Blind kin invites....
What's up with that?
So I'm sitting at the AH on a lowbie, searching for Fortunes, when I noticed what I typed didn't enter into the box. I think oh well, must have been lag or some thing. The next thing I know, I've been promoted to an office of a kin I never heard of.
What?!? Did some one really just send a blind invite while I was distracted? Yep, looks like it.
I mean really... Is this what goes on now? The only other MMOs I've played was Disney's Pirates and demoed Warhammer and that went on there all the time. But this is twice within two weeks I've gotten blind kin invites.
How getto is that?
SRSLY! What kind of kin do you think you would wind up wiith like that?

Happened about 5 times in 10 levels on my warden recently, went anon till I got into VD again
I was on my lowbie warden one evening last week, I believe...she's already in GotV, and I got a tell inviting me to another kin. From someone I've never heard of, several towns away.
Dang Disney pirates? Can I play to? Well be super pro together , eye patches + wooden legs + parrots = win

My older brother got into that one. Mind you he's 5 years older knows little about computers and is the typical looking Rocker/Biker. All I could do was raise one eyebrow at him and ask him with all seriousness was that some good crack he smoked.
On Brandywine, you can almost guarantee a blind kin invite if you simply go into Bree while not in a kin. One of THE biggest reasons focus shouldn't change when a window pops up. I used to think it was just one or two kins that were bad with this until my 65 mini was kin-less for a bit. a couple dozen blind invites from as many different kins and I decided I wasn't quite ready to come off of anonymous
I don't mind the tells as much since they at least are speaking to you and I ASSUME they want to find out about you before actually clicking the invite button, but blind invites.... They make other MMO's and non-games for that

never had this issue....probably because i have the game set to not allow it.

Options -> Social panel -> Uncheck 'Kinship requests'
Just count yourself lucky you weren't here during the anniversary last year, when Turbine held a Kinship competition. Size, mass number of levels gained, that kind of thing. One of the awards went to the largest kinship, or the one that recruited the most people (can't remember).
A kin that will remain nameless (Wolfpack*) simply went from area to area and went down who panel, blind-inviting every single person there. I lost undying titles on two of my nubs at the time because of them, and died a few more times besides that when one hit me in the middle of a fight. And it didn't stop at once, my toons would get invited over and over and over, all of them despite repeatedly asking them to stop.
*I have heard Wolfpack is under new management since that fiasco, and are now a much better Kin than they were back then.
I've gotten a few blind invites on my alts lately. Both kin and fellowship requests, but what makes me laugh is that the fellow's are on the other side of the map...hmmm, I hope this doesn't turn into gold begging D:
I mean I think its just rude to not even ask the person, and keep spamming the invite but then again it's probably like 7 year olds who are doing it.
@Toranoga "I have a feeling this issue will increase with the FtP." Couldn't agree with you more, sadly.

A few of my lowbies have gotten blind kin invites. On one of them, I accepted it. Plan to see how much I can take without giving and how long I can infiltrate before I am found out...
I've never had a blind invite in this game, but I do get frequent Tells asking me to join a kin. The other day, within seconds of each other, my wife and I both got Tells while we were in a cave filled with Trolls in the North Downs. I didn't appreciate that and replied that I don't join spammer kins (or something along that line). He went on to say he wasn't spamming because it was only one message, but as far as I'm concerned, sending out mass invites at once which he had to be doing to get both of us within about 1 second of each other is spam.
People might not think it matters if you ask everyone you see to join a kin, but it's really annoying to get spammed with those requests all of the time. I don't mind them in the channels (regional, ooc, etc), but I just don't like seeing them in Tells... at least not without first talking to me. The same goes for people trying to get you to join a fellowship by just inviting you to it without ever talking to you. I refuse to join any kin or fellowship that acts like that because it's a good indication of what they are like and that's not what I want to be involved in.
In WoW, I remember people used to create a guild just for themselves not for the bank space, but to avoid all of the guild request spammers. I certainly hope it doesn't get that bad here.

I guess maybe because this is still my first mmo I may not be familiar with proper norms and such, but this along with the random fellowship invites kinda bugs me a bit. I'm normally more that happy to jump into a fellowship if I'm not already in one - but I guess I see it as rude if you don't at least send me a tell asking and describing what quest you want to work on.
Same for kin invites. While I don't see this much because I usually get my alts into DBS right away there have been a few times where I've gotten the random invite as well... just seems a bit off to me.

That's what a friend of mine and I did. It was bad in Goldshire. I'm trying to sell off my trash and I was constantly fighting guild invites with each one closing my trade window.
