Shadows of Eriador

Are you brave enough to Take the Black?
SoE is a Lifespan Rank 10 Kinship with our over-decorated Kin Hall located at 1 High Road, Brougham, Bree Housing. We have our own Ventrilo server and website ( www.ShadowLotro.com ) which offers many tools, forums, and guides, as well as active presences on Facebook and Twitter (@ShadowLotro).
We are a mature (age 18+) group of men and women from all walks of life and various time-zones ( Majority of our members play US Evening and Weekend hours, though we have several European timezone members as well ) with many real-life friends and families among our ranks. We are focused and driven to achieve everything this game has to offer, yet do so in a casual, laid-back environment - we tend to take the game more seriously than we take ourselves.
We run regular weekly Kin Events, with most Raids/Skirms/PvMP happening on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays - though we regularly run spur-of-the-moment mayhem based on our members and when they are/can be online.
Sense of humor required. A few loose screws preferred.

Re: Shadows of Eriador
As Mirkwood draws near many people begin to feel anxiety mixed in with their excitement. A lot of new content is about to be unleashed upon us, yet many are
still struggling to catch up with Moria and Lothlorien. Some of our newest members (welcome again to this week's fresh meat lol) have come from kins that are smaller,
dying, or dead. While we encourage anyone of quality to apply to SoE, we would also like to offer our assistance to those kins who are
concerned about being left behind.
Need a hand through Eregion to get into Moria? Give us a call. Need extra muscle to finish Epic or Rad runs? Look us up.
Need directions through Lothlorien to avoid more arrows in yer skull? Ask away!
So if you are a GM or Officer of your kin and would like to speak to us for these or any
other issues of importance look for us in game or post on our public forums at
www.ShadowLotro.com

Welcome to this week's new members and Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
General Recruiting as of Nov 24: All classes still open with specific need for Captains, Minstrels, and Lore-Masters. Lowbies and new players are always welcome, part of the fun is helping others master the content we've all been through. Ahh nostalgic Weathertop lol.

Mirkwood Bump! Happy Xpac Day to one and all.
General Recruiting remains open with specific need for Champions, Captains, Lore-Masters, and Minstrels. Come join the slightly disturbing fun as we explore Mirkwood and Dol Guldur as a cohesive team while still helping our lowbie bretheren catch up to cross the Anduin and join the battle! Look for any member of SoE in game or go to our website www.ShadowLotro.com to learn more.
We'll see you in the Mirk!

Re: Shadows of Eriador
Merry Christmas, Season's Greetings, and Happy Festivus to one and all!
Welcome to the latest additions to the Shadows and welcome back to our old friends from the past. Mirkwood was a decent hook to bring a lot of good folks back to the game.
We are continuing with Focus Recruiting in 2010 to fill any gaps, and we will always welcome any player of exceptional quality who wants to join the (something, something, something) dark side.
Happy Holidays to the 'Stone from SoE

January Bump! SoE is having a lot of fun cruising through Dol Guldur and we're always looking for players with a positive attitude and a sense of humor. We've added Skirmishes to our calendar and you haven't experienced their full potential until you've tried them with a full raid - hard as hell but fun on a bun.
Ask any member online for info or check us out at www.ShadowLotro.com ! 2010 is already a good year for LotRo, can't wait for Volume 3...coming sooner than you think...

April Bump! Roadhouse indeed.
Welcome to our newest members and may the gods have mercy on your souls. We are now a Lifespan Rank 9 kin (1,400 max members indeed lol) and as such we now must offer health benefits (mandated by new federal law) which are paid for with the new Shire Pie Tax.

Re: Shadows of Eriador
Welcome to the new crop of recruits and thanks to Arkenstone for providing a constant stream of mature yet slightly
disturbed people. Wouldn't want it any other way.
SoE has been focusing lately on helping our newbs and lowbs get caught up on quests, levels, and gear as we do a hell of a lot more than just hunt for maxxed out toons to help stroke our e-peens. We are more about helping our members than finding people to help us. We still spend plenty of time in the Moria/Mirk instances, but one can only farm them so long before wanting to /wrists from boredom lol. So here's looking forward to Book 2 and something new.Last edited by ArkhonZ; Oct 13 2010 at 10:27 AM.

