We've been getting reports of MyLOTRO users seeing "Unexpected Error" pages when viewing their player pages or individual character pages. There is a known issue involving profession and vocation events in the Activity Log that can cause this. There is a known workaround, but it will only work if you are experiencing this exact issue.
How do I know if this issue is affecting me?
If you are seeing this error, please log into MyLOTRO and go into the dashboard and follow the steps below:
1. In the left-hand menu under "Appearance" select "Widgets"
2. Find the list of widgets on the right-hand side of the page
Do you see the "Activity Log" widget? If it is listed and there are events displaying that are suddenly cut off, or you receive an Unexpected Error when trying to view this page, then your issue is porbably related to the profession/vocation events
What if everything looks fine?
If you didn't experience any problems here, then your issue is a different one and you should report a bug.
What if this is my issue?
If you are experiencing an error with the Activity Log, there is a workaround. The reason you see this error on your player page (only when logged in if none of your characters are public or marked to display on Activity Logs) is that a profession or vocation event is one of your 10 most recent events. Until these events are "pushed" off the list, you won't be able to remove the widget from your page.
What now?
The first step is to play the game! If you complete more events in the game (quests, deeds, or level ups - not profession or vocation events!) then it will fall of the list of 10 most recent events. From here you have two options - you can leave the Activity Log on your player page, or remove it so that the next profession/vocation even will not cause the error to re-occur.
What if I want to keep the widget?
Log in and play the game! Once the profession and vocation events have been pushed off the first 10, your player/character page should work again. Keep in mind that the next time one of these events comes through, you will see this issue again.
How can I remove the widget?
Follow the steps above to purge the bad events from the first 10 - you won't be able to edit the widgets until you do. Once this is done, log back into your MyLOTRO page and navigate to the dashboard. Perform the following steps to remove the widget from your page:
1. In the left-hand menu under "Appearance" select "Widgets"
2. Find the list of widgets on the right-hand side of the page
3. Click on "Edit" next to the Activity Log widget
4. Click the "Remove" button
5. Click on "Save Changes"
The activity log will no longer display on your character page.
Do I have any other choices?
Once the event has fallen significantly lower in the list, you can leave the Activity Log enabled and use your page. Keep in mind however that when viewing the Full View version of the log, you will still receive an error when viewing a page of results that contains these events. You can get around this by selecting filters to show all types EXCEPT these two.
Plz fix kthxbai
This is a known issue and we do have a resolution. Unfortunately as with most development cycles, we can't just fix it at any time and it is subject to testing verifcation and deployment scheduling. We will update this thread when the issue is fixed, so that you can re-enable the activity log.
I tird all that and when I click on the widgets I get the error An Unexpected Error Has Occurred. So I cant even past that point to see if I have a problem with my widgets. Obvoiusly there is something wrong but I cant even get in the widget area to make corrections.
This really sounds like an error that would have taken less time to fix than it did to write up these notes on a workaround.
What's the ETA on getting this fixed, as I wasn't planning on spending a lot of time in game this weekend, but would still like the ability to enter the lotteries.
I hate to bump this but I am still messed up. It does not matter what character I use they are all messed up and now I even get the error on my when trying to look at our on kin.
I dunno what changed but the page is now working for me! WOOTS!
I did not level up any toons and did not do any questing or crafting.
I didn't get the "unexpected error" today when I logged in to my Player Page. And I can see all my toons plus the activity log is correct and showing too - including my new toons options for crafting vocations.
Still getting the dreaded message whenever I try to upload a graphic. That has been a problem for several weeks now. Even importing a pic from another site, like Photobucket won't work. (I'm in graphic withdrawal!)

Something happened auto-magically

We pushed an update out to MyLOTRO ninja-style on Tuesday, which resolved a number of issues players were having, include funkiness with transferred characters. Glad to hear that things are working for you again
Many months later, when trying to upload a picture to use on my blog, still getting the dreaded
"Unexpected System Error Occurred - We're very sorry to say that an unexpected error has occurred for you. The site administrators have been notified about the cause of this"
And, getting the picture to post using a service like Photobucket is time consuming. I have to cut and past a command string from a previous post, then cut and past the picture URL for it to show. Would be great to have this fixed.

Re: An Unexpected Error Has Occurred

I'm pretty sure that the original topic in the post relates to a different issue. With the new community site I think many of us are seeing this issue and it is altogether different for the original post.
The funny thing is I got the unexpected error both when trying to look at this thread and then when I first attempted to reply......Oh the irony!
I get this message about every third time I try to access any page on this site. And slowest page loading speeds I've seen in my life (and I'm old enough to remember dial-up internet).
I also get this error.
But only when entering my profile site.
I only want to see and/or change my character settings.
So I tried the work around but that didn't work. But I have to admit, I'm not sure if I did it the right way.
When on the dashboard clicking on "Elonitar's Page <- visit site" it shows
You do not currently have a primary character selected.
Choose one using the control below.
When clicking below on this liitle button another window appears saying:
"This character is marked as 'anonymous'.
To make this your primary character, first change this to a public charcter using the "My Characters" option on the "My Profile" page."
And there it goes again. I cannot access the My Profile site.
Ive not been able to see any charactor on any server ever since we were migrated over from codemasters. i get the i#unexpected error and i dont see and widgets either .. and ive completed a few hundred more deeds etc. since then
I can access my characters from the 'Characters' tab but receive the error message when trying to click on the 'My Preferences' option at the very top of the page. Confused as to why this is still happening so long after the migration...
