The History of the Dúnedain Deed

Does anyone know how to unlock this deed? I've gotten all of the Cardolan pages from the Barrow Downs. The Flowers of the Old Forest deed didn't unlock until I visited Goldberry's Spring. Do I need to visit a certain location to get started on The History of the Dúnedain deed?

The deed unlocks when you find one of the items and click on it. The first one I found was in the Archet starter area, in the brigand camp. Others are in the brigand camp by the Yellow Tree, the ruins with bears between Staddle and Combe, Bree (on the west side), and in midgewater. Its been a while since I did that but thats how it worked.

I tried that, but it didn't work. None of the items in the deed glowed for me, and I couldn't click on them. It was the same way with the Flowers of the Old Forest before I visited Goldberry. I think I need to do something or visit a certain location to activate the deed, but I'm not sure what/where it is.

Are you sure you don't have it started already? Just this Saturday, I found my first flower in the OF, and Then I found Goldberry - who had a light-blue ring over her head telling me about the flowers; i.e. I have already "started the quest" before talking to her. Same thing with the History (and afaik, there is No one who tells you about them), tho I did find my first one a few weeks back and have yet to finish it lol.

I'm very sure. Talking to Goldberry didn't activate the Flowers quest. Rather, finding the location (point-of-interest flag on the map) is what did it. Before I located Goldberry's Spring, the flowers didn't glow for me. After I visited the spring, they did. That leads me to believe I need to find a certain location before the History locations will glow for me.

With my other toons, this wasn't a problem. However, this toon is an elf (now level 61) who spent zero time in the Chetwood area while leveling, and I suspect there is a location somewhere in the Chetwood/Midgewater Marsh that I need to visit in order to activate the History deed.

This seemed to me to be an easy way to get an extra point of Idealism for my RK, but it's proven to be more challenging than anticipated.

Hmmm I have a toon that's yet to step a foot outside Ered Luin. I'll see if I can test tonite and see if he can run straight from the West Bree stables to that Dunedain thing by the poor quarters and activate it.

Wow. Weird. Thanks for checking that. I checked my deed log, and I have neither started nor completed the deed, and none of the items in the deed glows for me. I am utterly mystified. I may ask a GM for assistance in-game.

I've seen a lot of people reporting problems with those 2 deeds, and a variety of answers.

Some have said log out and back in, some have said its bugged for certain races, some have said you need a GM to fix it... hope you get it figured out.
Not all those who wander are lost. They might be working on one of their exploration deeds.

I too have never encountered a problem with the Dunedain deed. (I do think I was lacking access to the flower one once though, but came across it later, so it must of activated.) I have seen posts and questions from folks in game why they couldn't get the Crest in Bree, when they used to be able to on other characters of theirs. It boggled me, since I've never encountered it. I heard some suggestions for fixxes: Re-log (but I think it didn't help).

Then there is one other I heard, Step up nice and close and hit Delete to select it, then U to use it. I did not hear the results on if that worked.

It would be interesting to know what level those others were who had problems. I'm thinking (since the OP is L60+ on the problem char) that maybe there's some "future" content that's causing the bug. Tho I have completed this deed at various levels among numerous toons, most of them started it at fairly low levels (for my first 5 chars for example, I did the crest when doing the Ghost quest, since part of that quest was near that area).

A helpful GM took care of the problem for me and unlocked the deed. I asked him if he knew what the cause was. He said that it's a known issue, but they're not sure what causes it. So, if anyone has difficulty with this, merely contact your friendly neighborhood GM. Within 10 minutes, I had Idealism up to 9. If only the next deed, to get Idealism to 10 (killing a bunch of Gauredain in Forochel), would go as swiftly.

I was having this issue as well on my elf hunter. I was standing in the Midewater Marsh next to the Ancient Altar and decided to work on killing spiders instead. After engaging and killing a spider the altar started glowing.

    Elf rune-keeper.

Obelisk did not light up till I killed a spider by it.

Confirmed. Dwarf RK killed a spider near the alter in the marshes, activated the altar.

    Dwarf RK.

Mine was different...I tried to kill the spiders around the ancient altar but it didn't light up. So I stood on the altar, logged out, then logged in and it glowed for me.

Note though, that I opened a ticket in game so not sure if a GM came in and reset the deed for me and it somehow took affect when I logged back in.

Necro, but I just had this problem on one of my chars. My char had been grouped with two other people and we had done pretty much the same thing throughout the entire game, always grouped. Race doesn't matter.

We were standing in front of one of the items. Everyone could click on it except me. However, as soon as I left the group the item became highlighted and I could click on it, unlocking the deed!

I noticed this problem with my Hobbit Minstrel on Firefoot. While doing the tour of Bree, I ran by the Ancient Crest in Mud Gate, but it wasn't glowing, and I couldn't click it. I'll try again tonight and perhaps bug a GM if it's still not working. Thanks bringing this to my attention.

It's been 4 months since the last post on this. Just wanted to re-confirm that this is still bugged. My elf RK could not activate the deed. I had a very rapid response from a GM however, so all is good now!

I'm on my 4th character (Man LM) and this is the first to encounter this bug. I had no luck at the crest in Bree so I went to the inscription in the Staddle ruins. Same thing. So I pulled up this thread and tried killing enemies close by. Killed 2 bears, looked around and hey presto! Inscription is glowing!

I had exactly the same problem on one of my alts. The deed didn't trigger when I went to the locations. I filed a ticket in-game and a kind GM helped me unlock it.

I haven't encountered the bug on any of my 3 characters, but I can't find the Obelisk - I found all the others

Statue - In the brigand camp near the Yellow Tree
Inscription - In the ruins where the bears are between Combe and Staddle
Cairn - In the Blackwolds Roost in Archet
Crest - In Bree near the Mud Gate
    Altar - In the Marsh
    Obelisk - ???

Also in the Marsh, in a ruin north of the altar at the end of the swamp.
