    Re: Song Compilation

Gman, I am currently working on a James Bond theme that I intend to try and produce in ABC format for the upcoming patch. I dont know if anyone else will beat me to it tho, as I am not a composer :-)

But I am working on it...

I'd Love to hear any and all Ultima music you can make/rewrite in ABC format I found your character select one and use it in game for myself...gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling everytime i play it so Thank you so much for doing that one and I can't wait to hear more.

    Re: Song Compilation

The basics for "In the End" by Linkin Park (I bet everyone knows this, but here it is anyways )

This is using Psomm's key setup - view here

    D-J-J-G-V-V-V-V-G-D-J-J-G-V

This basic sceme can be copy and pasted in little pieces to make the majority of what is the verse music (also this can be played in a few different keys - this is the one I used because it's right in the middle of the 2nd octave for us).

Also, if we are able to one day put chords in ABC, reference Here and you can see all the chords in various keys on either a keyboard or a guitar - the keyboard is excellent especially for translation to the game via the Psomm setup - scroll down past the "love calculator" or whatever banner ad is up at the time to see the various chord schemes for this song.

"Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens"

    Re: Song Compilation

I don't know why you insist on seperating the keys so much into 2 lines. Your hands would get in the way of each other. A Piano is laid out in a straight line for a reason to make it easy to play with 2 hands.

I can't use the new Psomms at all as it's just bizarre to be going down for the sharps on the a-k set. I'll post my keysetup here and some can use it if they want a more Piano oriented setup except for the enter key making a small gap it works pretty much the same.

    In order of actual notes.

    C-B Low octave -- C, D and E are on keys Z, X and C the only ones not in a line.
    F-B -- is Q-R with the sharps above them example Q = F, 2 = F#

    C-B middle octave -- is T-[ again with the sharps above them example T = Middle C, 6 = C#

C-C High Octave -- is ]- +(numpad) skipping over the enter key. Sharps are still above like before example 7(num) = G, Numlock(num) = G#

This basically puts all the notes in order from Low F to High C and the sraps in a line above their notes.

Up to you guys but I just find that much more natural and easy to play.

    Re: Song Compilation

The mapping has changed since the patch. Can anyone tell me how to remap it with the new keys? I dont understand the OP with things like notes 1-8, or 17-24, etc.

My options > keymapping doesnt have the #s listed like that.
It says "Play Note C2, C#2, D2, D#2, etc etc. What key goes to what note?
Half of mine are bare except the regular #s1-8, which play to notes C3 - G3 then #6 is A3, #7 is B3, then #8 says C4! Then theyre blank below that too. Very confusing!

If anyone has it mapped like in the OP can someone take a screenshot of their music keymapping and upload it please?

    Re: Song Compilation

Yeah they reset the all the keymappings. Basically now they go in order from the top to the bottom. Starting with the lowest set of C-B, then Middle C-B, then the next C-HighC (the last note).

I posted a pic of my keyset which was simply modified from before and added the extra notes to what I already had.

Where did all the psomm format songs go? Is there that many that insist to simply go abc?

    Ok forgive newbness.

But does one actually have to learn (by memory) to number these out 1-10 during your music session, or is there some way of hitting a macro and having your character automatically play pre-programmed music?

Thanks for posting this! <3 anime music . . . I redid it in standard keymapping which I never saw on these forums, so for those of you who like playing in the standard format, here's my contribution to this wonderful thread :-D

The two notes I have in brackets are ones I felt that needed to be added . . . without them it sounds like there's a note missing when you try to play the Evangelion opening theme (Zankoku na tenshi no tetze).

I also LOVE the zelda music. One thing I have not seen posted which I would love to figure out is how to play the theme for Kakariko Village. Does anyone know how to play that in LOTR online?

After finding the song, came to realize this is not the ABC thread, but since I found it, here is where the abc file can be downloaded: http://lotro.warcry.com/db/song/85

    found an error on line 5: replace> K:Eflat with> K:Eb
    and it will then play.

With some tinkering, you could translate that to keys so you can play it manual, or just use the /play command for a hardy "oohrah" from your comrads.

I have, but you might want to check the ABC songbook for songs. Unless you like to play live, then this is the thread you are looking for. Here is the abc for the song you are asking for.

    Lightbulb Cow Bell

Has anyone written any songs made specifically for the cowbell? I'd be interested in one!

Um, does anyone know how to do the Sissel song Asea Aranion? Well, actually just the very beginning before she sings.. I have the very first bit figured out, but I'm still having trouble. Could someone help me?

    Re: Song Compilation

After many long years of not touching the music, I'm about to this weekend. But looking over the threads, I've noticed some songs seem to have more formatting than others.

Some seem to break notes and such down with blocks, using "|2d fc|" and the like. Then there are those like the "Never Going to Give You Up," posted above, which have [ and ] and /.

Are the songs posted, such as those in the leading post of the thread, playable automatically, as-is, so long as in a text file in the right folder?

    Then there is the:
    X: 1
T: Never Gonna Give You Up (by Cervantes)
Z: Rick Astley (You Just Got Rick Rolled)
    L: 1/4
    Q: 114
    K: C

Now, what does the header above do? Does it trigger anything visual, is it setting up what instruments do what, etc?

    Simply put,

    |<notes in here>| the notes in between the bars represent one measure of a song.

The files u see that have no measures separated by the | | are files made by using LOTRO Midi player, a great little program. I think a couple other programs also don't put the measure bars in, one's that have the bars are usually files that have been made by hand.

the [] brackets are for playing more then one note at the same time.

the / is the command for a half note to be played.

The header is just that, a header, no visuals in game, it is part of ABC format.

X = is for multi part files, although u need it for a single part file to.

    T = Title of song

Z = name of transposer (person who made the file)

    L = length of note

Q = Speed file is played at

K = Key the song is played in.

There are some other commands that can be used in header, but these are the most common and all but the Z in the above example are needed for the file to play.

I no it is a lot of post to read, but you may want to read through the ABC troubleshooting thread that is stickied at top of Music Forum. It has a ton of information for the new transposer. The first few month of post in that thread may or may not apply anymore, because the music system was patched and added to a couple of times well before Moria came out. but there is enough post to alert u to the changes, well worth the time to read through.

    Re: Song Compilation

Indeed, I've learned much reading through some of the posts. What really opened things up the most was by downloading a program, playing some of the songs, seeing how they worked inside the program. Broke things down nicely.