Re: Shadows of Eriador
May Bump! Go protest something or spin around a stupid pole - your choice!
SoE is having a blast. We've been all over the map tackling a lot of old-skool instances and zones for sh!ts and giggles and it's amazing how much content there is from the past everyone has forgotten about. Our raiders have been training our newer members while gearing everyone up and we've even been spotted in the moors occasionally (still same old but good to see ppl trying to keep it fluid and away from EC/STAB Red Rover bs lol).
Come join the fun! All classes and levels welcome - only mandatory rule is to have a sense of humor. Psycho raiders without personalities need not apply.

Re: Shadows of Eriador
As a new member of SoE and a long time MMOer who has experienced a number of different guilds in various games, SoE is one of the best. This is the perfect Kin if your interest is to have a good time and meet some of the nicest people in LOTRO. In the short time I have been a member I have been made to feel welcome and I feel accepted as a true member of a Kin and what is Kin? Family.
Thank you Arkhon, the officer corp, and all of the great members for accepting me as a member of SoE. I am honored to be amoung you.

Re: Shadows of Eriador
Been working hard lately to get everyone leveled and geared; we're hitting Sword Halls and the other Dol Guldur instances with a vengeance. We've also been going back and enjoying older content-- Annuminas, Goblintown, Carn Dum, and the like, gearing up our mids and just having a good time! I'm proud to run with such a fine group of people-- if wholesale slaughter and good company is your gig, apply today on our website. We're always happy to meet new players with a sense of adventure, honor, and humor

Just joined this kin and so far its looking pretty dang good! Encourage any players looking for a kin to check out their site. A nice number of members, active in many aspects of game, have ventrilo and their own forums and are a very friendly bunch. What more could anyone want?

Re: Shadows of Eriador
Thanks for the kind words Pad, glad yer having as much fun as we are!
Recruiting is still open as we gear up for the F2P onslaught coming in just a few short weeks - we will of course allow Free players to join up and are more than happy to show them the ropes, but due to their level and zone restrictions we will never overlook the VIPs who are dedicated to Lotro and all of it's endgame glory.
As always, SoE is first and foremost a casual kinship, but we have more than enough people to tackle any raid the game can throw at us and have been having a blast lately being nostalgic and hitting the old raids a few last times before Book 2 changes them forever /sigh lol
Look for any of us in game for questions and/or check out our newly revamped website www.ShadowLotro.com for more info!Last edited by ArkhonZ; Aug 20 2010 at 04:58 PM.

Re: Shadows of Eriador
October Bump! (with the proper forum name - thanks for fixing that Turb...now fix the 30.4 million other stupid changes and bugs with the "new" forums lol)
SoE is rolling along bigger and better than ever. We have been pleasantly suprised with the high quality of new recruits from among the F2P influx! Not all Newbs are n00bs. We're also very happy with the return of many old friends, within the kin and among our many other Kinship friends and allies. There are still a lot of minor issues with all the new changes, but honestly we consider the whole F2P experiment to be a success. (don't let it go to yer heads, Turb...still got a long way to Mordor so stay focused!!)
Isengard and the Tower of Orthanc loom ahead - the last obstacles to the Gap of Rohan and the steppes of home. The time to prepare for the War is coming to an end. With whom will you stand?

Re: Shadows of Eriador
Recently came back to the game from a long hiatus, and was freaking amazed at how awesome Shadows has been doing! Not only still around but still the coolest bunch of people I know. We'll see how good their patience is with all my newbie questions about all the changes since last year lol.

Re: Shadows of Eriador
Inundated. That's the word I'm choosing lol. We've been inundated with a flood of new recruits, mostly from F2P and again we're impressed with the quality of ppl the Free experiment has brought in. Bree OOC is still funny as hell to read though our new members have proved that those jackwagons in /ooc are the exception to the rule. Most of the new players are smart, mature, and overall great people and we're glad to have them aboard!
And though we have a great crop of newbies and lowbies, end game continues to be regularly tromped whenever we can be pulled away from helping out the kin or just laughing our ends off in vent. The game has always been about the fun here in SoE and always will be. Drama and politics are for the weak and those with obvious self-esteem issues. We're here to play a video game and have fun while doing it.
