Is there an issue with the LoTRO login servers that just hasn't made it to the forums as yet? I'm currently located in Afghanistan and I have had no issues until today with accessing LoTRO for play. Today, it seems I am unable to contact a login server. Up to that point, the login/authentication process goes without a hitch.
Do a tracert to "gls.lotro.com" to see if you can see the login server.
Check to see that IE is not in an offline mode. Even if you don't use IE, the client uses the same global settings that IE uses. So if IE is offline, the client won't be able to see the internet.
If you have a firewall, try removing and re-adding the client files to the exceptions list (file names in the link above).
Get a program like Ping Plotter and run to "gls.lotro.com" for at least 15 minutes (longer is better). Problem areas will be hops that have packet loss or latency >250ms.
Check any routers you have connected. Sometimes anti-virus software can interfere. Net filtering software such as Net Nanny can interfere. There are a lot more possibilities.

Same problem since last Monday rofl, this is actually getting quite funny. I can see this going on for 1 or 2 days but a week, please stop kidding the customers, I don't think it takes a tier 3 tech to know that this is not a network issue.
It can only be 1 of 2 things, either it's a problem with a number of ISP's connecting to Turbine, I know this because people have been having problems with Suddenlink, Comcast, Telus, Teksavvy, in a number of areas like Canada, China, Afghanistan, Texas, Washington State, Louisiana and the list goes on. They can browse other site's no problem, but trying to log on to Turbine is unsuccessful.
The 2nd thing is that the problem is coming from Turbine itself even though they don't want to admit it. I do believe that update 2 is what is causing these sudden connection problems. Ever since update 2 was announced these problems started happening, perhaps they have been uploading content for the past 2 weeks and that is why we can't log in, I don't know I can't say because I don't work for Turbine but I can give my opinion. It could also be a connection problem within Turbine.
There was really no need for me to go through all the network troubleshooting, but I did anyway, and everything runs fine no problem. So I conclude that network has nothing to do with this, it must be something else, of course I don't know what, but I believe the problem rest with Turbine.
So I'm really puzzled to what is going on. btw guys keep posting & some1 inform me when this issue is resolved, would appreciate it t.y.
I find it funny how I can log on to Euro servers but can't log on to U.S. servers.
I'll be on lotro Europe until U.S. has this issue fixed. -> [EN] Evernight ftw!
If you guys haven't done so yet, please try Penter-kar's recommendations in the above thread.
Additionally, please contact our support department directly by visiting http://support.turbine.com and submitting a ticket to our Technical Support team. You can do that by visiting the "Support Center" tab, clicking the link that says "Submit a ticket" and selecting "LOTRO Tech Support" for your team when you are creating your ticket. This way we can help you one on one more personally, instead of just replying to your thread here.

Everything has worked fine up until I patched today. Since the patch I connect fine. Username and password is great. Server list appears and I choose my preferred server. The big green play button appears and I depress it.
Game launches.
