Re: Allow Barber cosmetic changes to cover skin tone.

I would agree with this. The lighting in character creation mode is slightly tinted, which is slightly confusing.

When I made my LM, I thought that I made his skin pale just in the right scale, but when I stepped into the game, he was shining with the sun - it was quite hilarious. I didn't delete him anyway, I kept leveling him all the way to the cap, and now I'm used to his "never had any sunlight" skintone.

But I still wouldn't mind fixing his skintone like I really intended it, at first.

I think you should be able to change both skin tone and body type. I mean, think about it. Both things are possible in real life.

Not sure about most of the suggestions on this post, like body shape eye colour and region of origin, but I have to say that a change of skin tone would be a good idea for those who want to immerse themselves in the game then say going to Farochel would leave you looking a little pale and the further south we move the more likely it is that we could all end up with a fine looking tan.

    Oh so SIGNED

I am quite unhappy how the skintone of several of my characters look in game. I'd strongly support this feature.

It would be my number one request if I had to prioritize.

It's because of the sunset lighting in the character creation which isn't fully white. If they fixed that, there would be less need for skintone altering afterwards.

You know, I wish that Turbine would visit forums like this and just talk to the player base. I mean, If I was told "No, we can't currently do that because yadayadayada." That would be much preferred over never knowing. I mean, I'm no game developer but these requests seem pretty simple to me. I mean lets face it, Lotro's character visuals aren't the greatest anyway, allowing us to change them at the barbers shouldn't be that hard to implement, in my mind. At least skin tone and eye color. I can see where body size might cause problems. But seriously, just answer forums like this turbine. Throw us a bone. I think if people enjoy this game so much, that minor toon appearances like this irritate them. It goes to show you that you've got a good player base, even if we don't fall into the usual forum people categories "We hate Lotro!" or "Lotro is our life!" I think its worth acknowledging little forums like this. Please those quiet and polite protesters for a change.

And yea, if you need to make money off this create something along the lines of a "Appearance change token" that opens up a customization box similar to the one people use to try on clothes. Hell, even if its as expensive as those Re-names I'd still buy it, and I'm sure I'm not alone. It'll sell better then a lot of the other &&&& that the store offers, I'd be willing to bet on that.

    Many Rolled Toons....

I can't even count how many toons I have rolled over the last couple years because I didn't like the way they looked once I got in-game. The skin thing, I totally agree with, particularily when I put a dress on and my face and upper chest don't matc hat all! And I have a toon I really want to change her eyes and lips, but can't. I would love to see the barber be able to do a revamp of our whole look, even if I have to pay some extra coin! Or make a thingy available in the lotro store for a full toon re-vamp? I don't care how it happens, it jsut needs to happen!

My poor Elf is so pale. The sunset lighting in the character creation for elves throws a lot of people off, I think. All I want is the ability to change skin color in the barbershop or elsewhere. I'd even pay real money for the option, I really would. This game is so great with cosmetics and in looking how you want to look, so it baffles me that this feature doesn't exist.

This is the change I want more than anything.

    I second this.

My first Elf is very pale too, and its one of the things I can't stand about him now. I would be very happy with this option as well. Please add it in!

Skin tone change option at the barber would be appreciated. I had a character take a leave ICly and he would have returned with a tan, so it would be nice to demonstrate that visually. Granted, it's easy enough to type up such a change into a character's bio, but it would still be a plus to be able to see it.

Even more so than the skin tone, actually, I think being able to change the body weight would be very useful for RP purposes. People starving, bulking their muscles up, getting flabby from laziness, and pregnancy are all pretty normal things to see happen for RPing characters. Giving the female characters a "pregnant" option where their belly is pronounced, I think would be especially cool.

Would be great to be able to change the weight and height as well (well.. height at character creation. Everyone in this Middle-Earth seems to be the same height save for hobbits). I wonder if I should suggest that in a new thread...

