if you are Elrond, which char you would choose for the Fellowship
If you can make the 'dream team' of fellowship of the ring, which character would you choose and why ?
personally i'd choose these guys
- Gandalf
- Frodo + Sam
- Aragorn + boromir
- Glorfindel and his elven soldiers
- Tom bombadil + goldberry
i'd give the fellowship full horses so they can ride faster and in large group they can pass the gap of rohan unmolested.. even saruman wont dare to assail a large group with elf lords and his hosts... especially with tom with them.. tom would contact fangorn and they deal with saruman before saruman can unleash his army to helms deep .. and then they will march to minas tirith together.. including Ent army with tom in the lead and a full strength rohan riders..
off course gandalf still grey not white..
bwt : I'd return merry and pip to shire along with gimli and legolas , to help prevent the scouring of shire..
Re: if you are Elrond, which char you would choose for the Fellowship
Pah! I spit on your so-called dream team! Try this on for size:
- Gandalf
- Tom Bombadil
- Tulkas
- Green Lantern
- Arnold Schwartzenegger circa Commando.
- Michael Jordan
- One of those scary raptor lizard things from the Jurassic Park movies, except like, he's all into saving Middle-earth and defeating Sauron and stuff. Wait a second...make that 14 raptors, but they'll only count as one!
- Zombie Jimi Hendrix
And R2-D2 as the ringbearer, cuz he's incorruptible, as well as awesome.

you all should choose from persons in middle earth and that exist on the same age as the fellowship.. tulkas would be nice but he is not coming to ME ..

In that case, it should be pointed out that Tom isn't leaving the Old Forest.

Floon: even Sauron is afraid of him. :P
In Middle-earth, it would be:
Radagast- summon an animal escort
Sam- Ring has barely any effect on him
Legolas- HUnters rule
Gimli- everyone needs a tank
not that good but im currently not in think mode

Re: if you are Elrond, which char you would choose for the Fellowship
Faramir
Théodred
Erkenbrand
Aragorn
Glorfindel
Legolas
Frodo
Sam
Gimli
Gandalf
Radagast
My thinking is this: Tom Bombadil wouldn't come along, so it's pointless to include him; Faramir wouldn't be ensnared by the Ring like his brother and Boromir could easily take his place protecting Gondor; Elrond wouldn't come along because he has Rivendell to think about and protect; Éomer would be a good choice, but he's probably the best protector that Rohan has; and Beorn was dead by the time of the War of the Ring.
As it is, I've chosen 2 men of Gondor, 2 men of Rohan, an additional Istar and perhaps the greatest Elf-lord alive in the Third Age. The rest of the fellowship is left as it was. Théodred would make a decent member of the fellowship, and his inclusion would likely keep him away from the Gap of Rohan and alive to take the rule of his land. Meanwhile, Éomer would do a decent enough job of protecting the Riddermark.
Gandalf and Radagast would be invaluable, since the power of the Istari's would be immensely helpful. However, if only 9 members could be sent, I'd drop Radagast and substitute Gandalf for Erkenbrand.

Re: if you are Elrond, which char you would choose for the Fellowship
1. Aragorn, cus he is awesome and he is the heir to the throne of Gondor.
2. Fingolfin, because he was quite simply the most baddass elf ever (he severely wounded Morgoth 7 times, then stabbed him in the foot after getting crushed)
3. Gandalf (duh)
4. Tom Bombadil, because he would make it interesting.
5. Frodo (gotta have a ring bearer)
6. Sam (gotta have a back up)
7. Legolas, as hunters are indeed awesome.
8. Gimli, because dwarves are awesome
9. Beorn, because he was just plain awesome. (who doesnt love big scary bears that fight on your side?)
(Notice I have lots of awesome people )

Re: if you are Elrond, which char you would choose for the Fellowship
i agree with Radaghas.. he can summon beast to help the fellowship.. and he definitely can order the spying craban off and even turned the birds against saruman..
about elrond, he is supreme healer so he can heal every sickness in the fellowship..
glorfindel can achieve victory thru arms and battle..
and for pete's sake.. elrond should give the fellowship HORSES so they can ride faster to mount doom...

Horses wouldn't have done much good going over the Misty Mountains, and even less so going through Moria. Let's not forget about how poor old Bill got sent away.

But then Sauron would have known they were coming, hence the small number of fellowship members. They were more on a mission of secrecy, not destruction.

Yes, this would be the best team, incorruptible, intimidating and best of all entertaining.
Now THAT would be an epic in the making!

