I completed the Epic quest 'fire and ice' with my mini on my first try...my wife has been trying it over and over (solo) for around 5 hours and cannot kill the darn nazgul. What is a good strategy / rotation for a burglar? I only play my mini and have no clue about her abilities on her character and need some help...helping her figure out what to do...for me it was easy, so I'm guessing she is not using a proper rotation of skills or something. thank you for your suggestions.
if possible, sneak in and backstab it. Some bosses are scripted to prevent this though -- they target you even if stealthed, happens a lot in skirms and solo content..
After that, try a stun (he may be immune) with twist & do another backstab. If he can be stunned, let it wear off and then hit touch and go, beating on him. As soon as that wears off, hit ready and able and do it again. If she is up to legendary weapons, try a bleed build and keep hitting CA stacks, its awesome on tough mobs. This isnt really a rotation, but its the core of how you fight an elite master. Dont forget food, scrolls, etc.

Hmm, this could be tough, not sure how the new mechanics will help. Remember the Nazgul stuns you and starts the script where they awaken Thorog, you then fight the Nazgul so no stealth attacks for you. He is stun immune and further more he will reflect shadow damage for any common damage you do (read bleeds are bad). Luckily they changed it a long while back so that he only heals once so at least you only have to kill him twice in this instance.
Can you not duo it and you heal her? If you do that you will still get the inspired greatness, just a lesser buff, and it should be a straight up tank and spank where she will tank.
I would love to duo the content, but from what I can tell you either can solo it or do it as a fellowship. Do you just accept the solo quest and then group up and enter the instance?

Yes you can just go in as a duo and the buff will scale
I just tried it at level 59 and wasn't sure if I was going to make it. The nazgul had 30k moral and I had 16k. I think the main problem was dread. I kept cowering and lost a lot of moral at the beginning. Having a + 5 hope potion would have made it really easily since I was out of action for a 30-50% of the fight. Just when I was about to hips and try again later, the nazgul got scared and ran away at ~5-10k.

Now I have just completed this on my burg which was lvl 48 at the time. This was a really tough fight, especially considering I missed two interrupts (one for healing and the other for summoning). I only got him down to around 4K and the instance ended quickly. I actually thought I had died then the cinematic started WHEW!
The rotation I used was making sure I was in Mischief Stance and rotated your debuffs, stuns, reveal weakness and clever retort whenever it was up. Caltrops also added some DOT. The stuns didn't all work but some actually proved useful
Probably the toughest fight thusfar I have encountered.
Dont forget that even if a boss is immune to stuns/riddles you can use marbles/exploit opening to stun any boss that is not completely immune to conj. (This can also interrupt scripts that are not normally interruptable. If you get a resist on an important addle followup with exploit opening as your backup interrupt skill.)
Marbles
Beat on mob
hit touch and go
beat on mob
exploit opening (Sure the mob still has the 1 min conj immunity, but since you are solo you arent actually going to get a conj anyways. You can use exploit opening to stun the mob again as soon as the 10s stun immunity wears off. Note: This doesnt work the other way around. If you use exploit opening first you will not be able to use marbles for a stun until the 1 min conj immunity wears off.)
beat on mob
ready and able to reset cooldown
exploit opening
beat on mob
touch and go
beat on mob
Of course use pots, glee, debuffs, reveal weakness, etc
Most most mobs will die without ever getting a real chance to attack you

Awesome. Note that riddle is a decent backup to addle in many cases as well. Also note that after a FM on the mob you can use escape clause to reset T&G once. Also note that some mobs can be stun-baited --- you LET the mob stun you so you can use find footing, getting a massive heal along with yet another T&G buff. Combine all that and you have 120 seconds of T&G buff along with several seconds of stun time and, if your FM was green, another 15-20 or whatever it is seconds of effective immprtality (its like 600 or something per tick healing from a good green FM). Throw in glee with tools, a potion, food, .... it adds up to a burg being able to tank a pretty darn tough mob for a solid 3 min without much in the way of healing at all!

Hey guys, thanks for all the help!!! It's the crying wife here. My fake it 'till you make it worked well and then, well, my inexperience caught up with playing an advance class. He tried to warn me.
Hopefully now I'll be able to make it for a few more levels before I have another crisis!

Love the tag team forum handles.
/good luck with the burg!

Doing the Volume I stuff solo is interesting - I have a regular group that completed it a long time ago and that was on my burglar. I just did Volume I on my 65 Guardian alt and learned a few things. Yes, you get the super buff even if you are in a small fellowship - it just scales with the group size. That can really help. The second thing is that at level 65 with a Guardian in overpower mode, all 15 books of Volume I are downright trivial except for two things:
1. The travel is a nightmare (although the recent free horsey weekend helped loads!)
2. Book 5's 'Fire and Ice' was the hardest single encounter in the entire thing. Yes, that's right - Book 5 was the one time I almost thought I might have to fail and re-do a step. The problem is the Nazgul's fear. There was so much Dread, my 65 Guardian dropped from a buffed 28K morale to almost 11K before the actual beating commenced and then, he spent almost as much time cowering as he did fighting. So grats to anyone who does this level appropriate either in group or solo. I just want you to know that might be the hardest battle you will have in Volume I.
