The Rift of Nurz Ghashu in Angmar is one of the hardest areas, on-level, in the original SoA game. Once you get to Iorelen's Camp, which can be tough, your Rift experience can start, with friends of course.

Rivendell has two superior crafting areas/machines. Ones for scholars in The Last Homely House's library. And, one forge in Imlad Gelair after you get enough rep to enter. This is the path in to Imlad Gelair.

If you haven't seen Gollum yet, here he is! If you do the quests in Tal Bruinen of Trollshaws, you'll see the first encounter with him. So, don't pass the Trollshaws by!

I watched a program on TV yesterday about seawater rising in low coastal areas. Lake Nenuial's waters have risen from what they were an Age ago. If you do the quests in and around Annuminas of Evendim, you'll know why many of the structures in the Port of Annuminas look as they do in this screenshot, and it's not due to global warming.

Turbine goes very far in incorporating so many things from the books into the game. This screenshot is of Saruman and his Palantir. Doesn't it just make you want to go to Isengard so you can see this, too?

All seven of the original palantir, or Seeing Stones, were brought to Middle Earth by Elendil. At the time of the game, only three remained: The Ithil-stone which was in Sauron's hands, the Anor-stone in the hands of the Stewards of Gondor, and this one, the Orthanc-stone.

Rivendell has been a "magical" place for me since I first was able to get a character there. Rivendell with a full moon is beautiful.

Like most of my screenshots in this and my other thread, they make great LOTRO wallpapers. Just r click and save to your computer.

In terms of beauty, Dol Guldur in Mirkwood is just about the opposite of Rivendell in the previous screenshot. This is the door into the Sword Hall there. When you go, take a friend or two and be quick and stay cool.

More wonderful details skipped over by most of the folks who rush through the game. The details are on a pillar on the Weatherway bridge in Weather Hills, Breeland. I see barley, 3 flowers including a rose, and etc. Enjoy.

In the books, and in the movies, Galadriel is one of the key supportive figures in the fellowhip's story. In this game, you can run into her several times, especially if you follow the epic storyline. This screenshot of her is taken from Volume III, Book 6, Chapter 5 where she is in her garden in Caras Galadhon in Lothlorien.

Have you met Naglangon? He is a level 33 elite master drake with 11K mp who wanders around Ram Duath in Angmar and then takes off and flies around. A great sight! Take chestnuts to roast and friends.

LOTRO has beautiful skies. Most folks, including myself, take screenshots of the beautiful daytime and night-time skies. But how about the really forbidding, ugly skies that are equally as well done in LOTRO? Not so many screenies of those.

LOTRO has a wonderful array of systems that you can use to make unique or near-unique looks for your character. These systems include dyes, wardrobe, dressing room, and cosmetic outfits. All these make for a lot of opportunites to make the look you like.

This is my Rune-keeper who can wear only light armor. Also, I dislike taking characters into combat wearing dresses or similar non-armor looking clothing. If we are going into combat I want my character to wear armor that looks like armor.

But she uses the following cosmetically to achieve the look I want, mixing and matching: a heavy armor surcoat called Ornate Surcoat of the Dunland Swordsman dyed Rose; light armor shoulder guards called Exquisite Radiant Dwarf-make Shoulder Guards dyed Rose; and light armor pieces called Fine Explorer's Gloves and Shoes each dyed Purple.

And finally, here she is mounted on the new Spring Festival mount called the Symbelmyne Horse. This horse has a pretty busy look, with shades of rose and cyan over the light grey of the horse's coat. So, I wanted something that complemented the look of the horse while also focusing the eye on the rider and not adding to the busyness of the horse's appearance. I'm happy with the look I achieved by experimenting with the game systems I mentioned above.

You, too, can make your character look as you'd like. Good hunting!

Speaking of armor and clothing, many of the game's npc's have great-looking armor themselves. Take in the details of Vamma's outfit, for instance. He's a quest npc in the great hall in Suri Kyla in Forochel.

Goblin Town is a wonderfully crazy maze cavern in the Misty Mountains. Expect to get lost in there since if you want to get to someplace to the east and down, expect to have to go west and up to start with. Devs must have had fun designing this extensive, complex cavern.

If you love to kill goblins, go there but take a friend or two if you are doing it at level. Takhborkh, one of many greater goblin bosses there, will not miss the opportunity to greet you!

Garth Agarwen in the Lone-lands is one of those places you really can't explore alone, or even in a clumsy fellowship. But if you can get enough friends who are willing to work together and play their class well, it's a fun place to work at discovering. You will need patience and some time to get it done. There are lots of rare elite-masters and good loot if done at level, and the quests are repeatable.

This is the main entry area.

Kindlemaw is a rare elite master drake that sometimes wanders around on the trail up to North High Pass in the Misty Mountains. He will be happy to warm up any cold rations you may have.

In this thread, I've posted screenshots that mostly cover the areas new players will encounter, with a few from other more advanced areas of the game mixed in to tantalize.

Middle Earth as produced by Turbine is a huge, complex, detailed and interesting world, and it's getting bigger. There are so many neat or scary places to go and great monsters to see and defeat, solo or in groups.

It's a story-driven game, based on the novels, not the movies. If you are into "crashing" your way through a game to get to the max level, you are going to miss what makes this game truly outstanding.

Also, I have another screenshot thread that covers all the areas of the entire game. I usually post a new screenshot in that main thread two to four times a week. So, using the link to my main thread in my signature below, you can come back often and take a peek at the latest ones.

As of March 2012, this thread has about 200 screenshots in it. Also, my main thread is now over 700 screenshots that I've taken, none of which duplicate the screenshots in this thread or the other thread. That's over unique 900 screenshots; enjoy!!

All my screenshots are in high-resolution, and so, nearly all of them are suitable for use as desktop wallpapers, too. Just right click them and save them on your computer.

Take a look at this close-up of a Morreval Cave Queen at Skoiruzg in Eastern Durin's Way, Moria. You won't be having a nice time with her.

Goblins are nasty. And, hobbits and goblins seem to have a particular animosity toward each other. This screenshot is of the interior of one of the first major goblin caves a hobbit in the Shire will encounter: Lubach's cave in the Greenfields. Lubach himself is not in this screenshot, but is a level 12 signature, so be prepared.

My lore-master on her Sable Harvestmath horse at Mirobel in Eregion. Personally, I like how it all fits together.

If you've been looking for LOTRO wallpapers for your computer desktop, most of the screenshots in this thread and my main screenshot thread, linked in my signature below, make for very nice wallpapers. Between both threads there is a huge selection of high resolution screenshots you may choose from. Just right click them and save to your computer. I put a new wallpaper up on my computer every 2 to 4 days. Makes for a nice change.

Giant spiders may gross some folks out, but they are in many places in the game. This one is a common Globsnaga spider in the deep down Foundations of Stone, Moria.

You never can tell what is behind doors and gates. But I'll give you hints: they are big, ugly, and either wham you with oversized fists or throw boulders at you. This is the gate to Ost Belegram in NW Trollshaws.

Mordrambor, a Black Numenorian sorcerer, is captive of the Dunedain Rangers in Tinnudir Keep. He is searching for Narchuil, Amarthiel's lost ring of power. This quest is part of epic Volume I Book 11.
