Ok, i understand everything concerning the move to f2p. But there's still a burning question in my mind, are you going to continue to update the game even after v3b2's release?
and will the update schedule be sped up or slowed down with the change to f2p?
Yes, they will continue updating the game-- we even have information about post-3.2 updates. See the original post under "Expansion Questions" for more info/details.
At the very least, is the awarding of Turbine Points for prior actions even being considered? (I am aware of the Points that current subscribers will receive for type and length of subscription, I'm just asking about points earned in-game).
Thank you in advance.
I can't remember where I saw it, but it's been officially confirmed that all characters will retroactively receive points for all accomplishments that are now point-worthy.

Wish I'd had access to this information when I first heard the news. Would have been good for my heart. =D
+rep to you!
Thanks so much; I really appreciate it! Glad it helped you.

Account Questions, Number 17 hits it, I think. Hopefully it answers the question closely enough.

That doesn't answer my question, but thank you. I'm wondering about retroactive points for the in-game accomplishments - which I realize they have yet to determine exactly which in-game accomplishments will be point-worthy, but I still wonder if such accomplishments will receive retroactive credit for points.
The link to Sapience's post just confirms that we will receive points for: having a current sub; a lifetime sub; being a founder; each anniversary that we've been subbed for, and; each month we play between now and the F2P launch.
For that matter, although it is informative, it may not exactly answer question 17, which could be interpreted to be asking what I am asking rather than what the linked post makes it seem like it's asking.
That being said, thank you for compiling all that information, and I did read the entire thing before posting my question.

Can we expect prices for in-store items like Character Slots and Quest Packages to be similar to DDO's prices? Will we get some sort of chart on that any time soon?
I cancelled my account (it expires June 13th) because I didn't have enough time to play anymore. With free-to-play impending, I might be interested in returning as a premium member in the future, but I'm confused about what it will mean for my account.
1) Since I have a SoA + Moria + Mirkwood account, am I correct in thinking that I'll still be able to access all that content? Will my level cap still be 65? Will I be able to make new warden or runekeeper characters without paying again?
2) Premium accounts are restricted in some areas that subscriptions currently aren't. Will I have to pay to unlock character slots, or traits, or bags, or the gold cap? Will I have to purchase something every 30 days to have access to customer support?
3) If I read the chart correctly, there is no way I'll be able to obtain rested XP or participate in monster play unless I re-subscribe for a VIP account. Is that accurate?
I'm not completely phobic of free-to-play, but the current deal sounds like I'd have to subscribe anyway to get all the features I care about (and then possibly pay more for whatever's going to be in the cash shop, depending on how it's balanced), so I'm skeptical of whether this would work out for me.
About Monster Play, Right now due to money reasons, (Lack there of) I have had to cancel my sub for now. However if I dont return until the game goes f2p, will I be able to play pvmp? Since its a feature that I had paid for in the past. I noticed it said only vip's can play in pvmp so kinda wondering how that will work.
I think you should edit this to say "PRIMARY Sources" and have an addendum that says "Read these before you get some screwed up idea in your head, but if you are too lazy to do that, keep reading..."

No idea if prices will be similar. I don't have a source on me, but the Beta-- which is covered under an NDA, so no revealing-- will have all of that information.

1. You will have access to everything you paid for, including but not limited to Level 65, Runekeepers, etcetera. At least, that is my understanding. 70% certain, shall we say?
2. You'll have to purchase Customer Support access from what I understand, as well as much of the other content. Check the table/diagram, listed in the first post of this topic-- it should have that info.
3. Correct on both accounts.

Ah, my apologies; it is a bit unclear. I find it unlikely that they would penalize players by not retroactively rewarding them, but you are correct-- it hasn't explicitly been stated, far as I have seen, one way or another.

You will only be able to PvMP while you have an actively subscribed (paid) account).

Ever in your debt for setting up and wrangling this thread,

You are very welcome. If by guilds you mean crafting guilds (not kins), check the VIP Chart linked in the first post. VIPs get all access; apparently, you must buy access to each guild (it's tied to your account, not your toon) for every individual guild, otherwise.

Well put; I will have something to that effect. ;-)
eep! I meant kinships. Sheesh, been here 3+ years and make the same mistake over and over.
Hehe, no worries. Actually, things have been oddly quiet about kinships; I have no idea. Do trial accounts have access to kinships? If so, I bet that free to play players will have access. Just speculation, thuogh.

It isn't feasible for us to retroactively grant points, unfortunately, though it was definitely considered.
+++rep to Eluros, Sapience and all that are providing info. Read the FAQ and the sticky they answer most of the questions I've seen in this thread.
Q: With the sudden influx of F2P players, what is being done to keep the lag out of the game? There has been noticeable lag since Mirkwood was released and not just in the major cities.
Q: Will addtional storage is only available in the form of an expanded Shared Storage (20 slots with Adv Pack then increments of 10 through purchase) or will there be an option for another chest for my house or kinhouse? Or even another personal bag?
Q: The major update to be released in the fall (vol3 bk2), will this be a paid update through the new store or will this be free content for current subscribers? Will this (MAJOR) update include raising the level cap?

