Seems to me like that happens when the clarinet tries to hit a note it actually isnt capable of playing. Instead of playing a note, it makes that weird noise.

Correct, the clarinet doesn't have the range of stringed instruments. The horn and flute also suffer from this. In the case of the clarinet, if you play a song configured for strings, you'll get a coughing sound when it reaches a note that's outside the clarinet's range. As I say, the horn and flute do it too, it's just harder to hear.
Mandli: Now I know how the elves feel. All the magic is leaving Middle Earth.
flute doesn't have any missing notes they are all available with flute, this is why its a major choice of mine over the other wind instruments for making songs for.
the clarinet has ^C, and C, I believe, and Horn is C, if I remember right
These quacks, are by design, and the horn sound is the sound of someone blowing air into a horn (without a tone ) hehe.
You can use these in songs if you are creative.
the C, on the horn also sounds similar to guitar fret squeeks, which can be snuck into a song if you are careful.
Bagpipe also has a full range of notes, however the bagpipe needs long sustained notes for bass lines to sound good in a song. Otherwise they sound like a sack full of unhappy cats
My hope is that we some day have violas and violins and so on , we need sustaining strings.
Well, it appears that the lowest D flat available joins the ignominious ranks of unconventional sounds for the clarinet. I could swear it did not do this before the latest patch. Any witnesses?

Your character probably just doesn't have a very good embouchure...

My one... regret... is... is... teaching owls to... use lassoes. The pen is mightier then the sword - but only if the sword is very short and the pen is very sharp.

Yeah, too much winterberry ale can do that to one's face...

D flat is the same as C sharp, and the low C sharp has made an oinking sound long as I can remember. Which is about 6-8 months ago.
