Just curious. I saw a lot of hobbit names in beta that I thought were very clever and/or funny. Mine was called Jeffaman but I just came up wit that one by putting one of the suggested suffixes on my real name(betcha can't guess what that is )
I think the Nerfherder bloodline died with CB. So I am at a loss for a good Hobbit name right now. Everything that sounds good and hobbity seems to close to a name from the books.

Ah well....you can still be "half-witted" and "scruffy looking", though.

OK I guess I should waited until tomorrow so names don't get burgled. I didn't really think about that. I'll be making at least 2 or 3 hobbits this weekend so I'll have to give it some thought tonight.
Hehe. I realize that now. I'll wait until Monday and retitle: "Hey! What did you name your hobbit?"
Personaly I have a long history of using whatever goofy name comes to mind during character creation but I now realize I should've waited since some folks probably have names they want to reserve.
"Remember what Bilbo used to say: It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to..."
- Frodo to Sam
Just to save you some headache, the suffix -ard is not allowed. A lot of the common hobbit names are also reserved. The game gives tips on naming conventions and that seems to lead people to pick the same 20 names in each race. You'll have better luck at level 15 when you can pick a surname....some more common names are available. Humm maybe a Hobbit burgler named Locke Smith or Lox Mith or .......
Ah well, it makes sense, as there can only be so many of each family.

FWIW, there is a lot of genology for Hobbits, so finding a lore based name shouldn't be too difficult for Founders. Just another perk I suppose.
I tended to go Fallohide, just like the skin tones best. For men I just used the appendix and combined two names. For female hobbits I opened up a gardening book and started picking flower names. I've two great ones, sure to be the first two I roll. Gemstones are great, and Fairy tale names too....like Goldilocks.
Do people really take other people's names they wanted to use on purpose? Now why would someone go and do that? Just to be mean? No secret what I'd like to call myself in-game.. Dolbin! I'd like to have the last name Twinleaf but a fella said that might be an NPC's name. Anyway, I hope nobody takes my name!
Well as might be obvious by my Forum name, I was intending to be Hobson. A nice proper hobbit name. I actually use the same name for a bard I have/had in EQ2. Unfortunately, even thought I logged into the Windfola server at 12:45EDT the name had already been taken.
What are the odds? I kinda expeted something of that nature since I had the name during CB1 but I couldn't get it during CB2, so I modified it in the classic way and am now named Hobbson.
Somebody on the server the other day was suggesting Teabaggins, I got a chuckle out of that =]

Im on Brandywine with Halfas Gamge lvl 15 minstrel. Actually pretty unoriginal since its taken straight from Halfast Gamgee. I also have a burgler named Haldoc.
