While I had played LOTRO right through since early beta's I had never really tried Creepside as I was happy pottering through PvE and Freepside PvP. I tired of some elements of LOTRO and took a 6 month break to play Aion. Apologies for the wall of text.
I returned to Lotro Mpvp 4 weeks ago friday, I intend to only play creepside, but will play a few skirmishes and chat to old friends.
I started playing a named but rank zero Creep. Off I headed to get my Gramms map and kill something. My story and observations so far;
I chose Black arrow for no other reason than I had one with a name and headed in. Loaded up vent , "listen only as I am 50 and tend to be a tad excitable now and then..." and started doing quests, this is graphically a very fine game and the ettenmoors is not a badly drawn region.
The old hands were online each night, leading raids, shouting their advice, commands and opinions in vent and doing their thing, the moors were alive and bopping along..... wooo had to buy a headset as vent is a little lively for free to air play hehehe
A few passing creeps sent me tells , I received some advice to buy my passives and some hints about vent registration. ( I had exactly 1500 points to spend heheh so passives had to wait). I received a random gift of stone to hand in. I did not know who the creep Jagd? (sp) was but thanks for the gesture! It helped a greenie a lot!
I listen in full time to vent, pay due attention to all the advice on how to play each class, hopefully I am learning and am usually busy getting my maps, I try to help groups where I can but am not focussing on infamy yet.
If I get caught out alone in the open by a burg, or likely any competent freep, I usually end up dead but that is part of the learning process, Creep plays differently to Freep, esp as a greenie.
I am enjoying the game again and even though it seems I chose the class most criticised by other creeps, I have pottered along to rank 5, have 2 good maps and have identified a lot of fine people who play creepside.
I think I will continue with this character class for awhile, thanks to all who have helped me, played alongside me or blown me up!
Good to hear about your positive experience in monster play as a black arrow. Having everyone on specific vent is pretty awesome. I will pop by on my epic defiler once in a while toss ya a heal or two. Good luck mate, hope you make it to R8 for that firetrap and give us freepies hard time.
Nice to see another BA that enjoys PvMP. I've pretty much followed the same path as you in regards to my play on my BA.
Still learning how creepside works but also madly leveling my only high level freep so I can experience freep side.
I just hope freep play will have the same amount of support given like creep side. Many players have helped me along in the past few weeks. Cule (spider) the most.
Anyway, thanks for your positive post. I'll likely see you in game some time.
Oh the monster manual and the Elendilmir map with reference points (trying to remember them still) has also helped immensely.
*hugs* Nice seeing you around Krelk, even if you do steal my wood.

Ok, I'll agree that there are lot of great and nice people on both sides who would help out when asked. But there is a big difference from the help you get on creep side compared to freep side. Most new creeps are new to playing this game and all creeps assume that so they help them out with maps, advice and gifts. That was the best part of the creep community when I played. An educated greenie will be better in a raid.
On freep side there is this assumption that if you got your character to 65 you should know what to do so there is less help. Also people assume your kinship will help you out with gear, advice and grouping. I've been lucky to get help from some vet creeps who are now playing freep side. I also get help from some freeps I played against who have respect for me. With that said I do find some great people on freep side who will help out in a fight even if they might die. The healers are awesome and try their best in a hard situation. The community on each side is very different but it works and makes things fun.
