Community RP Plot: The Flood and The Plague (updated!)
Hello Landroval!
For those active in the rp community, you may or may not be familiar with the kinship that I belong to The Twelfth Company. We are working on an upcoming plot that involves our kin, but are wanting to extend it to the community at large and make it a truly 'server wide' event.
I am posting this thread to find out who would be interested in such a plot and in what capacity. The extent of involvement with the Twelfth would be a sort of "National Guard" capacity, where they are helping to regulate immediately after the disaster, assisting in rebuilding, patrolling the area, etc. We do /not/ want to act as an extension of the Bree-town Watch, rather enhance their reach in the event of this particular disaster.
The gist of the plot is as that the heavy rains of late would cause a flood. Either the rivers would become swollen and overflow, or an unseen dam would break and cause a flash flood of sorts. Bree, itself, is built on a hill, so I'm thinking any potential damage would be in the lower lying areas (Beggar's Alley, the southern end of town, generally) and also in the homesteads. After the initial event of the flood, cleanup would commence for a number of days...enough for a sickness/disease of some type to set in.This could be an opportunity for some interesting widespread rp to happen between everyone. The standing water breeds mosquitos/sickle flies, which carry disease (dysentery, cholera, something else bad).
So there you have it: my idea for a community rp plot that could span as long as a month and involve many groups and individuals and /hopefully/ be the hot poker in the eye that the community seems to need to get things moving again!
Feel free to send me a pm and/or an in-game mail or tell. I would love to hear about who might be interested.

Hi all. While I'm not a big fan of teh doom and gloom roleplay Aqui is indeed a healer IC'ly and so I'd be happy to play a support role for those that have a need for such.
However I should warn you that she will indeed try to heal your character so if you need to perish tragically with great suffering then you might want to handle that on your own :-).
Regardless of the approach, I appreciate the inclusion of the server in the rp and think you're grand Verr for tossing this out to everyone.

Bumping up this thread as I have an idea of how things will go down, now it's time to announce the when!
I want to give plenty of notice for this event so as many people can participate as want to. As such, I'm choosing Thursday, March 18 as the initial flood event with ongoing mini-plots happening in the weeks that follow including:
generalized flooding of the low lying areas of Bree-town and the homesteads
poisoning/sickness immediately following the initial disaster due to waters that flow through the Ettenmoors (poison the Hoarwell anyone?)
extended cleanup of flood waters
more widespread sickness/disease due to conditions after the flood.
If any of this sounds interesting to you, please join us for the plot! It's sure to be an interesting community event.
I will be GM'ing most of this through a raid and/or LFRP, but I also need people to help! If you are interested in helping me run this plot, please send me a forum pm or an in-game mail (any of the alts listed below!).

Woot! Isen lives on a hill. Suckaaaas!
And so does the Redwold Estate, I might add.
But sweet. We'll participate. The Redwolds have been operating some free medical clinic type things about every other week so this gives us another opportunity to serve the people of Bree!

Unless I put him in a cage, in the low ground
I'll be in touch with you in game, but I'd love to put the sworn forward for this event, will be nice to have a reason while Archet is still a wreck after years. >.>
Re: Community RP Plot: The Flood and The Plague (working title)
Well I'm in, though Hildillac may be the one, not Eregar yet...
I could also either use any of the 4 "brothers"; Adantormdor, Adanthordor, Taerdan, and Cendlaf.
I also feel that the Watchers of Bree (Kin Cendlaf and Adanthordor was in, then it crashed) can't do any harm/help whatsoever. Kin'll have to be restarted if it hasn't already. The other Kins assuming roles as the Watchers may come, though I'm not in any.
Re: Community RP Plot: The Flood and The Plague (working title)
I can't really get on this because I don't have a toon on Landroval (yet), but I must say this is a great idea. It is new ammo for the ideas I'm mulling around of possibly moving a character or restarting my lotro life entirely, on Landroval.

Re: Community RP Plot: The Flood and The Plague (working title)
I have created a user chat channel for this event. It will be used for planning up until the day of (next Thursday, the 18th), and then for the event, the channel will be used to GM events that are happening. I think this is the best way to ensure that everything happens on a larger scale, since emotes aren't regional...and I don't want to fill the Regional channel with spam.
So if you intend to participate in the event, go ahead and join user chat floodandplague.
If you're unsure how to do this, type /joinchannel floodandplague. Then to type in it, type /# (where the # corresponds to the appropriate channel that was assigned). Feel free to ask questions if you're unsure!
Re: Community RP Plot: The Flood and The Plague (working title)
I wish I could say that I'll be involved, but unfortunately I can't. I've got way too many other plotlines going at the moment, each of which would be negatively impacted by this one (and delayed too much or even prevented from completion). Good luck to everyone with it, though!
Re: Community RP Plot: The Flood and The Plague (working title)
Will be in attendance late on the evening of the actual flood and in events throughout the weekend. Please send me mail if you need help coordinating anything
Wulferyn, Setherwynn or Kaenwynn.

This should be fun. Or interesting. Thorvall's pregnant wife is giving birth the 17th. Fortunately, both their house and the kinhall are on a hill. I'll have to play an alt for most of the duration, which could be fun.

I can just picture the scene....
Thursday.
Thorvall pushes sweat soaked hanks of hair from his eyes as he looked up to survey the work. In a manic week, Archet had been more or less repaired to it's previous, pre-battle state.
Nodding with satisfaction, he flinched as a drop of rain splashed his nose, then another, then another.
"Hmmm...looks like rain."
Friday.
Thorvall is found sobbing among the debris.
You maniacs, you blew it up!

Re: Community RP Plot: The Flood and The Plague (working title)
Since I've been informed that I have plans tonight, thus will not be able to be there for this start to this event, I wish everyone good luck.
Eastmund is hopeful that his "caretakers" will keep him dry.
Indrandir is currently in the Bree area, so would like to help with rescues and healing.
Calemiron will be in the Shire or Falathlorn and would not be available to aid until later.
Jhak will be Jhak. So long as his "mom" is safe, and his "relatives" are too, he will do what he does...
If I am lucky, I'll be able to get on for a short time later tonight and try to help out with Indrandir and/or Jhak (well, helpful is a relative term with Jhak).
I hope everyone has a blast with the rain and flooding...

Synewyn: Yes, I believe Fin mentioned she'd like to get underway with announcements and discussion at 7pm EST, with the actual event beginning at 8pm EST.
Fick:

Their house is not on a hill and you're home alone unable to move. What do YOU think will happen? >.<

Laela, about how long are the effects of this going to last? Like a few weeks you think?

One, Jhak drinks life (well, not like a vampire, but in more of a free-spirited sort of way)...oh and he had some ale, but I think that only made him more coherent, not less.
