Thread: Help no sound!

I can't get any sound in the game apart from cinematics and some npc voices.

Oddly enough this problem only surfaced after the tiered download completed. When I was running the client with only the inital newbie areas loaded, the sound ran fine. Now that I've completed the download, the sound is gone.

Help!

Check the in-game sound levels. Open the Options window and select Audio. There should be several slide controls for the various sound channels. Check the Sound Playback option, too. If it's set to Hardware, change it to Software (and vice-versa). If that doesn't work, then post a DxDiag. Instructions on how to do that can be found in the sticky How to get help on the Technical Support forums.

Sound levels are up and switching those options didn't solve the problem..

Try renaming the userpreferences.ini file (eg. olduserpreferences.ini) thats in your "Documents" > "The Lord of the Rings Online" folder and relaunching the game to test.

If it keeps up though definitely open a support ticket.

@Scrubshow: have you found a solution to the sound issue? I'm having the exact same problem, so I'd love to know!

I think from the dxdiag that maybe we have the same audio card? Mine is on a Gigabyte mobo, though...

Help would be appreciated, since play is really eerie without any sounds except cinematics and "would you stay and speak with me?"

As you said, the weirdest part is that this problem occurred only AFTER the game was fully downloaded.

UPDATE: I ran a "Validate and Repair" last night only to discover that the game wanted to download 2.3 more Gigs! O_O

It took my computer all night to download (because my hubby's computer is still on its initial download) BUT

I have sound now *happydance*
