Re: What are you naming your hobbit?
This is one 'elluva necro'd thread. Looks like it's been around since launch.
Anyway, the only hobbit I had, I named Brandygrin Took.
Looks like the signatures are broken ... All of my craft skills are maxed.

Wow! Didn't realize this thread was still around. I'm not sure what my first post was (and I'm too lazy atm to go back through and look it up) so here are my Hobbits so far (spread across 4 servers and members of my current menagerie of 37 characters)...
- Lomellic - Male Fallohide Minstrel Yeoman
- Bilgar - Male Stoor Guardian Tinker
- Niteshade - Female Harfoot Burglar Explorer (The name generator would not allow 'Night' to be used at all)
- Cirric - Male Fallohide Hunter Explorer
- Shifto - Male Harfoot Burglar Tinker
- Thorsid - Male Fallohide Warden Woodsman
- Tipto - Male Harfoot Burglar Tinker
- Thulic - Male Stoor Guardian Explorer

I named my (male) hobbit Wegden, when I hit lvl 15, I will give him the surname of Thumbfrill. The name just kind of came to me as I was waking up the other day. (It was going to be Thumpfrill, but the "p" is too unstable of a sound in that context.) He comes from a long line of tailors, so I saw, well, "thumb" and "frill" both work for that profession.

Heh. This one's certainly a curious thread to read...
As for myself, I have two hobbits, so far, on the EU RP Server Laurelin.
My main is Silma, a Harfoot Huntress, surname still pending. She's favouring Vagranter, 'cause she thinks it sounds funny.
The story behind her first name is that well, stories travel. Her parents had heard these fairytales about these fancy jewels, but they shortened it for practicality's sake (so much easier to shout two syllable names).
As an additional funny bit, 'silmä' means 'eye' in Finnish. A good thing for a hunter to have!
The other is this... he is a good fellow, seriously. It's just that Flamwulf (everyone calls him Flam, though) really, really would prefer to sit beside his well-laden table than go out and see about wolves or heavens, goblins...
(He was going to be Flambrand, and the name generator allowed it, but then I ran across the Hunter Trainer in Bree, bearing the name Flambard...oops...)Jestem tym, czym jestem.

Lol I love all the names people make!
I only have one hobbit on the Windfola server, named her Maylily Leafwalker and I'm proud of her... she's just so cute! I wanted something like a flower-name, and Maylily sounded good to me. And when I started to do deeds, I came across one deed named Leaf-walker and I knew I needed that as a surname! It fits a Burglar =)

Ceraria is named after a type of Flower, found in Gardens I believe!
Taily? She's named using the suffix -born from the race of men and.. I always imagined her having a Tail so, Tailborn! :3

Indeed! My new hobbit Burglar has all it takes to be Mr. Baggins, minus actually being a Baggins ;D
I gave him the most honored name amongst characters I create...Soarel, my very own username.
"Soarel" is derived from the verb "soaring" and the name of Superman's father, Jor-El, because that's a damn cool name.Last edited by Soarel; Apr 08 2013 at 05:36 PM.

Duplenty Nimblefingers
Duplenty comes from the song Grand Pappy Duplenty, by the Red Hot Chili Peppers (real old one, off the first album I believe). He comes from a long line of Nimblefingers, who were named for their incredible dexterity as evidenced by their music-making abilities (and a few other things as well
)...
All of my horses name's also have some sort of RHCP influence; As of now I've got, in order of acquisition: Pappy (Grand Pappy Duplenty); Pappy II; Zephyr (The Zephyr Song); Dani ("Dani the girl" from By The Way; same girl from Dani California); and Martian (the name of Flea (the bass player)'s dog at the time of recording the Stadium Arcadium album, who passed away before the completion of the album, and had the song Death of a Martian named in his honour
).
Loved reading all the other names! Seeing a thread that's been alive since pre-launch weekend is super awesome as well!! Keep it alive, fellow hobbits!

My Hobbit Burglar is called Handee Pokkits.
I've just recently created two Hobbits (one on each of my accounts) named Popet and Murry, they will be my "characters" for a parody role play blog i will be writing called "Wet Socks & Two Smoking Hobits" (yes i know hobbit has two B's, blame the kinship name filter for that!) http://wetsocks.swgrp.co.uk .
