Today, I am declaring that my main screenshot thread now has over 600 screenshots. They come from all over the game and make a great place to learn what the game, or a region of the game, offers. See the link in my sig below.
And for today, I really like this screenshot of Ost Guruth in the Lone-lands. Like most of my high resolution screenshots, it makes a really nice desktop wallpaper.
LOTRO is a highly detailed game. Often, because we have a computer that can't handle the details, or just because we are in a rush to go somewhere or do something, we don't notice the details.
Today, we have front then back shots of the details on a White Hand Pillager near Candaith's Camp in the Lone-lands.
There's a lot to see in each. Making these screenshots larger, like posting them as destop wallpapers, will allow you to look carefully at what Turbine has provided to us. There's even stitching on the belt pouches, and rainbow colors on his "cape".
There are a lot of giant spiders in the game. Many are one-of-a-kind named, and many are not. This is a common giant Trapdoor-spider, an elite-level spider in the Wovenvales of the Trollshaws.
The main lodge at Suri-kyla in Forochel. NPCs for a vault, crafting and other needs are in there.
Like most of my screenshots in this thread and my main screenshot thread, see link in my signature below, they make really great desktop wallpapers for your computer.
There are various kinds of cave-claws spread over Eriador. This kind, a Whiskerback Scavenger, doesn't live in a cave, but out in the open in the Trollshaws. If you haven't already done it, take a close look. They are really disgusting and creepy, imo, when viewed close-up. Detailed art like this abounds in LOTRO everywhere.
This is the Weatherway Bridge in the Weather Hills in Breeland. There are a lot of bridges in LOTRO, and some of them are really beautiful or are set in beautiful surroundings.
Gondamon, that peaceful dwarven city for quest and other services in Erid Luin. Or, if you are playing skirmishes, not so peaceful. This screenshot is of a skirmish lieutenant Daywalker Berserker Troll in the Gondamon Skirmish. If you haven't started playing skirmishes yet, begin!!!
And, if you want to know more about skirmishes before you begin, go here.
If you've been debating about being able to craft armor and other items for your character, or whether it's worth it to buy items from the LOTRO Store, these two screenshots are of my new armor for my level 42 captain.
The crafted armor is level 42 Elven Soldier's undyed armor with a looted helm called Himhar dyed black.
This is a panorama of the Annuminas area on the shores of Lake Nenuial in Evendim. On the near left is Annuminas; in the left-center rear is the island of Tyl Annun with its fortress. On the right is the Tomb of Elendil with his statue and well behind it, the pine-covered island of Tinnudir with the Ranger Camp.
The Dunedain city of Annuminas was the captial of the northern Dunedain kingdom of Arnor. There is a great deal of the history of the descendents of the Numenorians to be learned in this area of Evendim. The game can be very immersive if you let it be.
Beautiful scenery again. This is the bridge over the River Lune and its waterfall near Duillond in Erid Luin. If you haven't explored Erid Luin, you should, if for no other reason than the scenery.
I have to say, I hate that bridge, mainly (o.k, entirely) because I lost my undying title at level 7 falling off it. That is one good screenshot though, as usual =D
The gate of Gath Uior, in the background, leads you into The Rift in Angmar. You may be able to run there if you are the right level, around 50 and up, but you'll want friends for sure when you arrive.
There are many undead areas in the game. They are usually "stocked" with skeletons or other nasties. This screenshot is the Tomb of Maenadar in the Barrowdowns, Breeland. The Barrowdowns is the first major undead area you'll encounter.
LOTRO is not only a wonderful story-driven mmo that immerses you in Middle Earth. It is also a game of graphic details that also enrichens our gaming experience. I've posted a lot of screenshots that show details of various places and objects in this and my main thread (see link in my signature below).
As an example, Donnvail, a town in Angmar, has a small quest hub inside. This screenshot is of Una, the main NPC there.
All three have been cropped a bit to help see the details of clothing, body art and jewelery. As you work your way through the game, do choose to take a bit of time to look around.
As with most of my screenshots, they make for great Windows desktop wallpapers.
Today's screenshot is of the Old Way. The old road-way runs generally in a north and south direction and is the main route through Enedwaith and Dunland. Here you are in the Bonevales of Dunland looking southwest towards the Dunland regions of Pren Gwydh and the Starkmoors.
Oh, and by the way, if you want to see a screenshot of Saruman the first time he appears in the game, go to my main screenshot thread and scroll down a little. In this screenshot, he has degenerated from the pureness of Saruman the White and calls himself Saruman the Many-colored.
This is Balak, emissary of the White Hand (Saruman) to the rulers of Carn Dum (the Witch King and Sauron). Not sure that their discussions will be a good thing for the Free Peoples of Middle Earth. You will find him in Minas Caul at Barad Guluran, Angmar.
This screenshot is of Nen Harn, through the trees at night and is taken from the Weather Hills of Breeland. Nen Harn is likely the first really big lake you'll encounter in LOTRO. If you follow the quest series there, you'll also get exposed to the game's turtles, although these are still babies. They are tough if encountered at level. :P
Like most of my screenshots in this and my main thread (see link in my sig below), they make great Windows desktop wallpapers. Enjoy!
One of Sauron's great deceptions was in the Second Age. In this screenshot he is depicted as Annatar (Antheron), the Lord of Gifts.
Disguised, he spent 600 years teaching the Mirdain, the great elven jewel-smiths of Eregion, how to forge rings of power. And, all this time, he was also building his fortress in Mordor and forging the One Ring. His purpose was to, eventually, enslave elves, men and dwarves through the rings of power that he would give them.
This is a very brief recap of what was going on then; the full story is much more interesting. You'll learn much more if you work on the epic quests.
Take care when approaching the mural in Eregion, its dread effect is very strong.
As we get closer and closer to Dunland, we start seeing more and more Dunlendings. This screenshot is of a Dunlending Commander at Bannog Cadlus in Eregion.