Re: if you are Elrond, which char you would choose for the Fellowship
I would pick
Merry
Aragorn
farimir (spelled right?)
Legolas
Frodo
Gimli
Gandalf (and drag radagast along for the ride so that lazy brown lm that wont help me in 1.2.9(?) can solo the bolrog and gandalf can walk off with out a scratch)
Pippin
Sam
the rest of the heroes are busy doing their part but i might take gimli out and replace him with a champion with a full teir 2 raidiance set and the best first age swords imgainable
(oh and farimir can carry around the jewled bell, holding an arkenstone pie, and riding a poppul (from brandywine) to make him even more awsome) *and thats all i can think of to add in from the game)

Hey what about wearing a silly hat from Vilya (the unofficial silly hat server)?

alright every server mascott can come, i just didnt want a server war...
but now that i think about it maby we should bring j.r.r tolkien with the fellowship to he could probebly write boromir out of getting killed by orcs or something
*every one i was just kidding around about the server mascotts i wanted to see what would happen, but i am serious about farimir (is the name farimir spelled right?) perhapss with him taking his brothers place he wouldent have chased off frodo and he wouldnt have died...*

That's okay, we're just giving you a hard time. But, seriously now, don't ever forget Landroval's chinchillas again or...
We'll assimilate you!

That was my thought exactly. That's why I included Faramir (the 2nd vowel is an 'a', not an 'i') instead of Boromir in my fellowship.
Re: if you are Elrond, which char you would choose for the Fellowship
Here is my serious list:
1. Frodo
2. Sam
3. Gandalf
4. Radagast
5. Aragorn
6. Faramir
7. Eomer
8. Gimli
9. Elladan or Elrohir
10. An elf of Lothlorien
Obviously Frodo must go, and where Frodo goes, so too does Sam.
This quest is the culmination of all of Gandalf's efforts since his arrival in ME, and he is arguably the greatest force "for good" operating in this part of the world, so he goes.
Similarly, as an Istari Radagast should also go (and his particular specialty ought to be of great help in the wilds). In fact, I have a hard time understanding why Radagast was NOT included, at a minimum, in the Council of Elrond, unless it was uncertainty regarding how much influence Saruman had over Radagast (although on that score I believe Saruman's own words indicated that Radagast was an unwitting dupe in luring Gandalf to Isengard).
Aragorn is also an obvious choice, as the heir of Isildur. Again, I have a hard time understanding why there was ever any question as to whether he would accompany Frodo all the way to Mt. Doom. Even from the beginning of the quest Aragorn was of divided mind as to whether he should leave Frodo along the way and accompany Boromir to Minas Tirith. I can't imagine how he expected Frodo to complete the last leg of the journey without his aid, even accompanied by Gandalf.
The company needed strong sword-arms, so I include Faramir and Eomer. Faramir is the clear choice over Boromir, given his wisdom and his ability to resist the lure of the Ring. Faramir can also faciliate the passage of the Fellowship through Ithilien. Like Reddhawk, I would also include a man of Rohan. In addition to bolstering the fighting capacity of the Fellowship, I like the idea of including a key member of the Rohirrim power structure in order to smooth the Fellowship's passage through Rohan, should their path lead that way. However, with all due respect to Reddhawk, I give Eomer the nod over Theodred, who would also have been a good choice. I think it best to exclude all heirs to the various thrones (other than Aragorn, of course), given the danger inherent in the mission.
I think Elrond was wise in wanting to represent all of the Free Peoples of Middle Earth, so a dwarf is necessary. As a practical matter, it is also a good idea to include a dwarf in the event that the Fellowship must travel through Moria. We don't know what other dwarves would have been available, but I like Gimli here because of the continuity represented by his father's link to Bilbo and the recovery of the Ring (plus Gimli's connection to Balin through his father, in case of a passage through Moria).
Of course, we need to round out the fellowship with one or more elves. I actually think Legolas is a poor choice from the available options. As far as we know, he isn't well travelled and will not be of much use as a guide or a facilitator in the lands to the South. Also, he is Thranduil's heir, and, as noted above, I would prefer not to risk a blow to the succession of any kingdom. Glorfindel would seem to be the obvious choice. However, some of Elrond's words at the Council suggest to me that a great elf-lord that has seen the light of the Two Trees may "burn too hot" (for want of a better phrasing) and thus jeopardize the secrecy of the mission. I like Elladan or Elrohir (only one, so as not to deprive Elrond of his heirs). We know that they are accomplished warriors (having a long and bitter private feud with the orcs after the torment of their mother), as well as having extensive experience scouting and travelling the broader region surrounding Rivendell. You could also make a good case for including a doughty warrior/hunter out of Lothlorien, so as to ease the passage of the Fellowship through the Golden Wood in the event their path takes them there. Actually, I would expand the Fellowship to 10 and include an elf from both Rivendell and Lorien.
Here is my high fun quotient Fellowship:
1. Frodo
2. Sam
3. Gollum
4. Rosie Cotton
5. Aragorn
6. Arwen
7. Eowyn
8. Grima Wormtongue
9. Denethor
10. Bombur
11. Rumil
12. A Beorning
13. Tom Bombadil