Somebody pay Eluros! Send like free Turbine points or something. Working the thread hard! We're all greatful!
(Seriously, on a day like this, Eluros deserves a reward for calming the tempest!)

That's some seriously sad news... does this mean I should wait to continue deeding/questing until the new content is released, in case those actions would otherwise give points?

Thanks for the rep and the "thanks"; glad it's been helpful.
1. They are adding new servers to combat the lag. See the original post.
2. Kinhouse/bag space/personal house storage increases are unrevealed, if they exist, at this time (as far as I know).
3. I would be willing to bet that it will not involve a level cap, it will not be paid, but there will be paid content/quests that accompany it. That being said, pure speculation, not official.

Haha, thanks. I really do appreciate the kind words. Honestly, if someone hadn't stepped up, the forum would have erupted into mass chaos. It's really important to consolidate this information, in a verifiable form. I'm just glad that I was able to help out.
Will $9.99 = 500 tps after the f2p model goes live or will $9.99 allow you to buy a greater amount of tps?
If the latter, then I'm going to feel used by keeping my founder's subscription going until f2p goes live.
We don't know, but at this point, I would definitely advise that you keep your founder's subscription active, at least a little while longer. Good to hedge your bets. Besides, if you make it into the beta, you will know (although you can't share with anyone else) what the ratios are at least expected to look like.
Forgive me if this has been answered, but I didn't see this exact question in the first post. It's more of a clarification on an existing (answered) question!
I have two lifetime subscriptions bound to a single account. From what I understand, this means each of my subscriptions will be granted the 500 points per month.
Will this mean 1000 points given to my account, or simply 500 per subscription? IE - could I feasibly use points gained on Subscription A to buy things for Subscription B?
In addition, will I have to log in both subscriptions to get those 500 pre-launch points, or just log in my account?

Well bugger... then I must have been smoking something when I thought I saw that. Teach me to read the forums, work on a research proposal, and put on makeup at the same time.
Too bad there's not much left for my main to do. Not that I needed an incentive to roll an 18th alt, but with four more character slots on the way, guess I'll check out the full workings of the world-earned point system when 3.2 hits!

See Account Questions, Number 16. It is by subscription, not account. You will need to log into both subscriptions.

If you're bored, you can always help monitor the forums for more info to be added to this topic.
IMO it'll be bumpy at first, it'll be rather laggy, there will be a lot of annoying 5 year-olds begging for money and "l3wt", but they'll get bored with the limited access and when the dust clears, lotro will be better off than before. I don't trust Warner Brothers, but I do trust Turbine. Just so long as we actually get to Mordor one of these years... >.>
Can a GM give an estimation for what the point value is worth?
For example, is a cosmetic robe 100 points? 50 points? or 5000 points? No exacts needed, just pure estimation.
Because as VIP/Lifers may get 500 points a month but I would like to know that 500 is actually something worth it, and not a kids allowance of $2 a month.
Also, I read that you may be able to purchase expansions with points (this is a good idea). However, lets say it costs X points, and i have X - Y, so not enough. Can I spend my remaining points to reduce the price of an expansion; meaning i have 65% of the points needed so the price tag is reduced 65% and I pay cash the rest. Or is it all or nothing type of deal?
Leader of R.A.I.D. (Rememberme's Awesome Instructional Directions).
Maybe they should merge servers instead of making new ones, to increase the number on the servers so fellowships are easier to find. Just a thought.

Note to players who want to be considered literate: You're = You are. Your = Belonging to you. It's = It is. Its = belonging to it. They're = They are. Their = Belonging to them. There = At that place. Items = More than one item. Item's = Belonging to the item. (True for almost all nouns.)
Also, the 5 types of things players should expect to be able to purchase from the LOTRO Store with Turbine Points:
Content (quests in a particular new zone, larger expansions, skirmishes, etc.)
Convenience items (perhaps travel options, more bulk crafting recipes, access to additional crafting guilds)
Consumables (special potions, tokens, probably things similar to destiny point perks)
Cosmetic items (exclusive items like the ones we currently have)
Concierge services (shared storage, inventory and mail upgrades, wardrobe storage, extended trait management at bards, extra character slots)
This is speculative, but extrapolated from an interview at GDC10 with Fernando Paiz (the Executive Producer who brought F2P to DDO, and husband of Kate Paiz, the new Executive Producer who is bringing F2P to LOTRO).
I haven't seen it mentioned in here, but we'll also be adding new servers at launch!
Will servers be getting an upgrade or just more servers added?
