Re: Unable to decrypt and de-serialize the data

I have tried everything on this thread, changed datx to org etc, and looked at older posts etc and I still have this problem. I have done the EU migration, but still no luck.
Do I just completely delete LOTRO off my laptop and then re-install making sure my computer doesn't go into sleep mode?
    I am on Windows Vista.

I had the exact same problem and in order to resolve it I checked the clock on the computer. For some reason the clock on the computer was out of sync with regional time. Once I synced the time it worked perfectly.

For those of us that do not speak geek, make sure you have the correct time on your computer clock in the lower right hand corner for windows users.

    Hope this helps

Thank you Bryce, I'll add that to the KB article as well, it makes sense since one of the checks performed at the decrypt point is to do a 'checksum' and that includes date/times.

I changed the .datx to .org after the recent Isengard patch and it worked beautifully.

Re: Unable to decrypt and de-serialize the data

if you removed the datx file makesure lotro re-downloaded a new one in the update process otherwise you will loose access to the veryhigh res textures

if you need to replace the datx file run the highres repair tool details here

AW: Unable to decrypt and de-serialize the data

Thank you a lot for this thread! Especially thanks to Mulch2010 as s/he was the first to mention the renaming-solution for this problem.

Renaming the file client_highres_aux_1.datx (to client_highres_aux_1.org) perfectly worked for me today after encountering the error while patching Isengard

Re: Unable to decrypt and de-serialize the data

I have tried to update my game since Isengard was released and I always receive this error.
I am running a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit and I installed my game from the Mines of Moria dvd then MoM standalone patch2 and then the standalone Mirkwood patch.
Everything updates ok until it reaches what I can only imagine are the latest updates and the error occurs.

I've tried everything listed in the support center and nothing has worked so I've sent tech support a ticket.

I have played the game since beta and have never had a problem with it until now.

PHEW!!! after only recently completely re-installing LOTRO I was almost driven to another complete Re-install after the debacle that is the latest Isengard update...I too had the dreaded "cannot decrypt....blah blah blah".

After trawling the forums and trying without success so many "Remedies" The simple renaming of the client_highres_aux_1.datx to client_highres_aux_1.org trick above has spared me the slow torture of the complete re-install. Thank you to the finder of this wonderful cure for all my LOTRO nightmares. THANK YOU!!!

Thumbs up Re: Unable to decrypt and de-serialize the data

    Hi Guys,

I was in the process of patching the ROI install to my LOTRO client when after about 70% I had an Internet disconnection. When I tried to resume the patch update I encountered the problem mentioned here. I tried a few of the Solutions but the one that worked for me was the following:

    1) I copied my Backup files to the install directory then I removed all .dat/.datx files
    from the install directory

    2) I opened the Launcher - it started to patch again (Original client prior to RoI Patching)
Firstly it updated the program and then the data - This patch took 5 mins as it only
    updated the deleted files!

    3) After this update I had to re-submit my LOTRO Account info and restart the client.

    4) Once the client restarted, it once again started to patch up - This time it was the RoI
    Patch updating.

    5) Restart launcher and the Client worked as normal. time to do all steps 20 mins with a
    4mb/Sec Connection.

    I hope this helps

I resolved the issue by removing the two .datx files I found in my LOTRO directory. I believe the launcher is sometimes encountering a race condition between removing the old files after patching and restarting.
Thanx, it worked for me. However, i found only one file.

Can we please list acronyms with their definitions in brackets or something? I am having this problem and would easily be able to follow these instructions if I knew what TDM was. What is TDM?

Downloaded the repair tool (it took 10 hours) ran it and attempted to patch. Back to same error message. Attempting full reinstall.

have had this problem a couple of times, here is the quick fix I did...

goto: C:/Program Files (x86)/Turbine, and find the file named client_highres_aux_1.datx and delete it(or save it in another place to make you feel better about not deleting a file you think you might not want to delete).

now launch the game again. that's all I had to do, was playing again in minutes
