Thread: 2nd Age 60 LI + Scr.L.Delving = Relics + Mirk.Rune?

Gday all,

I have a 2nd age LI nearing max level of 60.
I want to make sure I get back my relics
AND get a new Mirkwood IXP rune.

This is my plan :

1. Get a scroll of Lesser Delving
2. Apply it to my LI making it max level 61
(reforge at 60 leave relics in)
3. Level the LI to max 61/61
4. Decon at level 61 - get relics back and IXP rune

Is that correct?


Can I apply the scroll now, or should I apply the Scroll only when it reaches 60/60 ?

Will I definitely get my relics back when I deconn at 61/61 ?
Will I really get a Mirkwood IXP rune?

you get your mirk rune and relics back if the item is max level. Thats 60 or, if you delve it, 70. I am not sure what happens if you pop to 61 and break it.

The mirk rune is insultingly tiny anyway, the biggest thing is to ensure you get the relics back, I would just pop it at 60 and not fool with the scroll.

If you're not going to keep the LI for future use, there is no reason to use a scroll of delving. Reforge it at 60 and take the relics out, then deconstruct it. You will get your relics out, and you will get your 20K Mirkwood rune.

My understanding is that a decon at 60 will NOT get a Mirkwood rune (or at least only a small one),
but

Your understanding is incorrect. In order to get a Mirkwood rune from an LI that has an item level less than 61, the LI must be either 1st or 2nd age, have an item level of at least 59 (i.e. you must be level 59 to equip it), and have an experience level of at least 60 (i.e. you have to earn enough IXP to get it to 60).

Using a scroll of delving will increase the maximum experience level from 60 to 70. I don't know where you're getting 61 from.

Since the size of the runes you get back are somewhat based on the amount of IXP you have invested into the weapon (there are break points, but I don't know them off the top of my head) it might be possible that you could get a larger Mirkwood rune by deconning at level 61. But even so, the rune is going to be pitifully small. Under no circumstances is it worth using a scroll of lesser delving to try and get a larger Mirkwood IXP rune from a deconstruction.

I still suggest unslotting relics at the level 60 reforge and deconstructing at level 60. Mirkwood IXP is easy to earn via Mirkwood instances (SH EM) and quests.

In theory you should get your relics back if you decon an LI after it has had it's final reforge. If you do not use a scroll of lesser delving, the final reforge will be the level 60 reforge. Some people are still reporting that they have not gotten their slotted relics back after deconning a max levelled LI. They might be mistaken or there might be a bug that is not giving back slotted relics.

If you want to level the LI higher than 60 and still keep your good relics, here is what I would do.

1: Reforge at 60, select the option to unslot your relics at that reforge. NOTE: If you have put a crafted relic on the LI, you cannot unslot it, crafted relics can never be removed from an LI once you have used them.

2: Use a scroll of lesser delving on the LI to let it level to 70. Put some other relics on the LI that won't upset you if you don't get them back (or leave it with no relics slotted).

3: Level the LI up some more, how much more is up to you. Decon the LI. The higher you level the LI past level 60, the bigger the Mirkwood xp rune will be. If you decon the LI before the level 70 reforge, don't be suprised if you do not get your slotted relics back (except the crafted relic, you never get that back).

I don't know how far through the game you are or what your character level is. My personal experience with levelling up in Mirkwood is that it won't hurt you to keep using your current 2nd Age LI all the way to the current level cap (level 65). Yes, you'll start finding 3rd age LI's at around level 63 that can surpass your current LI but your character will reach level 65 long before you will be able to get a level 63 LI higher than your current LI.

In my opinion the LI's for levels 61 - 64 really aren't worth putting much effort into unless you find a really good one, you might as well stick it out until you find a level 65 LI you want to use as a replacement for your current 2nd Age LI, level it up through a couple of reforges to see how it develops and if it's looking good that's when you should decon your 2nd Age LI. Don't break that 2nd Age LI up until you have a decent replacement in your hands. Decon too soon and you'll have lost a good LI before you've found something you feel happy replacing it with. What will you be using while you are looking for that replacement LI?

No, this is NOT correct. Both the scroll of delving and the scroll of lesser delving do the same thing, they both increase the experience cap of an LI from 60 to 70. The reason why there are two different scrolls of delving is because a scroll of lesser delving only works on Moria LI's (character use level is 60 or lower). The full scroll of delving only works on Mirkwood LI's (character use level is 61 - 65).

Close - The scroll of delving should work on any LI. But yes, scrolls of delving will increase the maximum experience level from 60 to 70.

This is incorrect, I'm not sure how many people can tell you this until you understand it.

A Sroll of Delving will increase any LI up to equip level 65 to a max ixp level of 70.

A Lesser Scroll of Delving will increase any LI up to equip level 60 to a max ixp level of 70.

Both scrolls add 10 levels to LI's, but you cannot use a Lesser Scroll of Delving on a LI with a higher equip level of 60.