I totally agree, this would be a wonderful addition! I actually deleted a level 22 hunter just because her skin tone looked too white and made her look like a zombie. Please make this changeable at the barber Turbine.

Honestly, I'd like to redo some of my characters entirely. I know it's not "realistic" but so what? My fellow players don't recognize me by how I look, they recognize me by virtue of the floaty name I'm sporting.

Don't you mean "albino midget vampire?" lol

But seriously, this is something that has bothered me too. Skin tone and body type should definitely be something that can changed. I've got an elf that looked great as one of the first toons I ever rolled but now he looks skinny, gangly, and white as a ghost - none of which really fit with the idea of a Champion.

Rp-wise I find it accurate that the skin tone can change. For example many a time I wanted to get my character accidentally sunburnt after days of galloping under the sun. I know it is a barber in the name but lets face it, the abilities to add and remove freckles and moles means barber in this game is a limited avatar change. And it is not like we are giving our characters a nose job or anything

I made my Burglar a bit too dark and i want him a bit lighter, and like everyone else has said the barber can already do stuff that normal ones would not, and nearly all the games out there allow you to do Sex Change, Skin Tone Ect... So i see this as a great idea... But knowing turbine they will make it where you have to buy it in the store for like 900 points...

Also i made my Guardian too light... WE NEED THIS FOR THE GAME!

Actually upon character creation you can change between several races between the race & (several kind of elves, hobbits, etc.) that will make you palate of body plans & skin/hair color biger, next time you do a alt check that.

    Love this idea!

I also would love to have the ability to change skin tone and some other visuals on my avatar using the barber NPC. The lightning in player in creation is different and I myself have a couple of elves too pale than what I was aiming for.

I'd agree with this mostly because in the case of elves ( unless this has been corrected) your actual in-game character was always paler than what you selected in character screen. I understand they want elves to be paler than other classes, but you do that by limiting the choice, not making them paler than what you chose. that said, i haven't made a new char in 5 years, maybe they fixed that.

I would like this as well because, its hard to tell what your character will actually look like until you're in game so they should really implement this feature. On another note, this page is 4 years old, so I'm not sure if it will ever happen.

I have looked forward to this feature for years now and am surprised and disappointed it hasn't been implemented. Face color AND body size change at the barber shop. I have just spent a week creating and deleting multiple characters just to see how they translate in game with different outfits and such. This may seem a bit excessive, but after several characters, I don't want to invest time and money into another only to hate it later.

For some reason when I created my oldest chars shortly after launch, I made them unrealistically dark red faced and emaciated. I have long since abandoned them because they are unplayable to me now. This was my fault, but I have made many other chars since then and would change something on most of them as well.

It starts with the player models and character creation being totally unforgiving. Giant shoulders mean unrealistically smaller waist on most races. Some outfits make a skinny guy look like Arnold Schwarzenegger. It's easy to make a character ghost white or sunburned red, but most importantly, you can't fix it after the fact! You are locked in. At least in real life I can control my image.

It would be nice to get even a response to this as others have mentioned in this thread. I love this game and keep coming back for gameplay but even more for cosmetic lotro in Middle Earth universe!

I doubt realism is the issue here. It's probably just not on the important list. Which is why I'm here posting. Okay maybe having the feature at the barber shop breaks realism, but why not the character log in screen? True, Middle Earth does not have lypo doctors and tanning salons but it does have the sun and cakes and pies, and veggies for the slim ones. And let's not forget Ent-draughts!

I have to agree with allowing skin tone edit. Though I can live with mine, once you have a character past their 20's it's too time consuming to "re-roll" them. And, though the argument is made that a barber in middle-earth is "not a doctor or plastic surgeon" you can make two effective counter-arguments: 1. Haven't you ever heard of a tan? and 2. It's a videogame.

So, unless the devs want to make a week-long themepark where one obtains lotion and a sabbatical to get all jersey shore; or to the opposite effect, make their hunter stay indoors playing videogames for a month, I'd say just let the barber handle it -- only he knows for sure.
