needed to advance. I never could find a group that understood the simple concept of "let the ranged guy pull MOBs in one or two at a time so we can clobber them without getting anybody hurt."
Instead, they'd end up running pell-mell through a bunch of MOBS drawing agro to us but without killing them - leaving me to bring up the rear and get pounded in my ever-so-protective leather armor.
I remember one raid in particular where I don't think I took a single shot, but ended up flat on my face waiting for someone to bring a feather to revive me 7 times! We could have taken fifteen minutes longer IRL and wiped the place clean without a single casualty. Pretty much soured me on evercrack as I'd reached the low fifties where I couldn't advance any further without grouping a lot.

What the heck is the point of playing an archer if you're going to aggro whole groups of MOBs? Might as well be a tank and walk up to 'em if yer' gonna be that stoopid!

No no no! Rain of THORNS! Then they are stapled to the ground and can just look at you mean while you 112112 them to death. Plus that way you tagged them all so they are all your xp of course.

With a bit of crit luck I can chain 5-12 RoT attacks on a group without pause. In my recent experience it is me bailing out the rest of the PuG with that sort of sustained firepower. And any hunter worth their salt can handle any survivors in melee.

And in solo it is even easier.
Difference in philosophy, I guess. I like to pull them one at a time and have them drop dead just as they reach melee range so I don't have to walk far to loot.
If I need more than two melee licks to finish them off I consider it a fail. I also consider it a minor failure in tactics if I have to walk half a bow-range out of my way to loot. Just wierd that way, I 'spose.
I have noticed that hunters are way more powerful and survivable solo in LOTRO than are the various archer/assasin types I've played in other games.
Leveling is also crazy fast. I've been leveling faster than I want to and I haven't even done any major quests or anything (well, I did do that insanely long "getting ready for the festival" quest in the shire but that wasn't even challenging and shouldn't have been a level 30 quest other than for the decent reward). I've been trying to develop my character in balance, keep my crafting level such that I can craft my own bows for hunting - but I keep leveling just from killing critters for hides or to push them off a woodpile.

I seem to have missed this when it was first posted. Glad it got revived! Hex, you have a wonderful sense of irony and humor. I thoroughly enjoyed that and now I have to go and read the other one since it is apparently the same kind of humor.

A minstrels response:
Why would I turn off my music when it is allowing you pew pew mobs? Freak out! How dare you ask use why we freak out when you should already know that it is you that causes us minstrels to freak out. You over dps and pull mobs off the tank forcing the minstrel to heal you while the tank takes damage, cause even though you are self centered we need you to burn down the mobs. And sometimes those mobs you pull of the tank do aoe damage and that damage sometimes hits me and i have to stop and heal myself while everyone else takes damage. You die all the time solo!? Then you must be a terrible hunter. A good hunter can kill a mob be for the mob reaches them.

Someone forgot to take their humor pill this morning. My entire post pokes fun at us silly hunters. No need to go all offended minstrel, Bro. I got hunter earmuffs on and can't see my screen because my bag of Doritos takes priority.

Now you see I stay quiet as a mouse in raids. Mainly so no one notices I gots the war banner up. I like to start the instance with the moors banner down, then swtich to the war banner when no one is looking. I also make it my personal mission to rip stuff off the tank, but thats just me.

What the OldePhart said, same here. Gave up on EQ when I hit 40 for the first time, rejoiced, died - and lost experience to put me back to 39. Sucked. Permanently logged out.
Funniest thread ever, laughed until I fell out of my chair. Thank heavens I could still reach 112112 because I couldn't quite reach the ESC key to log. Thanks for the laughs!
