So, i decided that I wanted to collect all possible mounts in-game (especially since they don't take up an inventory spot now )
I wanted to pseudo-verify the list of all mounts in-game, so I went to the lorebook. Well, i was shocked to see that there are no mounts in the lorebook. They're not there as skills, and they're not there as items. Where are they? Were they there before the lorebook update this week?
Also, along the same lines, the following search produces no results:
Advanced Search --> Item (tab) --> Other (radio button) --> Mounts (checkbox) NOTE: everything else is left blank/unchanged --> Submit
That produces no results... which prompts the question, "Why is the Mounts checkbox there?"
Clarification would be appreciated, thx

No. I'm not quite 1337, but I'm close... 1336.

They were there before; you must have spooked them!
We'll have to check w/the dev team and see if we should be displaying them as items (again), skills, or both.
Hmm.. We've got Wardens of Annuminas, Forochel, Moria Goat, Lorien Horse, Volume 1 Horse, PvMP rank 9 horse. Don't know if there are others... Does council of the north have a horse? Now there's the mirkwood kindred horse and the Horse from deed completion. (Vol 2 completion)?

Yes, it's a speckledy grayish horse. (and thx for listing those out, I missed the deed completion one on my personal list)

That's 22 mounts. Although, we did this in /glff the other night and I think we came up to 23 mounts, so I might be missing one. Also, the level 25 Adventurer's Pack Bree Mount is indeed different from the Founder's level 25 Bree Mount (although functionally identical, it is a different mount -- I have them both listed in my mount skill area).
As a level 1 burglar, Bilbo got a pony from the Smaug The Dragon raid. Then he rolled on a 1st age Arkenstone for an alt. Tevye Topol
It's alot of work to get the Dunedain war horse for completion of all the CD, BG and Uru instances, so unless you like the look of it, you might want to rethink going for all possible mounts.

I've updated it with the mounts that I have, but there are still a great many mounts out there that are not in the lorebook. If anyone feels the urge to add pictures, please do so and help keep the lorebook updated.

hmm I've got a few of those, I'll see if I can get some screenies tonight-this weekend.

Hey Duwis:
Any chance we could get a name normalization pass on the Lorebook and in game? Pretty please
Speaking for mounts specifically; there are three variations on mount names, all which refer to the same animal (sort of), these are in game also. It adds an extra layer of confusion, along with more clutter.
Around when they changed the mounts to skills they changed the individual Horse and Pony items to generic "Steed", removing the confusion of buying the wrong mount for your race. But all the old Horse and Pony names are still on the existing in-game skills, along with the Lorebook database.
So no more 'Chestnut Horse', 'Chestnut Pony', and 'Chestnut Steed'. Just a single 'Chestnut Steed'
Also, why are some mounts missing from the Lorebook altogether? PvMP steed, Bree rep steed, and Mirkwood rep steed, are the ones I've found so far. Plus all the meta deed mounts.
Yes, but that's not a complete list, and the community has no way to update it to make sure it remains updated. It puts all the stress on one person. While Darzil has been great at keeping armour up-to-date, it's still a hard thing to do.
Plus, people have to know about the statesmanswatch page. The lorebook is a natural resource for players to turn to.

Updating this thing makes me wish I was a completionist on at least ONE of my characters so much alt hopping... plus I'm still missing a few festival mounts
[edit]
If anyone has pictures of:
Bree-land Starter Steed (level 20)
Bloodbay (basic mount)
Bay (basic)
Chestnut (basic mount)
PvMP mount
the four meta deed mounts
Bree Rep mount
Tame Moria Goat (level 51, Friend)
Galadhrim rep
Mirkwood rep mount
Winter Fest mount with the fancy snowflakes
that we can add to the Lorebook (or you can add), that'd be wonderful. I don't want to steal the images off Calddir's wonderful Steeds Guide, and the above are the pictures that either weren't already up on the LB or that I don't have myself.
Also if anyone has the data to fill in the gaps on my table, that'd be a help too

um..only thing missing that i can see is the new Lithe fest ride.
and its WAY more complete then the lorebook...
as for folks knowing about it...well more do then you might think...i and other do link to it whenever a question about horses comes up.
and actually going to a internet site for info is WAY more natural then going to the lorebook.
maybe someday it will be...but lets take a look at the horses in the lore book vs the page at Family Neharma...
Family Neharma - link take you to one page...pics of each horse and info on where and how to get it.
info on many other things about riding in lotro and other horse related info
page loads real quick
Lore book - once it loads...if it loads....you have a list of horses...no pics
you have to clik on each and every link to see what the horse looks like and maybe some info on it is...
the lorebook is a community effort, which means that if something isn't there, it's easy to fix.
QFT I mean why isn't the lorebook the go to? cause we haven't made it worth it yet. I mean I would love to add stuff in I've thought about it but between two part time jobs university courses I don't want to spend my off time editing the lorebook instead of playing lotro. call me selfish
In my eyes if you work on the lorebook you should be applauded for taking time out to make the lorebook better. Not told there is a better site for it.

My two cents anyway.
Goneric
my main issue with the lorebook is it is soooo slow to load.
also...it is not always user friendly....look at the fmaily neharma link for mounts...one page...loads fast..scrolls down...lotsa pics.
look up mounts in the lore book..takes a bit...then you have umpteen entries of just name link to other slow loading pages.
If you're F2P or Premium or VIP (everyone), you can buy the riding skill in the store (minimum level: 5). After that you can buy a horse.
If you're a VIP and wait until level 20, you don't have to buy the riding skill in the store, you can go up to Hengstacer Farm above Bree, do a quest, get the riding skill, then buy a horse.
A horse costs a few gold (a few thousand silver). You can also buy a horse in the store, although store-bought are usually not quite as good as the ones you can get in the game.

Rep horses cost that much (4-6 gold). Regular Hengstacer Farm horses start at 500 silver (200 silver for VIP). I believe the price drops to 200s after the first purchase (per character) if you want a varied stable to choose from.
