Listen Stop listing to intel ghz race. Ghz Dont mean anything. Here why.
I have 3 laptops
1 is 3.4 ghz with L3 cache 2mb 1gb of ram and 2 80gb hard drive. Sound fast huh. for a laptop.
2 core duo 1.66 ghz 1gb of ram onboard grapics 100gb hard drive. Mid range.
3 Then my Monster Core 2 2.33 ghz 4mb of cache is max out. Ram 2gb Geforce go 7600 256 mb. 250gb hard drive.
Most noobs would go the frist one would be the fastest. but please note 2 and 3 have faster CPUs also duo core. While the frist one has a Desktop cpu in a laptop and a virtual cpu. So it trick the computer into thinking it 2 cpus.
So what I see is Laptop 3 is a 15.4 Inch laptop faster and has more hard drive space 2gb of ram. then my desktop replacement.
So please stop with oh ghz is better.
Here what it comes down to. Ghz/Cache/FSB and Northbrige.
Intel will be faster if they had a onboard controler with Northbrige built in the CPU like Amd. That will be out in a year or two. Amd would be faster if they can add more Cache and faster Front side buss Also in a year or two.
Grapics card It depends on the gpu, Ram and the type of ram. Where alot of Intergraded grapics share ram from the computer. Stay away from that type of system. I mean if you have 1gb of ram and share it with a 256gb Intergraded grapics that has no ram you infact have 768mb of ram for your total system. and 256mb for the Intergraded grapics. this will very from 32mb, 64mb 128mb and 256m
One thing that core 2 2.33 Laptop is Max out on all the tests.
How would this system handle ultra?:
(and yes, it's a laptop)
-Vista probably, unless I can get a copy of XP SP2
-Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.2ghz T7500 4mb L2 Cache, 800mhz Front-side bus
-2gb ram (DDR2)
-Nvidia GeForce 8600m GS (256 MB)
-240Gb hard drive
ok. Mine is way over to the right in green, way past reccomended. But im having 2 problems on 2 different computers. on one computer, the computer with a superb system that is way past reccomended, every time i log into the game, im only logged in for about a minute before my computer reboots on its own. It only happens when im in LOTRO and its impossible to play, i have never played it on that computer to this day. And on another computer, after installing it i attempt to go into the game, and the launcher will not even pull up, ever. someone help me

I have two computers that I play this game on. On my laptop I didn't even pass the minimal requirements. The Video card RAM requires 64 mb but mine has 32 mb. Still runs alright as long as I have very low graphics and have it in window mode not full screen.
As for my other computer, it passed the recommended with flying colors. Happy about that.
I like this tool a lot. glad this was stickied so long ago.

I got full bars on all tests, except for OS. I am using Windows XP Home Edition SP2. I was wondering, what would I gain by going to Vista? (besides DX10). Will I see an increase in game performance per say?
How do I fix this?

Hey I have a couple of questions. My laptop is a 1.7, but it's rated at 1.20 Ghz, what does that mean. I know that I can change the processor speed from 800 to 1.73 pending i choose battery optimized or power optimized in notebook hardware control.
I mean I can play decently well, except for bree which lags at times.
I plan to build a new computer as soon as tax returns come in the mail.

Ok I ran the test I passed recommended on everything but my video card. My video card didn't even pass minimum lol. I have played this game for a long time so I think it would be worth it to improve my system for this. Any recommendations or know where I could get a good one for a decent price?

There was a "Kill Bits" issued by Microsoft at the request of System Requirements Lab. Possibly you are out of date with Windows updates? Or your security program is out of date or possibly a varient of the original vulnerability. You can read about it here:
"Microsoft Security Advisory (956391)
Cumulative Security Update of ActiveX Kill Bits
Published: October 14, 2008 | Updated: November 12, 2008"
It tells you how to uninstall it as well. It was issued Oct/Nov of 2008, and should have been available as an update, and... should... have disabled any old version of CanYouRunIt's ActiveX control, and patched with the new, more secure one.
this is why I run firefox and not IE.

