Yes, you can add it to your account.

How can we add it if we have no serial key?

You might have to contact account support about that. I'm not sure otherwise.

The launch date is 09/09/09, according to the DDO forums. You should be able to get a key and create an account (or add it to your existing) at that time. Not before though.

I'm not seeing any obvious way to do it. The DDOU signup process has you immediately create a new account (and you can't login to DDO.com with your existing Turbine account).

I'd expect that there would be an "Existing Turbine Account Holders click HERE!" link, but there's nothing of the sort.

Unfortunately there isn't a way to do it automatically via the website. However, you can request assistance with this from our Account Management department. You can call, or send an email via this web form (for DDO Account Support, not LOTRO as you're asking for a DDO key). If you send an email, please be sure to select "New Free Account Key Request" as the type of issue.

I've sent several tickets over the past couple days, as suggested, and haven't gotten a response back.

The Account Management department does have a lot of volume at the moment. They answer all emails as quickly as possible in the order they are received. You can always call when they open this afternoon.

Am annoyed as well getting extremely upset with Turbine over this issue.

Found I like the DDO game and tried to upgrade to VIP Subscription but then it asked for game code key.

When I first downloaded the ddohires file there was no game code attach to it, when I tried to use my LOTR account name I got a error message of you cannot use your LOTR account and was forced to create a second account. I cannot even access the DDO forums using my second account, nor use my LOTR account name.

I would love to setup DDO Unlimited with my current LOTR Account either VIP Subscription or Lifetime if there is a Lifetime Membership for DDO Unlimited.

Is it because I already had a DDO sub is because I see where I can get unlimited access on myturbine.com page?

Why not just add the option in account management to create a DDO account?

Hit option 1 (Account Support)
Hit option 2 (DDO acct support)

They will get your account details and send you a key via email. Took about 5 minutes to get my key.

I still think there should be an option in account management....but calling was pretty painless and fast.

Rather ridiculous actually, that you can't add a free game to your existing account from the account management site. Now that it's Saturday, I'm just hoping I don't have to wait until Monday for a key.

I still have the free trial key for DDO that came in the LOTRO box. Anyone know if that will work anymore as a key? Want to add DDO to try it out to my account but don't have a key yet. Waiting for a response from my ticket request to get one.

Lifetime LOTRO subscriber here. Am having the same problem trying to get a DDO account key; sent a support request over a month ago, just sent another one.

Must say, it was EXTREMELY frustrating trying to even find out HOW to do this. Specially when Turbine Support page tells one to go to the game site!

Please add my comment to the ones you are forwarding about Turbine giving its current customers a button on all its games to add an account ... I can't see this getting any easier on support services when LOTRO goes free next month!

Wow. That's pretty lame. It's been almost a year now, and we STILL have to call/e-mail support to add a Free To Play game. Bad planning, Turbine. Makes me want to not even try DDO.

And filing a ticket is a royal pain, because they want my CC info (I don't HAVE a CC on file, because I don't HAVE a DDO account), and want to know what world my non-existant character is on.

Very unprofessional, and a very bad first impression.

It's the credit card that's on file in your Turbine account (the one you are using to pay for LOTRO) that they want. This is assuming you are trying to add DDO to the Turbine account you currently use to play LOTRO. And it's also assuming you are using this form as explained in this post. Make sure you are using your Turbine account username, not your forum username.

I would guess they need the last four digits of the credit card to make sure they have the correct account.

I used this form and got the key within two days as promised.

(I think the form insists on something for character name and for server. I just put my LOTRO character name and randomly selected a server.)

Update to my post above:

I used the Seeking Key to Free DDO acct" support email form again, and this time it went through fine. I got my Key within two days (I don't know if having posted here made a difference or not, might be coincidental timing).

I used my Turbine account name, and my main LOTRO character name and server/world.

Since I couldn't renew my LOTRO sub, since Turbine wouldn't take my credit card (Tubine's issues I might add), and I am SICK of Wow, I decided to download and try DDO. No way to say Hey I already have a Turbine account, please add this FREE account to it. Had to create a NEW account for that. Really, Turbine? Seriously, you have to get it together, if you want to remotely challenge anyone for users. There are a ton of people sick of wow, and looking for options, and you offer TWO! But if you won't let me use my damn credit card to PAY for LOTRO, and you won't let me attach my DDO account to my LOTRO Turbine one, come on! This is 2010!!! Spend some money on account development or something! Great graphics, great games, but let ME PLAY!!!!

I am having this issue, too. I can't believe they have known about this for a year and yet we still have to go thru support to get this fixed. Ridiculous!

Why does the form require credit card info just to add a free account. I don't feel comfortable add this info if I don't plan to (at least not at this time) to purchase anything in game. This should be made a lot simpler to just link the 2 accounts since they are both through Turbine.
