oh well, this laptop is giving me hard time. As soon as one problem is fixed a new one appears. After I have now resolved the issue with my graphics driver I am getting the following messages:
First it tells me: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: stream".
Suddenly it changes to "getting data centers"and sometimes "getting alerts and news"... and then I receive the message : The underlying connection was closed: an unexpected error occurred on a receive.
Then it switches back to Value cannot be null. Parameter name: stream.
I'm having the same problem.
Hope the problem is fixed soon.
Oh my, maintenance today 'till 2pm
I so much wanted to get something done today - and
this doesn't help me at all

Retired and enjoying it - at least most of the time
but not this morning
The announcement about today's downtime can be found here. It was made on Friday, and has been in the launcher since then.
It hasn't been in the launcher since then. There has been nothing in my launcher. zilch, nada, as in "no words". I know I am a graduate of the "School for kids that can't not read so good" however, there have to be words in order for me to read them. Thanks.
Like Knuggs, nothing has been in my launcher for the past 3-4 days. Oh well, least I now know it is just maintenence. I was about to play with my firewall and I am an idiot and would have broken something. Cheers!
Still getting this error even though it's now 4 pm eastern... hope the servers are up before tonight, I don't want to miss Ales and Tales on Landroval
In addition, I cannot access the usual "front page" of the forums, I just get the side-bar links stretched the whole width of the page, no article blurbs or ads or even headers. I'm needing to log in every time I visit instead of the cookies "remembering" me.

Looks like the patching has had a little complication. Turbine not doing a good job of keeping folks updated. Wondering if this is a taste of things to come as the F2P patchware is loaded. Disappointing
Web pages are flakey as hell, 500 error a lot of the time trying to access the forums to check for status updates.
I'm getting the same error, but that' s not why I'm posting. I just wanted to re-interate that I have had the same issue with the launcher since a week ago yesterday. Nothing at all showing in the news box. The only way I knew the maintenance was happening today was from this website. But now it's getting on toward 5pm Eastern, and there has been NO update on what's going on since 1:15. If I miss a complete day, is Turbine going to prorate my next bill to give me a FREE day? Of course not and I wouldn't expect them to. What I do expect is for them to keep us updated a little more often than once every 4 hours.

The website and forums have been very sluggish and occasionally error-filled.
I got this one when I logged in the forum a minute ago:
"Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing or mismatched.
If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error."
Hopefully Turbine gets this right when they load the F2P data on the servers, otherwise major problems will result. "The game is unstable... What's stable?" As if the game wasn't unstable enough..
Rant over.

Yep, me too. And I think that we are going to lose a lot of players once this PFF thing goes live. The people who have been playing the game for years will have trouble logging on because of crowding, etc. That starts happening, a lot of folks will quit. If they want to make a portion of the game free to play that's fine...but develop 5 or 6 new servers and let the free people play there. Leave the regular servers for the paying customers. And they may be doing that already, I don't know. I haven't read up on how this playing for free thing is supposed to work since I pay to play.

Meh, give them a break. I'd much rather Turbine get it right and fix any issues than rush to get the servers back up and leave something out there unresolved.
But thats easy for me to say... I'm stuck at work anyway. heheh
I also have noticed the Launcher message being blank for x number of days. (I can't recall how many though, but close to a week maybe?)
Edit: Subscribers get priority login for world queues over non-subscribing accounts when FTP starts. They also get priority in support tickets (I'd guess that means you'll be contacted moresoonerish rather than just soon.)

Like many others my launcher has been blank for days. The way I found out about the maintenance was googling the error I was receiving, finding info about it on a DDO thread then doing a forum search in the tech. support forum here. I guess this will teach me to check the Service Updates thread more often, just never had a need to since the launcher usually told me what I needed to know.
I hope you guys can sort the issue/s out soon, I'm sure people are driving you nuts with e-mails and inquiries and general complaining.
