I can't believe this slipped under my radar. I love the part where Sauron stops what he is doing and just looks at Tom in disbelief. That was hilarious!
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"

Same here! A fantastically funny moment... in a fantastically funny video. Well done!
I've never played BfME, but I was impressed with (A) how good the game looks & how many models it can have running around at the same time, (B) the degree of control it must allow for you to have choreographed all that, (C) how much work that must have taken nonetheless, and (D) how good the resulting video looks!
I had to come and look at this again. Sauron is like "Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?"

On a side note, I always thought Brian Blessed would have made a great Tom Bombadil. That voice and laugh, I believe Tom would have worked on film kicking Barrow-wight butt. The only real upset I had with the films.
Haha, Sauron knocking over the tree was epic. Well done!
Would have been nice to see an intro/lead-up with Sauron walking around to I Can't Dance by Genesis, then switch to We Can Dance if We Want To when Tom show up. Just an idea if you ever make another. + Rep regardless.

I had to watch this a second time. I still think the part where Sauron stops and cannot believe what he is seeing is hilarious!

What was that and how come people are still commenting on a thread that started in April?
Yes I did just watch it for the first time and really don't know what to think.
There is a mistaken belief that there wasn't a Woman in the Fellowship. It is just that when she got to Rivendell. "You want to climb over the Misty Mountains - You want to go down through Moria - Are you all mad." So she moved in with the Elves instead.
Somebody needs to give Sauron some dance lessons. I would be willing to (a simple matter of posing as Morgoth would work perfectly to avoid getting killed by Sauron). Bombadil would work too, but he has too much "The heck?" factor.

Since many here are Tolkien fans (of course!) I thought you might all enjoy it [...]
Speaking as a Tolkien/LotR fan (to the point of being a tiresome nerd on the topic!), I haven't enjoyed anything so much in ages.
What can I say? OK, the game portrayed isn't LotRO, but this is simply *THE* funniest, most original and most entertaining LotR- (if not LotRO-) related video I've ever seen. No doubt the Monty Python team would have kicked themselves if they'd seen this, back in the day, for not having done it themselves: after all, it's easily on a par with the "Spanish Inquisition" sketch, if you ask me - and contains a similar kind of "clever and witty" humour (and amusing, irreverent parody) too: not something which is easy to pull off.
It's at times like these when I wish I could give more than one +Rep per post. Contratulations on an excellent piece of work: as others have said, Sauron's "What on (Middle) *Earth*... ???" attitude, as Bombadil merrily approaches, dancing Orcs in tow, and begins to skip around him - and his obviously unwilling, yet nonetheless eventually irresistible, urge to join the dance, really are priceless.

Can't imagine it being answered any better in terms of humour - and, on a "literal" level, too, if one *were* to get all Tolkienesque and Lore-obsessive about it, the chances are pretty high that the enigmatic, apparently all-powerful yet also strangely "otherworldly" Bombadil actually *would* be the "winner" in any kind of show-down with Sauron - but, just as shown in this video, he'd find a cheery and merry way to conquer Sauron's evil, rather than resorting to anything as far beneath him as violence.
Oh, and... perfect choice of music. Really sets the video off and adds the ideal finishing touch - not to mention providing a burst of nostalgia for sad old gits like me who remember "We Can Dance" (? actual title... I forget!) when it was first released...!
I hope that others will enjoy this gem as much as I did.

Reason: Added note that "We Can Dance" is not (? I think) the actual song title.
Thank you very much for your kind words. I'm very glad you enjoyed it and the video still stands as one of the most enjoyable LotRs items I've done. It just was not possible to pass up mixing Sauron vs. Tom Bombadil with Men Without Hat's "Safety Dance" & it's music video. It all stemmed from an IM conversation I once had with a friend
I know it's not LOTRO, and I just only hope for poeple to enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it from concept, to rigging, to scripting, etc.
Well... I may (no: make that definitely!) have a reputation for tending towards rather "curmudgeonly" posts on this Forum, but if it had more contributions like your video, I'd have more to be cheery about...!
Having said that, the sheer work involved in making the video (I'm no programmer, but I can spot a lot of hard work when I see it), together with your evident talent for genuine (and Lore-wise!) humour, are precisely the rarities which make excellent pieces like yours so uncommon - and so well worth commenting upon. All I did was speak the truth, but still, I'm happy my message reached you.

I re-watch it most days - it's a guaranteed pick-me-up for those off-days, and a bonus on the great days!

Ah, but... there are ways and ways of doing what you did. The meticulous attention to detail (and the evident knowledge of Tolkien Lore backing it up, without which it would have been far less funny: in order to parody something, one must know a lot about it!) is amazing. I *love* the part where the dramatic operatic music cuts to "Safety Dance" (thanks for reminding me of the song's proper title!) and the scene cuts briefly to Sauron - forgetting entirely to mow down the opposition and just standing there, looking dumbstruck and obviously wondering where the music's coming from! And the video is just full of perfectly timed to-and-fro cuts of a similar nature: as I say, the hard work and talent that went into it are apparent, and make it as truly excellent as it is.
I've seen plenty of parodies of Sauron doing silly stuff, but nothing to even remotely compare to your work.

I defy anyone, whether Lore nerd (like me) or someone who doesn't even know who Bombadil is, to fail to find this amusing!
All credit to you: this video is a classic. From original concept to technique and execution, it's in a league of its own.
