Thread: Slug-wrangler title in Carn Dum.

Slug deed in the Shire is easy to get if you kill gnats as well as slugs as they have the same spawn points. Ten or fifteen minutes, tops.

So, it seems that for the deed to show up, you already need to kill 100 slugs and it shows up as finished. My LM/capt already completed the slug deed and all the CD deeds. My minnie, however hasn't done CD and I'm experimenting on this as I go. I completed the shire slug deed on my minstrel and did one round of CD at the slugs passed Urro and where the palefolk hornblower platform is at. I'll also update and see if killing 100 slugs after doing shire deed makes the slug deed appear.

Yes, it is a HIDDEN deed... that is why these types of deeds are so difficult to keep track of. They only show up in the deed log once you've completed all the requirements.

And apparently this one had requirements that were not obvious at first (I know I was long finished with the Shire deeds when they added this one to CD.)

Step One: Complete Shire Slug deed.

Step Two: Kill 100 Giant Brimstone Leeches (the little ones don't count.)

One correction, the little slugs must count because I got the deed completion when I killed one of them.

Man, is this deed mysterious.

I don't remember getting it on my main, but I went in with an alt today to get it. Did a full CD run (probably had done a few on this one before, but many were before the deeds came in B14) and didn't get the deed completion. Someone suggested I do Shire slugs, so I did this morning.

I then went back into CD and killed about 20 slugs and got the title. On a small slug.

So I had the deed started long before I did Shire slugs. So while I can't say whether or not you need to have completed Shire slugs to *finish* the deed, you can start it without doing it.

In case anyone is compiling research in this 3-year-old thread.

Unless it's only 20 slugs that you need. I can't recall what the number is, but I can corroborate what you said. I never got the hidden CD slug-slayer deed finished until after I'd completed both the regular and advanced Shire slug-slayer deeds. I think you have to finish both to open the CD deed, and that it's a relatively small number of slugs required to complete said deed. Either way, it's pretty conclusive that you have to do the Shire slayer deeds to be able to finish the CD deeds, so either way you have to complete both.

It's 100 slugs. Which is why I said that you don't need the Shire deed finished (either tier) to *start* the CD slug deed. I can't say whether or not you can *complete* the deed without doing them, though, since I have yet to try ( I did Shire slugs because someone I asked seemed sure that you needed to, and it takes about 15 minutes, so why not).

I wouldn't say that it's conclusive that you have to do Shire slugs. If you can start a deed without having to do any prerequisites, it doesn't seem like there would be any additional hoops to jump through to actually finish it. There aren't many deeds that work this way. The only one I've encountered that is similar is the Great River Explorer meta-deed, which won't complete until you kill your first mob in the region, starting the meta-meta-deed.

I can confirm that the hidden deed in Carn Dum require you to kill 100 of the either big or small slugs.

However once you kill 100 and 'complete' the hidden deed in Carn Dum, it won't appear completed or show up until you have completed both tier of slugs tier in Shire.

I remember that I was getting frustrated as I killed so many slugs in Carn Dum and still haven't done it until Rememberme pointed out that i have yet to finish 2nd tier of my Shire slugs. Once I completed that, the Carn Dum Slugs deed appeared completed.