Re: Online System Requirements Tool
And this Java/ActiveX plugin ultimately fails in Windows 7, lol.
I only use Firefox, and it didn't even try to download anything Java from them. I then tested in IE 8 on the same PC, and the ActiveX app doesn't install, even though I'm prompted to download it, etc.
Shame on System Requirements Lab. They can't keep up with the times, lol. If they were smart, they'd ditch using ActiveX at all and just use a simple Java application instead of a "plugin". A regular Java app would have worked regardless of O/S, though results are intended for Windows-based PCs.

Yup, most likely that's what it is intended to do. Your 8800 Ultra is a nice card. Top of the line for the 8-series without a doubt, and it will still compete nicely with a newer GTS 250, though all 200-series would beat it. As for 9-series, it will trump the entire line except for the 9800 GTX+ or any dual-GPU one.

lol i got confusing results from this test.
Ok so I checked for regular LOTRO and I passed (a little above the minimum).
So then i see there's Mines Of Moria listed, i check if i can run it and........Aparantly i dont have enough disk space lol. Here's the REAL ironic part.........I've been playing Mines of Moria since it came out lmao

After 2 days of downloading, updating, verifying and whatever else this thing does I finally FOUND where the play button was, clicked it, picked the server or whatever it's called, the thing gave me a "color display error" then went black, a few seconds it started the lead in - now it is jerking and the sound stutters. After the little movie the screen goes black and NOTHING!!!!!! I have spent hours going through the forums, called the num someone gave me and got a recording telling me to check online for help. I have added the suggested sites to the firewall, nothing, I disabled the firewall, no difference. I have not chosen a character - never found that area. It took soooo long to download in the first place and I have already lost a full week of paid for playtime. ...... SO, here is what is in this new laptop: Good enough or not? I do not have a clue what most of this means. If I need so upgrade something, where and how do I do that?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, the Intel integrated chipset cannot be changed in a laptop, which means you are stuck with it. The other portion of the bad news is that the integrated chipset (which isn't a card, but a chip on the laptop's motherboard) shares memory with the whole laptop, and that means that it generally is not a good option for playing games that are both graphically and memory intensive such as MMOs, LOTRO in particular.
Give a guy a pound of gold...he'll complain about how heavy it is. Enmity of Forum Trolls: 106/5000Of the Egaads clan
Yes, your specs look fine except for your graphics card. I'm clueless regarding laptop cards, but if you haven't already, start a new thread in the Tech Support forum about it, and I'm sure you will get good advice.
Good luck.
EDIT: DarkCntry seems to have answered your question, Sorry for the bad news.

Heheh according to that test, my video card is lacking?
.
It's fine. I get the same thing. It says that I fail for video on the minimum but I have played the game so I know it works. Not great but it works. This what it says:
So I really do pass but the page says I don't. It says I fail on other games that I have played like Doom 3. The computer is a dv5215us HP laptop with a 1.8ghz Turion 64 single core processor, 2gb RAM and Radeon Xpress 200 graphics with 128mb of discrete video RAM

how would a computer with AMD Phenom™ II Duo (2.8GHz)
8gb of ram
1TB SATA Harddrive
GraphicsNVIDIA GeForce 9100
how would this computer handle lotro
I'm sure it would run it but the Graphics are weak so you'd probably have to run the standard version and not the high res one. Everything else is fine.
This is odd I'm trying to play this game again after partaking in the beta of it, even then i would unplayable lag and yet SRL(system requirement labs) states that i pass recommended, and yet even with setting set to very low i still get less than 10fps in areas.
system spec
CPU - P4 2.93ghz
Ram - 1.5g
Vid - 1G EVGA Nvidia Geforce 9400 GT[with shader 3.0]
and still I lag even in D&DO i lag in the town but in dungeons i can max the setting and get over 30fps.
wow this tool is kind of lacking my laptop can play tones of games with better graphics so i figured i would run this just to see and it "failed" on my video card because its intergrated but more than meets the recommended system specs even for the video card i say fail
